they need to have two exabition events at talladega, a 24 hour race, and a 500 mile indycar race, just dont allow anyone to sit in the grandstand at the indycar race and you wont have to worry about fan safety for the indycar race.

I owned 1986 Saab 9000 Turbo with 5 speed briefly for 2 years. Since then, I have owned many Fords, Nissans, VWs, Hondas, Acuras...I guarantee and promise that the Saab was the greatest automobile I have ever owned or driven or that I ever will. By far the best machine I have ever driven. The feeling in driver seat, the communication back from the car, everything is just incredible about this remarkable car.

Tyvärr kommer de nog inte göra det... nya 9-5 är GM rakt igenom. Ingen kritik mot 9-5 och Saab som märke, kör sem själv, men tror att GM har meckat för mycket med Saab för att bilarna ska kunna gå så pass felfritt som Talladega-saabarna.

This is not the whole movie. The person that made this clip took away loads of stuff from the original one. My dad as on of those driving the car in 1986 and 1996 and he have all the movies that was made around this thing. I have seen them all so I can say for a fact that this is not the whole thing. Still, it's a cool thing to do and it just show what saab is capable of.

It's true that they did go back to talladega 10 years later. But it's not the same test! What they did was that they hade 1-2 new SAAB 900 going around the track 24/7. then they hade like 4-6 other SAAB 900 with different types of engines, like turbos V6 and so on. Those cars was for the press to drive and only during the days when the track was usually open. Basicly this talladega run 1996 was no test, it was more like a aniversary for the long run 1986.

saab is my life!After driving 10 years a 9000 2,3turbo CSE Anniversary I got now a 9-5 :-(. I have a 9000 turbo and a 900 turbo cabriolet and it was fun to watch this video.

By the way, sammlund, I'm not aware of any 900 turbo record runs (a quick Google check returned no results on this topic, at all!)

well actualy they did make that test with the new 900 and broke some kind of record but i dont know what exactly

What SAAB did was that they took their new 9000 out on talladega for a nonstop, 20 day-and-night drive with full throttle all the way through, pausing only for refuelling, tire-, and driver switch. As a celebration of the successful drive, saab produced a special 9000 turbo with slight modifications, called 'Saab 9000 Talladega'.
