FFVII is the Best!!! It's even more popular then FFX,and all the other's,yeah I played FFVI first,that's right First! And from the very beginning it bored me,the way the guy's pine over Terra I was like good lord,and speaking of weak,Terra is like the weakest main character in ALL the FF's,and for a 2D game it could of done alot better on that.And Kefka is not very deep,he's probably the biggest Joker Rip off in game history,I don't hate the game,but it's not FFVII,and can't EVER touch it!!!

OK so your saying that Final Fantasy VI is inferior then Final Fantasy VII just because of the fact that Final Fantasy VI has 2D graphics? Well, although I'm saying this through nostalgia goggles, the game is very good. It may be hard to get used to considering it's an older game and doesn't have the sexy graphics of the games we play today but it definitely deserves it's title as a classic in my opinion. Hopefully you'll find some decent reviews for it though before going through the trouble of installing it. Good luck if you haven't.

I really don't want FF7 to be remade. It was my favourite and in my opinion possibly the best, but just my opinion. Who needs fancy graphics to make the game better? I just think there's no point. The game was great as it was, end of.

@PointlessVideos4Life It's debatable whether this game is beta. It all depends do you perfer characters to have individual skills or be able to equip all the same magic. As for the story is arguable that it could have been told better if it was a shorter game sure it has a good story to tell. overall it's a good game but people make it overrated because they claim it to be the best. You can't say it's the best as games are always being developed technology is being expanded new stories are made

People just love to bitch and complain about FFVII. I guess its the "In" thing now to bash it. No FF game is the best. They all have their flaws and good points.
Maybe that's just my genre preference, but the story, music, and characters all really impress me. Although a lot of the mini games are pointless, and the plot is kind of confusing, overall it's a really good game. I think what people don't like about it is that it's different; the story is complex, the feel is unique, and nothing had been made like it before or since. If you like main stream shooters, avoid FF VII like the plague, if you are into deeper, more unique games, then give it a play.

A) Shitty story line- The main character is plain old vanilla boring-ooh he's a clone, done before or ooh his past is a mystery and maybe its just me but Aeris dying didn't upset me that much. I was more upset when Leo died in FFVI because he kicked ass or when Tellah died in FFIV because he was cool. And finally because nothing that you do after Aeris dies affects the final outcome of the story except for Sephiroth dying

Love FF VII actually on my third playthrough (This time on my PSP :D ) however FF IV or as some know it as II will always be my favorite, sure the story wasnt as complex and the ability system wasn't all fancy but I really connected with its story and Its characters, ( I mean cmon, Theres a dark knight who feels remorse and eventually atones for his sins and becomes a palidin) and it is responsible for my even liking the RPG genre. :)
actually ff7 was a mediocre game it was only popular because it came about at the right time and was the first 3D rpg people played. The story is greatly flwawed with many loopholes and cloud is pathetic they should of had zack instead.

Zack only meant he was entrusting the Buster Sword to Cloud, that he was the living proof that he lived.

@theultimateraider This is also something I'm very likely to believe is solely the fault of the translation, given what .i say this because the game does a piss-poor job of explaining various aspects of the plot to you. That actually isn't because of the translation. The original Japanese version of the script was just as vague on important things like the origin of Jenova, Sephiroth, Cloud's history, the Cetra, etc.
@RapturousxPoet an you might want to play the game again an again because they explain the plot to you many times, idk maybe if you actually try this time an read everything you might get it, also the theme of the story is life, misinformation is sub-plot, also i know about the japanese version an they do the exact same stuff as they did in the english version, your reading the first concept of the story , not the final version.
@theultimateraider The story is told in way where the player needs to put some effort into sifting through misinformation to find the truth. If you notice, "misinformation" is sort of a theme in the story. Almost every character believes something that turns out to be false.Cloud believes he was in Soldier.

