  • No Schindler's List? Other than that, pretty good list.

  • Comment removed

  • Although I highly disagree with your list, I can understand some of the choices you've made. But please let my advise you to also take a look at the great scores from decades past. To mention but a few: El Cid; Ben-Hur; Now, Voyager; Gone with the Wind; the Thief of Bagdad. Etc.

  • What did all these movies have in common..accept for the second one. (They were all made in the 90's)

  • Actually, Road to Perdition, Lord of the Rings, and Revenge of the Sith were all in the 2000's.

    @darrenAVA

  • Only one i'm shocked not to see.....The Godfather!!!!!!!

  • Midnight Cowboy? Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? Pink Panther? Life of David Gale? and WHERE THE HELL IS REQUIEM FOR A REAM!

  • @JoeBro715 who cares? Phenomenal it is!

  • I love your list. Makes me feel like I'm in Disneyland, or Busch Gardens with all that nifty music. :)

  • You'll get no backlash from me! You don't have ALL the best ones here, but all the ones you do have are SUPERFANTASTICAMAZING!

    So thank you. :-)

  • the lord of the rings.. Who could forget the lord of the rings..

  • inglorious bastards has nice tracks too check them out and i'm very agree to "road to perdition "

  • the fountain. awesome film score. check it out!

  • ENNIO MORRICONE????

  • @movielover86 Have you heard the opening theme from "Game of Thrones" yet? you will probably like it. not to mention the show is one of the best T.V. series that i have seen in years.

  • where is jaws

  • me and you we have the same taste, man, just look at my vid!

  • The Lord Of The Rings should be number 1!

  • I agree. Great List, but I think Lord of the Rings should have topped the list

  • Great list. Look into Requiem for a Dream (especially Lux Æterna). It's a truly epic soundtrack, though I can hardly stand watching the movie because it makes my skin crawl.

  • totally dissagree with 10, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2. But i totally agree with number 1. Love Thomas Newman <3

  • @JoeBro715 The movie maybe, but not the soundtrack.

  • does anyone know what the name of the edward scissorhands track is and also the road to perdition track at 4:18? :)

  • Bladerunner

  • Finally one with LOTR!!!!!!

  • SOME MIGHT DISAPPROVE THIS BUT LET ME SHARE MY OPINION.

#1 I think you forgot GONE WITH THE WIND!!!!!!! TARA'S THEME!!!!!!!

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the composer or even the movie this song was originally in??? Youtube won't let me put in the weblink to the youtube video, but if you seach "Go by Jackie Pullinger" <- it's the music playing this background! It's bugging me so much.

I'm not sure if it's James Howard Newton or hans zimmer or who!

  • @localjesusfreak.. I believe it is Thomas Newman, Road to Perdition soundtrack,

  • To all haters...MAKE YOUR OWN LIST, PLEASE!

  • 1. Jaws

    2. Star Wars (original)

    3. Psycho

    4. Indiana Jones

    5. The Godfather

    6. Back to the Future

    7. E.T

    8. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

    9. Stripes

    10. 2001: A Space Odyssey

  • you pull no punches here - nice list. Braveheart, Episode 3, Titanic, - all in my top 10 also . I think Lord of the Rings is good but not that good. Its always lacked something for me...I think its lacking a truly memorable melody in the score. There are many themes but none quite poke out like Star Wars. Also you forgot GLADIATOR

  • lol ? best movie scores.......and no, the good the bad and the ugly ? no once upon a time in the west ? dirty harry ? bullitt ? cool hand luke ? those are movie scores ! freakin kids in here have no clue lol

  • Number 7 on this list reminds me of Metal Gear Solid type of music

  • your top ten movies are all crap thumbs up if you agree

  • The fact that you don't have anything listed by Clint Mansell blows my mind. Or Ennio Morricone for that matter.

  • MINE: 1. Forrest Gump. 2. Inglourious Basterds. 3. The Shawshank Redemption. 4. Blood Diamond. 5. Dances with Wolves. 6. The Good The Bad and The Ugly. 7. No Country for Old Men. 8. The Pianist. 9. Pulp Fiction. 10. City of God.
  • youtube v=NTgQl5tZnJ8

  • #1 The good the bad and the ugly

  • interesting choices -- nice job.

  • wheres the omen? (the original not the crappy remake)

it had one of the most fitting and haunting scores ever. :P

  • Number 7 (The Rock) was good. But i think the rest sucked, you shouldve given place for the Bourne trilogy, Black Hawk Down, and The Matrix. I'm sure there are lots out there better than, Titanic, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Edward Scissorhands? are you kidding me?! Really, i think i watched that once, kinda like E.T.

