  • Congrats to VSD for passing the 2000 views milestone!

  • Awesome news for fans of VSD. They now have a fan page on facebook. I was just on there and they have the dudes in the band talking about stuff on the discussion page.

  • look ma there were no wiggers in 1987

  • O yes there were! Even hear of Vanilla Ice or Marky Mark?

  • abschaum?

  • bassist looks like the lead guitarist from sepultura at one point, Jairo i think. They are crankin the napoleon dynamite look

  • 1:04 notice the guy with chains in the back is it me or are those tripp pants the ones that the faggot hot topic goth kids where :O

  • Great to see my favorite unheard of metal band getting close to 1000 views. Wish they could become a featured video. I think more people should add their songs to their pages and help spread the word. I just love the sound of this band.

  • wtf is with that guy at 1:34 ?

  • dudes amp fucked up and this band doesnt measure up to its name violent speed death no real violence absolutly no speed and barly any death on vocals

  • I actually think the name was more in the hardcore/ crossover vein , like DRI or COC. I think they were called VSD and Violent Speed Death was just one of the many things it could stand for. Also, Violent Sex Devils. Everything was pretty tongue-in-cheek and not be taken seriously. The song title is "Kill Your kids", I doubt they were actually glorifying the killing of children.

But anyway, I like the guitars and the heaviness of the band, regardless of what they were saying or not.

  • FUCKING NICE MOSH

  • Wow, I can't disagree with that comment enough. That song kicks ass; the lyrics might be a little silly but the music and vocals are pure solid metal. Who do you like?

  • I really like the open riffs and drum fills. The guitar riff just makes you want to move. I agree the lyrics are a little silly but a lot of metal lyrics are. The fact remains that this song and frankly, everything by VSD, is a damn heavy tune. Take into account that this was recorded in 1987 and when you put it that perspective, this music is very heavy. Ratt, Poison, Motley Crue, etc.... were all big in'87. This music was pure metal underground.

  • I guess everybody got too tired to "mosh" after 2 mins...lmao...stupid song, stupid vid.

  • Is that a mosh?

I guess the heaviest bands at this time were Slayer, Priest, Venom and Megadeth... Actually Painkiller from 1990 contributed to the heaviness that came from Defenders of the faith (Priest)

  • "Painkiller" was a bad ass heavy album that went largely unnoticed i think because of the terrible "Turbo" and lackluster "Ram it Down" after "Defenders.." By 1987 there were some pretty heavy bands putting out some good metal music.

I would say VSD combined metal and hardcore to play in the "crossover" style but more on the metal side overall. The kids in the video are moshing around some. I just saw VSD added 2 more songs on here-- "Lifeof Scum" and "Lubrication", both super fast songs.

  • The song turbo lover is heavy as hell, it just proves that Judas Priest always knew to be in trend, and could beat everyone with it.

Turbo was unnoticed, unfortunately, because it sounded too pop with all the synth. And again, Priest should get kudos for a remarkable move like that.

And as for Painkiller, id say its one of the heaviest ever, proved Priest can be in trend (again).

And i must say it was widely noticed. Its one of the few infamous Priest records that kicked everyone's ass.... :)

  • I just really hated everything about Turbo. I did not like the song Turbo Lover one bit. I did very much enjoy the Painkiller album.

  • :)

i guess its a matter of taste dude...

    Painkiller is a different story.

    But i prefer Defenders :D

  • Congrats to this kick ass metal band that not many people have heard of on passing the 300 view mark.

Hope VSD makes a massive comeback cd in 2009 and conquers the metal world.

  • I agree with oldschoolthrasher. I really love all these songs. Glad to see that people are veiwing VSD. Any more news about recording this year? Have you guys written any new songs or are there still some old songs we have not heard?

I have been trying to spread the word about VSD; this band is really heavy.

  • Damn, that intro riff just comes at you like a freight train. Heavy stuff!!!!!! Long live metal.

  • I am Shane, the short guitar player. VSD '09 plans on doing all the old songs in a pro studio, plus maybe a few surprises.....

    Thanks for the comments!

  • @shanemcbride dooo ittttt!'

  • I can't understand what the words are too much. The recording is kind of muffled but I love the song and the guitars are heavy as hell.

Funny, it sounds like the guitar solo dies out in the middle and the big dude goes back to mess with his amp. Looks like the crowd liked them. I'd like to see them perform live sometime. If this video is from '87, then I guess they must be somewhere around 40 now. I'll have to keep my ear out for VSD. Anybody know if they have any cd's out?

  • They made coke look metal.

  • Killer guitar riff. I gotta see if they have any more videos up.

  • Just love this video and this band. This shit is super heavy. Listen to that monster guitar riff.

Really hope VSD records some music in 2009.

  • lol aren't you Dave Benser?

  • Dave Benser was the vocalist for VSD and he later went on to record 2 classic thrash metal recordings with Speaking in Tongues in 1992 and 1993.

  • yes, but are you Dave Benser?

  • I am not Dave. I know him well and am related to him.

  • awesome man. i tried to put VSD up on the metal archives but they rejected it.

  • Why would they reject it? What are the criteria for inclusion? VSD was around in the beginning of the metal / punk/ crossover and was very important to the Baltimore metal scene in the 1980's. Some of their friends and bandmates have gone to tour with some very respectable bands in later years. VSD was friends and tape-trading partners of all the bands of the time. They should be included in any accurate metal archives.

  • i totally agree man! the reason they rejected was because there were no sign of their existence, no material released, no pictures or anything. i tried to put the link of your account (because of the videos) and their facebook fan site on the archives but it didn't work. if you have any other material, demos or anything, then you should put it up on youtube or try to put the band up on the archives yourself.

  • Wow!!!!!!!!! This video is awesome!!!! I had heard that a bunch of guys from Joppatowne had metal bands years ago. I had no idea that VSD was so damn heavy. This stuff is like Black Sabbath mixed with DRI and Slayer. I am too young to have seen them live in the first go round but I have heard they may be recording several songs in a professional studio this year. From what I know, they have enough material to record an entire album. Hopefully they will record a hardcore metal masterpiece!!

  • Who the fuck are these guys? They ruled for playing this heavy in 87.

  • This video totally rocks!!!!!!!! This is PURE HEAVY stuff originally recorded in 1987. Years before Metallica hit it big, years before Pantera, decades before Korn and Slipknot. VSD are true pioneers of the metal/punk crossover movement. I hope to see more of this classic Baltimore, MD speed/power/crunch/thrash/hardcore/ metal band videos. VSD played live with major bands of the day in the late 80's like Whiplash, Celtic Frost, Voivod, Die Kruzen, Hallow's Eve,

    VSD--Violent Speed Death!!