@theultimateraider In my day villains were either evil incarnate (FFIV, FFV, Chrono Trigger, FFIX) or kicked extreme ass to get to the top (FFVI) or made no sense (FFVIII, FFIX).B) The materia system is perhaps the second worst FF system of all time. I mean besides Limit Breaks, which character you choose doesn't affect how the battles play in any way. I mean FFVI was awesome, if I wanted to steal I had to have Locke
@theultimateraider And to combat the criticisms of other systems I will detail why they are better than the Materia system. FF2 is worse than FF7.FFIV, while boring, at least had differentiation in characters. FFV, while it allowed you to form your characters' abilities you still had to early on what you wanted them to do i.e. you couldn't just take the abilities and swap them to someone else.
@theultimateraider FFVI ruled. FFVIII, while the draw system system is kind of shitty, noone ever claims it is better than FFVII so it should not stand up to such high standards. FFIX's system is a little bland, but still better than VII. FFX totally ruled, and while it is possible to make a character just like another one it takes a lot of work.

Comment 14: Who was it that said that almost all character development in gaming is done by the telling of the past? Well that describes Cloud, with the exception of a character dying. And btw, all Sephpy did in the actual present of the game was kill the one girl who everyone is so sad about, and President Shinra. In the actual present of the game, Kefka killed all of his own people, and literally caused the apocolypse. And as for his big sword, all it shows is that he's overpowered.
Seriously, if she were introduced in another game tofay, and it's was a faithful introduction, she'd be revealed as the emo she is. And of course Cid, the "badass old man" who smokes and swears. It's like he's a bad rip off of Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series, only without any real substance.

*FFVI spoilers*Comment 11: Uematsu, with the exception to a few songs(One Winged Angel) admitted that most of what he used was pure, synthetic Midi. It was one of the last few RPGs that used them, and dear god am I grateful. And honestly, I'll still take music played when you fight the bosses before you actually fight the final boss of FFVI over one Winged Angel.
Comment 11: With the exception to a couple quests where you actually do have to grind to complete(getting a...whatever color it is chocobo to get Knights of the Round.), it's still a 40-50 hour game, even if you do do everything, like most JRPGs.
also can be killed in less than 5 "turns" or whatever, as long as you use every still useful summon as much as you can. Again, this takes no real grinding, you just have to know where to find the summons, and considering how blurry and pixellated everything is outside of the CG scenes, it can be harder to do.
Comment 10: Oh yes, spending 2 hours in a Forest near...Fort Condor I think, and gaining maybe 5 levels, and bringing up Cloud and Barret up to level 3 Limit Breaks really counts as leveling too much. I'll admit though, FFVI was pretty easy too. I've yet to play a Final Fantasy title where almost every battle wasn't easy when you knew what you were doing. Honestly, I died more in the Kingdom Hearts games(another series whichI loved, although I've only played 1 and 2.) than every Final Fantasy game I've played. Then again, I kinda rushed through them.
Comment 8: Oh yes, and FFVI didn't have Materia, right? Honestly, at least FFVI had non-superficial differences to its characters besides overpowered Limit Breaks that you get automatically after taking enough damage which made almost every boss battle impossible to lose on purpose unless you did some sort of challenge where you can't use Limit Breaks(continued)
Comment 7: I'd say that the story isn't that great because most of the main cast aren't that great of characters. That and there's COUNTLESS plotholes, which, despite so many side games and direct to dvd or whatever movies, have never gotten filled. It's one of those "make up your own ideas for how things really are," like so many WHAT WOULD YOU DO? PSA's in the COld War era. And honestly, I gotta ask you, do you ever try explaining the storyline to others without your own speculation?

1. When Gremio sacrafices himself. How he knows that Tir(The main character) doesn't need him anymore as bodyguard, and that someone has to keep the door closed from the only way it will open, so only one person won't get eaten alive by the poison inside.

Comment 5: I've played a few DOS games way before FFVII that had MUCH better storytelling than this game. Hell, they managed to not be completely filled with plotholes. But hey, they don't matter to you, because you'd never touch an rpg with dialogue choices that actually made a difference.
Comment 3: I can think of countless things that FFVII ripped off, most of which were from sources that weren't rushed to make more money. I could agree with it making money than anything that it ripped off, but how much money something makes does not equal quality. By that definition, The Twilight Series is the best Vampire series ever made. Oh, btw, there'a certain character from Twilight that I'd say recieved her personality from someone in FFVII.