  • I think Blackhawk Down deserves a Place here

  • The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack sounds like the soundtrack for Men in Black.

  • I like your list, I just started looking them up for the first time and the only two on my mind are actually on your list. I was surprised!

  • Does anyone know what the track's called that's used for The Rock part of this video?

    Number 7. I'd be really grateful!! :D

  • @burytonight

    Rock House Jail.

  • @burytonight Hans Zimmer - Hummel Gets the rockets

  • YES! SOMEONE WHO AGREES WITH ME ABOUT STAR WARS 3!!!

  • It only needed The good the bad and the ugly

  • 2001 is the best movie soundtrack EVER! It really captures the mystery and awe of the mysterious and awesome film.

  • Okay, I understand that this is "your" review so you are entitled to your own opinions. With that said, I am not going to say "oh my god you didn't put (insert movie title that I like a lot) on your movie list." I will mention however, that there is something a little odd in that for being named "movielover86" the oldest movie on your list was made in 1990. You have about 5 more decades of movies to watch and awe-inspiring scores to listen to before you will live up to your youtube name.

  • How about "Saving Private Ryan"?

  • Ok retard, so you obviously have never seen Rudy? None of your picks come close, not to mention Rudy's music score is presently still used, your picks, not so much!

  • two words: Apollo 13

  • Very interesting choices. I would've never thought of Road to Perdition.

But, if you're gonna place Star Wars on a list like this... it's gotta be No. 1 or No. 2 and it's gotta be the original score or Empire Strikes Back.

  • @LukeLovesRose The music from the prequels is amazing. Not that I don't like the originals, but I don't necessarily think that the music from the original trilogy is better than that of the prequels.

  • gotta put the forrest gump suite and october sky theme in there close to one #1 but great choices. So true with road to perdition as #1 thomas newman is a genius.

  • forrest gump is not in this what the heck? that movie got 6 oscars i love that movie i rate this movie ***** have you seen it if you have you would edit this video.

  • I really like your choices!! These are your favorites so don't let anyone tell you this isn't good or you should have added something else. They rock!

If you haven't given them a listen before, these are my favorites: October Sky (the theme is the BEST), How To Train Your Dragon (don't laugh at me until you've listened to Test Drive and Romantic Flight) and Last of the Mohicans! You seem to like good music, so I hope you'll listen to these and like them too! Thank you for this again!

  • You put The Rock on here! YES. True Romance.YES! Braveheart..Heck yeah!!!!! You picked some great ones. But,and I know everyone has different tastes...How in the world can you not include the score (soundtrack) from The Last of the Mohicans? That is an amazing soundtrack/score!!!!! One of the best ever!

  • @GlennJWhittier totally agree" last of the Mohicans" added to this list would have knocked every other list outta the ball park. *sigh*

  • i'd forgotten how awesome road to perdition is.

  • in my oppinion true romance is the best.

  • Darth Vader: I am your father

    Me: Daddy?

p.s. i am not a star wars fan

  • @kiwiking254

    ps i am

  • I agree with most of your list. I just think that Titanic has just become far too dated to be the best. Half of its synthesized and over the top. It does have its place in film history but overall it sounds too 1997.

  • good call with the rock

  • Am I the only one who liked 2001's soundtrack

  • @connerspencern i liked it better than all the other 1's

  • You show your rather junior age! While I'm no spring chicken, further out we have great scores with Dances With Wolves, Out of Africa, Heat and even Saving Private Ryan is great, but light and short.

  • I don't share the same taste - I think you are into more classical type stuff than I am - but it has been interesting to watch your film.

For me, all time number one is the James Bond theme from Dr No (et al.).

  • James Horner is my favorite composer. (:

  • haha no dragonheart?

  • the island, avatar, transformers, pearl harbour, armageddon

  • is there a certain name of scores with singing in the background too?

  • but you, fuck you i hate your choice of movies except for true romance and road to perdition, you seem to be a 12 year old

  • i guess everyone has his own tastes

  • true romance i loved it

  • Gosh , I just love Edward Scissorhands. Probally Elfman best Score. Nice selection.

  • have to say, lord of the rings, jurassic park and requiem for a dream have to be my favourite movie scores.

  • the good the bad and the ugly has the best score the best in my opinion

  • you should check out the good the bad and the ugly finale... songs called the ecstasy of gold and its been remade ridiculous amounts of times!!!

