Call me old-fashioned, but I kind of am madly in love with the Constitution.
Hearing it read made me feel all patriotic and whatnot.
They should have read the whole thing, not just an abridged version, but that's okay. They left out the "lowlights", but they covered the highlights. Such as the FOURTEENTH Amendment, the one that baffles Antonin Scalia.
"No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
So you're saying you want to go back to a time when African-Americans were slaves and white plantation owners didn't have to work?
The fact that Slavery was abolished means that plantation owners who want to get rich have to either do manual labor themselves or HIRE people and pay them wages and those workers have rights as workers and as human beings. That's not making everyone a slave. That's making everyone free.

Instead of a reading of the Constitution, why don't they get ACTUAL SCHOLARS AND EXPERTS to tell them what the document REALLY SAYS AND/OR MEANS? That would be so much more productive.