First of all, let me start off by saying that I myself enjoy FFVII, and for the most part, I don't hate its fanbase. I do however with anyone is an arrogant pricks about anything they love. I think that Planescape Torment is the best game of all time, but I think of someone as an idiot if they haven't played it, or didn't enjoy it. Just because someone doesn't love something you love doesn't make them too stupid to understand something.
what's sad is that ff7 by default is better than ff4-6 because of the time it was made.. the introduction to new graphics, and unlimited space to tell a story..

The dawn of souls version of the first installment is at a very close run with the seventh but all in all I must agree with you on the fact that the seventh is the best game ever made. I think the reason that kids today make fun of it is because they have never played it or they don't want to admit that a game for the ps1 is better than one of their fancy online war games. I have nothing against newer games but damn if you have played 1 you have played them all whereas ffvii is one of a kind.

Y'know in many ways FF7 actually is "ONE" of the best games ever. But in my opinion every FF takes you in and has a special quality about them that in their own way, each of them could qualify as the best one. Every time I finish an FF, I say to myself "Wow, that was the best FF game" and it's always for a different reason. I first realized this when I finished FF12. Its a very different game from what came before it, but that doesn't make it worse. I personally like it less, but it's not a POS.
Kids also say this game is overrated probably because they're parents say they can't play it because of Cid and Barret being too... Offensive? Whatever, they swear too much.

This was not even a review. It's the complete opposite of what you claim it to be. There were next to NO facts in this video... Just a bunch of statements saying it's the best game ever over and over. (Which is opinion by the way, NOT fact!) And talking about every aspect saying it's amazing. OK so your saying that Final Fantasy VI is inferior then Final Fantasy VII just because of the fact that Final Fantasy VI has 2D graphics? So just forget the characters ,forget the plot, and forget the sound track. Let's just focus on the graphics? Sure you can do that but you can only go so far. Well, although I'm saying this through nostalgia goggles, the game is very good. It may be hard to get used to considering it's an older game and doesn't have the sexy graphics of the games we play today but it definitely deserves it's title as a classic in my opinion. Hopefully you'll find some decent reviews for it though before going through the trouble of installing it. Good luck if you haven't.

Maybe that's just my genre preference, but the story, music, and characters all really impress me. Although a lot of the mini games are pointless, and the plot is kind of confusing, overall it's a really good game. I think what people don't like about it is that it's different; the story is complex, the feel is unique, and nothing had been made like it before or since. If you like main stream shooters, avoid FF VII like the plague, if you are into deeper, more unique games, then give it a play.

I will detail why FF7 is no good:
A) Shitty story line- The main character is plain old vanilla boring-ooh he's a clone, done before or ooh his past is a mystery and maybe its just me but Aeris dying didn't upset me that much. I was more upset when Leo died in FFVI because he kicked ass or when Tellah died in FFIV because he was cool. And finally because nothing that you do after Aeris dies affects the final outcome of the story except for Sephiroth dying

Love FF VII actually on my third playthrough (This time on my PSP :D ) however FF IV or as some know it as II will always be my favorite, sure the story wasnt as complex and the ability system wasn't all fancy but I really connected with its story and Its characters, ( I mean cmon, Theres a dark knight who feels remorse and eventually atones for his sins and becomes a palidin) and it is responsible for my even liking the RPG genre. :)

actually ff7 was a mediocre game it was only popular because it came about at the right time and was the first 3D rpg people played. The story is greatly flwawed with many loopholes and cloud is pathetic they should of had zack instead.
If you want a amazing game try xenogears it came out same time as ff7 and pwns it in everyway possible!

That is why that part of the plot is silly why not Just keep zack alive instead of having all that. @RapturousxPoet putting jenova as the mastermind puts hojo right in the same mix, you cant have 3 main villians, you have to have a villain that A) the gamer fears, 2) can break the rules of a story an kill one of the main characters, 3) can leave an impact throughout the whole game an not even fight him till the end. btw last order is not cannon, that was made by an indpepedant group hired by square, so you can throw that out the window. crisis core is cannon.

