  • how can u expect a nobel prize for Martha they gave one to Obama and he just did nothing... Martha Argerich is a heritage for all humanity she is much beyond nobel prizes

  • If I was interviewing Martha, I would have shit my pants...

  • I didn't know she spoke English :)

  • I love the way she leaves her hair undyed

    natural, not pretending, beautiful

  • 2:39 - that is one hilarious awkward pause.

  • @mynameisandycostello so true! I couldn't stop laughing.

  • Yeah, that interviewing lady is totally out of touch and putting ignorant questions. And she doesn't even understand that Martha is giving hints about it.

  • i wish if martha gave her a slap with her almighty hands because this interviewing lady doesnt knew that she is talking with a Piano Goddess .

  • @5619762

The interviewing Lady thought that Martha was just a hippie that had to many glasses of wine in her life, sad but true. In Sweden people are judged by their looks.

  • I wish Argerich would play more solo pieces, especially the ones by Chopin.

  • Lovely woman , really, she's sooo lovely.

  • i feel bad for martha with this interview simply because the person asking all of the questions seems to be very "out of the loop" so to speak on how a concert musician does things. martha is a person that is much like horowitz in the female form, there won't be another person like her anytime soon.

  • @jscgreer

What a wonderful interview, providing Martha with the opportunity to reveal to us her personal insights.

  • she is clearly still young at heart

  • I wish I could see her alive, just only once in my life and I would be very happy

  • Wow... A million questions I have for Ms. Argerich and this fool interviewing her is sitting there asking nonsense about what bracelet she is wearing and who she looks at when the concerto starts. How irritating.

  • I love Martha! The interviewer is so off, and I like Martha looking at her as you can almost read her mind: "Are you stupid or something?

  • She is so amazing. At what ~68 here she has the facial expressions and vivacity of a young girl.

  • This is the first time I've heard her speak. I pictured her having a more American English accent, for some reason. Hmmmm... Anyways, she is fiesty! :)

  • @KarrotKun1 Martha's native language is Spanish. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. However, she is one of those "citizens of the world", since at early age she has lived in different places. I don't even know how many languages she speaks.

  • Martha is the BEST!!!!!

  • LOL wtf, this is perhaps THE most interesting mysterious women on the planet, she hardly ever does, proper interviews, and the lady asked martha, if she has to look at the guy with the whip at the start of the ravel...wth.

  • @kyleclef i know. i wish someone more knowledgeable was doing the interview.

  • So gracious

  • Wow,.. just wow. How dare these people put that person to interview Martha Argerich? I don't think the interviewer knows exactly who she is talking to.... I guess she is wise enough to handle these kind of people/interviews.

  • what a crappy interviewer...it feels almost as if the interviewer is a bit condescending to Martha especially when she mentions Hertha Müller and Martha says something like "it's a pity that I haven't read it" and the other woman goes "yeah but you will, you will"

  • It's so frustrating to have great, fascinating artists being interviewed by people who can't ask great, fascinating questions. Marta was very, very gracious and patient, to her credit. What a wasted opportunity!

  • OMG Martha should've killed that silly interviewer.

  • stupid interviewr

  • the lady has no idea, certainly sounds like she hasn't done her homework nor does she seem to posses insights in general(never mind great artistry of argerich) also it's important to remember that listening to great artist talk, you've got to get into their head first rather than taking their words literally at face value for exmaple when we hear gould talk, his language is reflection (verbal counterpointsof his music )ince talking tends not to be their fist medium.

  • god I love this interview is soooo funny

  • Comment removed

  • I thought she was very thoughtful, especially when she was talking about communication and not invasion, and concentration--3 things that make her the great artist that she is. She handled herself extremely well and considered each question seriously.

  • what shallow questions

  • i dont want to be like rude, but martha semms in some of her videos 2 like not care, or be distracted, Mitsuko uchida is always paying attention. they are both great pianists.

  • @CorelliChopin08 : So Mitsuko Uchida pays attention and Martha Argerich doesn't...That's a very interesting remark. Maybe you can provide us with a list of all musicians specifying whether thay pay attention to interviews or not. That would be awesome!

  • im only saying, does it not seem rude, not to pay attention. were i come it is very disrespectful not 2 keep eye contact. makes it seem like she just wants it done with.. or is that wat she wants?

  • 2:31 , I couldn't quite make out what she said, but it sounded like "this is my last concert"??!?!!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?! I hope to god it isn't and that we have many more years of beautiful music coming.

  • What a WEEEEEIRD interview. So stilted. The interviewer had no idea, and Martha was humouring her. LOL.

  • I love Martha Argerich :D

  • Charming

  • 4:55 "You know what I mean?" NO, she doesn't!

It's like interviewing Michael Jordan asking him if he enjoys dribbling the basketball. She is clueless and completely ignorant on the subject.

  • Her hair is looking great! Keep that conditioner on it!

  • not invasion but communication...brava Martha!

  • Well, I'm an older musician and I'm waiting for the phone call!

