got it in one try using this method:

to always succesfully disarm your opponents, just aim on them and keep walking in the right way of them (circles) while tapping A, (so you hold your left stick to the right) then because you tap A, your player makes more speed and ducks when your opponent attacks, then, when your player ducks, press B and you will punch him and take his weapon, from here on, it's piece of cake, just make sure to spectate when you only got less then 50% health left

@LoGanTm7 I hadn't realised they'd attempted to do that, I don't think it really succeeded, the engine isn't designed to work in the same "silly" way that Vice City and San Andreas was. It's got a far too "serious" tone.