  • hey maan how about list some top 10 of greatest asian movie scores?

This top ten includes only american movies...

  • braveheart is an epic movie!

  • have you ever listened to the descent? or memento? not saying you should have added them but those are beautiful and intense scores!

  • You almost made me hate you forever for having The Rock on this list but you BY FAR made it up by having Road to Perdition as number one.

  • Egads! I like everything about Braveheart. It is sad that a great director such as Mel Gibson will probably never be able to direct again (strange how the film-community fell all over themselves to support Roman, but have ignored Mel). But the rest of those scores! None of them match the vibrance of The Magnificent Seven or The Great Escape. Let me know whether or not it is easier for you to remember the score from The Alamo a day after seeing the movie or any of the scores on this list.

  • ok

jurassic park, braveheart & lord of the rings are (of course) cool.

    BUT:

If you count star wars EPISODE III you are stupid.

Star Wars IV (the first score) is one of the best film scores on the world. And Episode III is not epic.

IV V & VI are epic.

ther other scores are ok except for:

    true romance.

    This one's SHIT

  • I think sound scores are one of the most important elements to a good film. Excellent collection there!

  • could someone please tell me what the name of the Road to Perdition track is at 3:47?

  • @jammyham "Rock Island, 1931"

  • @movielover86 It reminds me of metal gear solid kind of music :)

  • Thomas Newman is the man!

  • why is there like 3 min. of pictures for just #1?? <:/

  • I have seen all this movies but True Romance and Road to perditon and the Rock, but the others have a good score and are very good movies.

  • That last scene in The Last of the Mohicans when there running up the side of the mountain always gets me fired up.

  • Bladerunner tops them all.

  • the list is cool but man jurassic park and titanic sucks and i ve never seen true love oh and mel gibson sucks too

  • @travissokol You are a complete retard. Jurassic Park is an amazing movie and True Romance, not true love, is one of the greatest movies of all time.

  • @travissokol Braveheart is one of the best movies ever.

  • what braveheart song is it?

  • your list was ok! and i like peple who stand for there reasons!

  • pirates of the caribbean's theme was great

  • I Agree, Thomas Newman Is The Best! well i think anyway.

  • You should out some annotations up for the composers

  • u have some pretty good tast LOTR is amazing best my absolut fav and Danny elf man is awsome I think u should have included pirates of the carabean it has some pretty sweet tracks

  • Top 10 Best Movies of all Time. 1. Gangs of New York 2. Saving Private Ryan 3.Shawshank Redemption 4. Casino 5. Gladiator 6. Braveheart 7. The Patriot 8. The Count of Monte Cristo 9. Forrest Gump 10. The Green Mile
  • Interesting list. True Romance is just a slight variation on Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. I like my film soundtracks to try a little harder when blatantly ripping off classical music (Williams using The Planets for Star Wars is more subtle... which is sad).

  • I agree with the most of this list.

but everyone has his/her own taste in movie-soundtracks.

so stop complaining about which movie deserved to be in this list and just enjoy this movie.

  • I liked this video only because of the road o perdition movie

  • I'm guessing this is a girl, because none of these are that great.

  • @Chimaira2689 the rock rocks! xD

  • Not bad at all, you have good taste.

  • so boring movies

    i don't like it...

  • Shawshank Redemption is one of my favourites, surprised it didnt make your list. I like all the scores, except for 'The Rock'

  • I'm surprise Forest Gump is not on this list

  • are you girl or boy

  • sorry to hate but this is a horrible list of movies. none of these provoke emotions or thought. They are a collection of colorful sets and special effects, nothing more. What about movies such as Crash(2004), Donnie Darko, Fight Club, Blow, or Saving Private Ryan

  • @headwall5 agreed

  • @headwall5 this is a list of SCORES, not how good the movie is. A movie can be absolutely terrible and still have a great score.

  • @bakedpotat0 Like in "The Village"... Bad movie, awesome music. Especially the piece "The Gravel Road".

  • @bakedpotat0 This is true, see the very bad version of Lancelot first Knight of Richard Gere, but the music its a masterpiece.

  • @bakedpotat0 example: last airbender

  • @bakedpotat0 The Last Airbender would be a great example of that.

  • @Musicjoe11 so is The Fountain, alot of people disagree with me on that but i only sat thru it for the soundtrack. I'll check out the airbender sountrack if its good :) thanks

  • @bakedpotat0 case in point Xmen 3...beautiful soundtrack and not the best movie tho

  • @headwall5 dude a video like this is about opinion. apparently HE likes thoses movies and their soundtracks, and there's nothing anyone can chance about that

  • @headwall5 this has nothing to do with whether or not you like the movies. it's purely about the scores. how the music makes you feel does not involve the actual film at all.