@theultimateraider This is also something I'm very likely to believe is solely the fault of the translation, given what .i say this because the game does a piss-poor job of explaining various aspects of the plot to you. That actually isn't because of the translation. The original Japanese version of the script was just as vague on important things like the origin of Jenova, Sephiroth, Cloud's history, the Cetra, etc.

@RapturousxPoet an you might want to play the game again an again because they explain the plot to you many times, idk maybe if you actually try this time an read everything you might get it, also the theme of the story is life, misinformation is sub-plot, also i know about the japanese version an they do the exact same stuff as they did in the english version, your reading the first concept of the story , not the final version.

If you notice, "misinformation" is sort of a theme in the story. Almost every character believes something that turns out to be false.Cloud believes he was in Soldier.

@theultimateraider In my day villains were either evil incarnate (FFIV, FFV, Chrono Trigger, FFIX) or kicked extreme ass to get to the top (FFVI) or made no sense (FFVIII, FFIX).B) The materia system is perhaps the second worst FF system of all time. I mean besides Limit Breaks, which character you choose doesn't affect how the battles play in any way. I mean FFVI was awesome, if I wanted to steal I had to have Locke

@theultimateraider And to combat the criticisms of other systems I will detail why they are better than the Materia system. FF2 is worse than FF7.FFIV, while boring, at least had differentiation in characters. FFV, while it allowed you to form your characters' abilities you still had to early on what you wanted them to do i.e. you couldn't just take the abilities and swap them to someone else.

@theultimateraider FFVI ruled. FFVIII, while the draw system system is kind of shitty, noone ever claims it is better than FFVII so it should not stand up to such high standards. FFIX's system is a little bland, but still better than VII. FFX totally ruled, and while it is possible to make a character just like another one it takes a lot of work.
btw i have to commend you for providing a good debate unlike all other ff7 fanboys who just say screw you cloud is best thing on the planet :)

And yes, he basically was a psychotic clown who only cared about power and causing destruction. That was the point. It was one of the last few RPGs that used them, and dear god am I grateful. also can be killed in less than 5 "turns" or whatever, as long as you use every still useful summon as much as you can. Again, this takes no real grinding, you just have to know where to find the summons, and considering how blurry and pixellated everything is outside of the CG scenes, it can be harder to do.

Comment 10: Oh yes, spending 2 hours in a Forest near...Fort Condor I think, and gaining maybe 5 levels, and bringing up Cloud and Barret up to level 3 Limit Breaks really counts as leveling too much. Hell, I don't even have to do that, because by then, just by not running away from battles, I've got Cloud and Barret's level 2 Limit breaks which do waaaaaaaaaay too much damage. What's more, the summons, despide taking waaaaaaaaay too long(not as long as later titles in the series.)(continued)

I'll admit though, FFVI was pretty easy too. I've yet to play a Final Fantasy title where almost every battle wasn't easy when you knew what you were doing. Honestly, I died more in the Kingdom Hearts games(another series whichI loved, although I've only played 1 and 2.) than every Final Fantasy game I've played. Then again, I kinda rushed through them.

I figured this video demands a detailed reply.
First of all, let me start off by saying that I myself enjoy FFVII, and for the most part, I don't hate its fanbase. I do however with anyone is an arrogant pricks about anything they love. I think that Planescape Torment is the best game of all time, but I think of someone as an idiot if they haven't played it, or didn't enjoy it. The dawn of souls version of the first installment is at a very close run with the seventh but all in all I must agree with you on the fact that the seventh is the best game ever made. I think the reason that kids today make fun of it is because they have never played it or they don't want to admit that a game for the ps1 is better than one of their fancy online war games. I have nothing against newer games but damn if you have played 1 you have played them all whereas ffvii is one of a kind.

Y'know in many ways FF7 actually is "ONE" of the best games ever. But in my opinion every FF takes you in and has a special quality about them that in their own way, each of them could qualify as the best one. Every time I finish an FF, I say to myself "Wow, that was the best FF game" and it's always for a different reason. I first realized this when I finished FF12. Its a very different game from what came before it, but that doesn't make it worse. I personally like it less, but it's not a POS.
