love the cannon what does it take to buy one like this i would just like some sort of breech loaded cannon someday is there any special permets neede to own one?
Well at that time most cannons were still reloaded from the front, roll in the ball and blackpoder in the tube and it took long time but according to most soucres the first frtillery piece that was reloaded from bedind liek this was the mle.1897 but now this? Whats this system called and when was it introdiuced?
@JSLegoMaster This is the horizontal sliding wedge system. Krupp stole the idea from Broadwell in the 1850's or 60's. See an early Broadwell gun firing in one of our videos "Firing the rare Broadwell Mountain gun" (they don't allow links in these coments)
Thats a beautiful gun and a great video. It looked to me that you had about an inch of empty case space between the top of your powder and the bottom of your bullet. It was my understanding that was no no with black powder. I know black powder cartridge shooters claim that it's the equivilant of a barrel obstruction. I shoot a 3" Whitworth rifle and I shoot heavy expencive loads just to fill the case. What are your thoughts on this? See videos by ( piutesteve) let me know. Thanks Steve

@Nick3889 no prob, I was watching the Christmas special, he seemed pretty happy after the sale. HE certainly made a good investment. These little cannons are amazing. I wish I owned one.
Thanks, we have some live original stuff which we want to shoot once we get a personnel-type target array constructed. These rounds are expensive collector items and we sure don't want to waste it without a way to see exactly what it does.
@Classicalguy12 they may look cute but in battle they are far from it, these guns with a 3 man crew are extremely rapid fire and pack a hell of a punch. 4 cannons killed 300 people are the Massacre at Wounded Knee.
No permits needed for cannons made before 1899. They normally sell for about the price of a pretty good make of new car.

If this design was prior to 1898 I'd love to find drawings of it, I have a 30MM barrel to make into a cannon, it's a barrel from a Warthog.

I bet 2 people can run that into position fast. Well, as long as the don't have to go up a steep hill.

And btw. the reloading stytem is very easy, in with the cartrige, close lock fire, i mean max rate of fire must b e like 15S/min