I'm sure I could still manage a few things these young upstarts could learn from! It's certainly very true that there are a lot of wonderful artists who didn't get the breaks etc when young but have continued to make great music out of the spotlight.

  • She's the best soul and artist the world has knew..She is My Martha:-)) :********

  • Love you Martha, amazing!

  • She's so talented. She gives life to the piano--what may look like an inanimate object. It's amazing that people can make beautiful music like this.

  • she's still so beautiful. naturally. just like her talent

  • After all these years, she still has that wonderful smile.

  • Wow!!! This is amazing video! Martha is a great person indeed!

  • Like Liszt she is great because SHE IS AN EXCEPTIONAL HUMANBEING>LIKE LISZT she is gracious ,warm ,concerned ALIVE.She is my ideal of natural perfection and foible. wow she cares for the lone musician. She thins of everything.i want her to live for ever the world is still lucky to have her in it.She is a communicative loving woman.Maybe Novaes had this.WOw.This woman is also so clever as a teen doing wht noone could do with her spirit and that mind .

  • Martha should have been the Nobel Prize winner at the very least. Actually, she is much too good for them ! The interviewing lady is too superficial and unknowledgeable to be talking to such an artist...

  • What a good idea ! Totally agree:-)

  • In which way should she win the Nobel Prize?

She's great pianist but there's no NP for musicians. Even for the greatest.

  • I know !... Isn´t it a shame, though ? Great musicians have done and continue to do a lot for human happiness and peace among the nations. It´s time they get some recognition for it.

  • True, but maybe there SHOULD be a Nobel Prize for Musicians.

  • @vova47

You have a good point about the interviewing lady. She talks about the piece is she just heard it once, without giving it a lot of attention. That's why she talks about "The slow piece", instead of the adagio, or andante, as well as she talks about "The man with the claps"xD I don't know the sophisticated word for it either, but if you're interviewing a GODDESS like Martha Argerich, you're supposed to know the deeper facts about her and the music she plays. Great interview, though!

  • Thank you for your comment, I agree wholeheartedly.

Every interview with Martha, however flawed, is valuable. And she still is very attractive lady ......

  • @vova47 often this is a problem-unknowledgeable interviewers!

  • What a spontaneous and playful lady! :) I love that she is a bit eccentric -- not at all boring to watch. I can see why she never liked making interviews -- with her high frequency energy she just does not stay still, LOL. And that's why I love her playing. ;)

  • Martha, I love you!

  • Very interesting, thanks for posting Kimolerik

  • I wish the interviewer was a real musician because with such a great sensivity as Martha has...interview would have been different then.Martha dropped her a clear hint: ¨ it is not a fix image¨. I would´t have had that patient after such a questions!

  • What beautiful person she is!

  • Beautiful !!

    Serena

  • she is so cute and simple ^^

and black is her color definitly

  • Mathra for ever!

  • Inspiration, concentration, communication , but not invasion, Thank you Matha!!

  • Thanks, kimolerik. I was really waiting for your upload of this interviewer and I crossed my fingers that you would. Hope you can also put the concerto on youtube. Thanks!

  • I like the smile she makes at 4:32 :D

  • Argentina"=]

  • Great

  • Yes that is her being herself.

  • Really enjoyed listening to this interview. Hope you'll post the evening concert soon. Thanks Kimo

  • wowow! what a gem, thanks kimolerik,I put this in my favourites...-)

  • Thanks Kimo for this...I always thought I was the first admirer, the first fan of her...well, I understand now, there is someone more "tireless" than me and a lot of people who love Martha as well!!... thanks!!

  • es una mujer increible! que coqueta! que niña...

    Gracias

  • I think Martha is really lonely. What she was saying about a home for musicians almost made me cry. She wants it so much to be real.

  • I mean not you sound cold, I think Martha got little sick dont u think guys?

  • well...for years, she has been fighting against cancer.... but the last time I spoke with her, she was really in health!

  • Martha Argerich!!! Take care, you sound little cold, wear warmer clothes, and long live! I'm hoping that everything will treat you wonderfully for your entire life!!!!!!!

  • Very interesting and very recent! Kudos for finding it and posting it so soon. Do you have her playing the concerto, too?

  • Thank you Kimolelik for posting this video .I just love her, bored, uncomfortable what ever, she has nothing to lose, She is just the best. Actually I love the way she is.

Somebody should tell her in those interviews : Thank you Martha for so much inspiration to so many musicians in this earth, instead of asking so many silly questions questions.

  • I totally agree!

  • Great Video!

    Thank you for posting!

    She is awesome!

    Brent

  • wow, how rare! Martha NEVER gives interviews...

  • Thank you again kimolerik... Another treat for us!

Martha is in fine form... her Ravel Concerto that evening was magnificent!

  • she seems a bit uncomfortable

  • I agree... perhaps because the interviewer does not respond to Martha's answers; actually Martha seems a little bored.

Wonderful to see Martha though, as always!

  • Yeah, she's not playing.

  • Peculiar interview, but love Martha immensely. COME BACK TO LONDON MARTHA!

  • Wonderful to see this interview.

  • THANK YOU friend!!!!
