I looked forward every christmas to hear this song. I could always rely on 91X in San Diego play it... I finally found the Christmas CD "New Wave XMas" in 1994 10 or 11 years later, that featured this song.
Thanks for this. One of my fave Captain songs and a brilliant 12" single with my favourite Captain B-Side still not available on CD "Wendy, Where Are My Snaps?"
THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THIS SONG WAS AT MACY'S WHERE I WORK. THREE YEARS I DIDN'T KNOW THE NAME OF THE SONG OR WHO SANG IT BECAUSE THEY DON'T PLAY IT IN THE REGULAR STATIONS. BUT I FINALLY FOUND OUT AND I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF HIS VOICE OR ACCENT.
I love you Captain Sensible! Wish you were here in California performing your "stuff" instead of touring in the U.K. Thanks for posting this UserNamesAllGone! - Maybe Cappy Cap will see our Happy, Happy, Happy, Happy Posts!
Underrated, underplayed, under-appreciated - I am thankful I lived in a time and had a radio station (KCGL - Salt Lake's Music Leader) that played this tune regularly during the holiday season back in the mid eighties.
@northropo I also was lucky enough to hear the song on the radio on WLIR Garden City Long Island for all of two years in the 80s, but it stayed with me and when YouTube came along, it was great to find it again. Unfortunately I have never heard it on Muzak but it seems like they play it a lot at holiday time. Interesting to hear the song actually got played in Utah, I would not have guessed it but it's great!
@starsound99 Yes! I recorded it from Saturday Superstore in 84 but the tape was erased, this is the first time I'm seeing it in almost 20 years. Massive thanks to the uploader, you're bringing back some amazing memories for me. This has made my day!
Look on madamewoselle's page and see the comments about this son on Muzac for the holiday season--in the USA no less! Amazing because this song got about two years of alternative rock airplay in the US in the early 80s, when there was really very little alt rock radio.
Gotta say, Muzac has surprised me often the past several years. Call it a Christmas miracle!

The 80s...I'm glad I narrowly avoided them.

What a goofy ass video. I though it was one of those depressing anti happy Christmas songs, but it's something Weird Al would come up with.

I've been looking for this song since 2005 when I worked at Party City and they played the song all the time.

This is great, thank you very much, indeed. Right up there with Father Christmas by the Kinks (and only by the Kinks).