  • And Con Air is another good score

  • And Con Air is another good score

  • Untouchables should be in there

  • I thought Edward Scissorhands, Lord of the Rings and Road to Perdition were excellent choices. I also liked your inclusion of a couple Horner movies, although I would have chosen Glory or Cocoon over your picks. But how do you have a top 10 list w/o Bernard Herman (just about every Hitchcock movie).

  • love the list, True Romance was a joyful surprise a truly great piece of music THUMBS UP!

  • My #1 is Once Upon a Time in the West. Ennio Morricone is a GENIUS!

  • I'd also like to see the final score from dragonheart. I think that's one of the greatest scores of all time too!

  • May I ask why you did not include Armageddon and Transformers?

  • its missing Pirates of the Caribbean, Avatar, Transformers, Gladiator, Dark Knight, King Arthur, Angels and Demons, the Day After Tomorrow, X-men, the Island and many more I cant remember at the moment... but good selection anyway

  • Star wars lol.

  • Nice collection. I appreciate the opportunity to listen to music from these and other movies. With rare exception, I normally am so focused on what is going on in a movie that I don't pay attention to the music, so thank you for making it possible for me to focus on the music.

  • 1.The Shawshank Redemption

    2.Saving Private Ryan

    3.Forrest Gump

    4.American Beauty

    5.L.O.T.R.

    6.Gladiator

    7.The Terminal

    8.Braveheart

    9.Kingdom Of Heaven

    10.The Dark Knight

  • in the new list..you must put alice in wonderland 2010 in the list......

  • Ill agree with you on #1 and #3, the rest idk.

  • What about The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly?

  • nice list!

    where's coraline??

  • very good list!! i can't do it better than this

  • ok you danny elfman freak.

  • Pretty good list and thoughtful explaination. Thanks for sharing :-)

  • dragonheart's score to the stars by danny elfman is really good..but titanics music is by far the best..

  • OHHH!!! And Lord of the Rings, too!!!!

  • I think Titanic has had one of THE BEST scores for a soundtrack EVER!! I also really love anything Danny Elfman does and the Finding Nemo scores were good too! AHHH there are just sooo many good scores!!!

  • what about pirates of the caribbean?

  • never heard road to perditions sound track before. i have to say it is very nice

  • personnaly, i disagree 100% forrest gump should be #1 and more mel gibson movies, savin private ryan should be int there also. thats just my opinion tho so dont get mad

  • braveheart!! unforgetable :D

  • The Untouchables gets me everytime.

  • Name of first song in Nr. 1 pls

    this one is amazing

  • whats the name of the track from road to predition ??

  • Have you ever seen Fellini, Kurozawa, Welles, Mizoguchi, De Sica and so on? You seem like my mother who had the opinion that cinema and theatre are only amusement. Her best film Sissy the princess. Please, promise me to make the effort of watching 'Lost horizon' of Capra and 'The hustler' of Rossen

  • no The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Gladiator, and A Beautiful Mind? I think you should rethink your choices if you didn't have "My" in your title.

  • Mi favorites are Angels and Demons, and The Day After Tomorrow.

I like Angels and Demon's opening one because I think it's punchy and dramatic, with an evangelical overtone.

I like TDAT's closing score (It's called President's speech) because it's slow and sweeping yet powerful and emotional.

    But that's just me.

  • revenge of the sith is your favorite star wars movie?....that totally rids you of any credibility

  • @deadhardy

    its mine as well

  • very nice list, i agree and have all of them except road to perdition, never saw it. Thanks for discovering it for me ;)

  • I like ure top 10, but i think saw deserved a spot, probubly people are gonna go off at me, but still 5/5

  • Man I was so moved by some of these scores, amazing work.

  • road to perdition is a good number one

  • titanic, jurassic park and braveheart should be pot 3,in my opinion

  • AVATAR FTW!!!!!!!!!

  • although I am not the biggest fan of titanic,, the music hits everything

  • While these are all good scores, I would argue that The Red Violin deserves a spot on this list. Haunting!

  • the rock, ultimate WIN!

guessing your a Tim Burton fan?

  • These are all great themes.

My favourite on this list is Edward Scissorhands.

But I'd toss in Batman and Gremlins.

  • but all these films have been made after or during the 1990s
