  • MR GRAY CRACKS THE SOUL HOWS IT FOR GREG THIS TIME , LOTS LOVE TO ALL , VANTHEBOB

  • always makes me smile...

  • Sweet Tune my new friend!!

    You wirte amazing music!!

  • This is so real.I love all of your music. You are absolutely real. Thank you. I love If You Could See Me Now. I probably listen to you hundreds of time.

  • cool!! great sing and video

    clap!clap!clap!

  • 3:10am in the wee hours of a Tuesday morning, and I'm surfing YouTube and gently wash ashore on the island of marycigarettes, where I lie in the sun, and the sun is wet and high.

  • what an amazing wee song thank you!!!!

  • I love your channel Mary ....this is class...the video says so much ...;))x

  • this number just blew me away when I heard it first. I can't help but feel the creative drippin' out of everything you do.

You're the best. We dig you the most.

  • Garfunkle? Yes, but perhaps more in some other songs. Sometimes maybe a touch of Peter Gabriel?

    It's a beautiful song.

  • a lot of people say that ,skinny.....i think me and peter gabriel maybe have similar shaped voice boxes...david bowie was my big passion when i was growing up,but of course i sound nothing like him.i'm glad people compare me to peter gabriel though...he's given his life to music.

  • I missed the boat, though somehow I arrived/ through my stumbling, now find myself transposed/ no longer in the original, I place myself in the parenthesis/ teetering, I now stand near him in the fragility of our sometimes fragile world/ Together I feel the washing- human experience/ the washing-our existence/ &it feels as though, the crowd washes us by/ till we know! we've been there once or many times before! (Whew! phenomenal stuff!)

  • The smirk of your joke jolts ecstatic madness across your face/ cutting rhythms felt/ experiencing moments, while the rush of human existence washes you by...............(This is/was my response before I read your description. I guess sometimes knowing less is more? Now I too feel like the guy in the video!)

  • @avisualfeel it's no joke...this i promise.

  • still touching me, featuring again, thank you. showed it to who I needed to, love the lyrics ♥ gina

  • Incredibly touching, lyrically poignant. A BRILLIANT example of GREATNESS!

  • This really touched me, it reminds me of someone very close to me. Great video !

  • This is an Absolute Masterpiece!! What was the chances of that! You finding this video footage & putting it together with this song?! It Captures the Feeling & Atmosphere of the whole Concept Beautifully, It's Mesmerising! I Can't stop watching This! xx

  • this is new for me!

what a great production...what a great song and great performance...

and again....What a fantastic voice God gave tou you, MC!

  • This video is ample proof that one should always look through peoples back catalogue since you never know what gems are lying there. This video is so sublime, so gentle, so touching yet so tragic that it reaches out of the screen and refuses to let go. I've watched it 4 times now. The filming is beautifully fluid. Great work all round. 5* and fav, of course

  • This one stopped me...one of the best videos I have ever seen...captured wonderfully, tragically, humanly...sweetly and tenderly.

beneath the waterline...keep Your powder dry...

  • what a sweet thing to write!..thanks so much....you've perceived it exactly as i intended!

  • My friend you fucking amaze me -- the video that you made years earlier then put it to this great song -- its fantastic

im very happy to have found a great artist

    on you tube

    thank you

    take care

    marc

  • great, love title, and meaning [s] one may listen to words, and it can be an answer to their questions, thoughts, concerns - various, unique meanings in this one song. video plays into the same genre as lyrics.

  • Awesome song&vid! Love this! Thank you for sharing Andy :)

  • Just brilliant singing man! Cheers Mary!

  • Thanx for the explanation...I kinda imagined it similar to the expression "keep your shirt on". Kudos for songwriting, which for me is harder than poetry. I can write words but they lie, without melody..

  • Lately,all music irritates me.I don't like anything.However,I liked this.Beautiful.Thank you .

  • 'Lately,all music irritates me.I don't like anything.'

hahahahahahahahaha ...veronica..that is a killer line that i may have to use in a song.....and i know how you feel ...so much music is overheated..overfried..over egged..it kills me too.........thanks for such a glorious comment...you sound like great fun.

  • You're welcome to my words.

On a serious note,I liked your video too,So many people miss the person as they pass the drunk. You didn't.You talked, walked, and fed him.Unusual.Good.

  • OMG the lyrics so sad yet so beautiful, it

was so touching - your voice and the melody really hit the spot for me and the

video so surreal, a perfect compliment.

    You're a genius.

  • thanks! ...i hope all those roadworks round princess street arent doin your head in....i heard'sound control' the big music shop in edinburgh is now closed..that made me sad...that place had been going forever...as a teenager in a band in edinburgh in the late 70's we used to get stuff for our gigs from there...such a shame it's now gone.

  • Great stuff.Trying to imagine taking a camera into Belfast city, say Castle Street, and doing this.Features rearranged fairly swiftly me thinks.

    Nice one gregory,nice one Son.Isn't that a song ?

  • oh i can assure you ole daddy, i've had some close shaves with my camera around those soho brothels....kisses ...mary.

  • A gem, cool guy in the vid too as he keeps his face straight throughout.

    Great song big 5's

  • i don't think he needed to keep his face straight..he simply wasn't in a smiling mood.

  • I didnt mean smile I meant not even opening his mouth or changing his expression at all

  • yes!...he's very much in one particular headspace.

  • What a mesmerizing video...not the least of which is the song and your vocal. Truly wonderful. And although I do see the similarity to Art Garfunkel, you have you own voice and style that makes you JUST AS AWESOME.

  • hey baby!!!.its the angel with the ukelele...i keep thinking about learning to play one of those little things...they have a certain harp quality in the sound..i guess it's the nylon strings..... lovely to hear from you tim

  • thank you julia!..i just watched you singing and playing the guitar in your kitchen.....i love to see a musical household like that.

  • That was pure entertainment, oved the video take,I was glued to that video, thoroughly enjoyed the song, that guy could not have done that better for you , even if he had been a professional film extra,he was so expressively none expressive, misterious I hope that makes sense, lucky he didn't punch you on the nose, as you say he was not keen on the camera intrusion at first, but knowing that from info also helped add to the intrigue, where was that filmed??, seemed to be an ubundance of males. 555

  • i've had some close shaves in soho...one time i filmed some 'ladies of the night' in the red light district..they were very young and they came after me and tried to get away with my camera...i just curled up in a ball snuggling my camera till they gave up...the upsetting thing was people just walked by minding there own business while they nearly killed me!

  • My favourite Mary Cigarettes tune! - Lovely to see on YT... hadn't thought of a Garfunkel parallel before...

    Cheers for now,

    B
