  • hmmm it looks fine until the solo, i fucking suck so hard with lead :/

  • @sirbumfluf i just copied some stuff form paul gilbert and joe satriani for this solo. good luck!

  • @raysonkong wait, that solo is something you composed? i thought it was part of the song, that's really cool man :)

  • hey can u give me d tabs of d solo??????

  • I'm doing RGT exams and we don't have to do any of this :L

  • @Ibeenez Because RGT is harder lol. There's more theory/chords and shit with RGT I believe.

  • no matter how good we are there will always be an asian to beat us :P nice man

  • I have to take my grade 8 next year... It looks easier than I thought it would be but it still looks quite hard

  • apparently im grade 8 guitar

  • Does Rockschool give tabs or sheet music for pieces?

  • @Strikerx20 BOTH ;D

  • @budbuddingdingMUSE : :D :D :D :D

  • the drum piece is identical, so possibly a guitairist and drummer both doing Grade 8 could play at the same time, would it be possible for you to get someone to do this with you?

  • 好彩唔算太難!-,-

  • Could somoene explain RockSchool to me? Do they teach instruments? Or do they just examine people who are already instrumentalists?

  • @xinasha no not now haha, but thanks!

  • @creepingdeth76 thanks!

  • WOW WELL DONE

  • where can i get sheet music ?

  • @cheqeredtubemarty it's a rockschool tune, so you have to buy their book actually

  • nice solo, 基本功十分穩健. enjoyable.

  • @sayonalahk thank you ar! u r chinese!? i am from hong kong

  • Sick man , I'm playing this next week :)

  • @ThisThirdWorld so how was your playing?

  • where can i find this piece's tabs? its really nc and ill probably have it for my exams this year.

great vid btw! great solo dude

  • @mariaonisiforou thanks!! it's an exam piece, so you have to buy the rockschool grade 8 book

  • @raysonkong ah ok thx:D

  • damn it! grade three haha, I will one day be able to play like this >.< <3

  • what a big fingers!!!

  • hmm.... so when guitar g8, EVERYONE MUS USE AN ELECTRONIC GUITAR????

  • @jtzy23 nah man, you can do classical grades too, this is the "rock" school board though.

  • @jtzy23 This is Rockschool. Rockschool focuses on rock, which typically focuses on electric guitar. There are other exams which focus on acoustic/classical...

  • @nyuuyoku REALLY... oh.. i see.. no offence but i love acoustic guitar more XDD hahah anyway, ELECTro . guitar. is super cool... but it's a little weird for a girl to play it =.=''||

  • @jtzy23 Why is it weird for a girl to play e.guitar?

  • @jtzy23 actually i am a girl.. and i am going to study electric guitar.. it just that u guys haven't used to a girl playing el.guitar xD

  • @mariaonisiforou go for it, everyone can do it, it's just a matter of effort really as long as you enjoy it

  • Yay. That was cool!

  • I'm learning this song atm, its quite a cool little song... very awesome solo dude :D

  • @thejoker1393 thanks!!!

  • sounds like synyster gates

  • two ladies jealous

  • In the exam they don't just give you full marks for playing the piece, you have to show real control over the instrument. I've seen people play this note for note, but without the right dynamics it sounds shocking.

  • the solo must have made you feel amazing first time you got it all correct. btw great vid glad you got your grade

  • Nice. Did you use blues scale for that solo?

  • If this is what you need for grade 8, where do I sign xD

  • hey dude... i've been playing for two years and i'm working on grade 4 :) i think you're really good man!!! does it take very long to get to your level :)

  • your accents are very good

  • i iz grade 5, but i appaently could be grade 8 by easter nxt year

  • wow that was immense!! :)

the solo really reminds me of iron maiden for some reason

    anyways well done.

  • So whats this rockschool thing is it a college activity or what?

  • Love the pinched harmonics!

  • I thought grade 8 would be harder than this!

  • @danielspital This is rockschool... it doesn't really count as an exam board imo.

  • @danielspital trust me dude they all look aesy but they are all really hard

  • @danielspital

You could try the "Guitar Encounters" course. My guitar teacher switched me to that because he thought Rockschool was too easy and wasn't really beneficial in the long term. And he was right.

  • @runtodemhills Yer I did the Rockschool grades for drums as well and they were so easy compared to the guild hall ones. Grade 8 rockschool is roughly equivelant to grade 4 guild hall!

  • @danielspital Not at as easy as it looks man, this guys amazing

  • @Fretburn999 yer to be fair the solo looks a little tricky

  • @danielspital Tbh me too.. :/

Oh well! easier to say you're grade 8! :P

    Lmfaoo

I think its the technicality side thats the diffictulty. I can remember the sweep tapping. i wasn't great at it at when i did my exam :(

  • @gregsyn I still suck at sweeping. I just can't seem to get any better at it!

  • @danielspital Rgt.

  • @danielspital You'll suprised how hard it is to nail this, and to get the grade you gotta know your theory, scales and be able to improvise.

  • @Kakashi1087 Yeah I know. It's harder than it looks

  • Nice Man (Y) Might learn it for my next GSCE music exam :D

  • I thought you sounded fantastic. But can someone help me here? I'm self taught and I've never taken exams neither do I know the standard of a grade 8 piece. I've been playing about 2 and a half years, and this seems easy for a grade 8. Is this really a grade 8 difficulty? I was expecting something on the level of Racer X Scarified.

  • UIHU

  • Dam!! ur amazin! loved da solo by da way!!

  • any ideas for beginners? i want to learn how to play really bad dude... i just need some hints and tips..

  • sick!!!!

  • im 11 and iv e been playing drums for 3 years and im on grade 6 and im doing well .... its pretty easy [grade 6]

  • Haha, wow that was incredible!

  • Did you write the exam? What was your score? I am a teacher and I am going to be teaching this sylabus soon.

  • They should make the grades harder.

  • Are you a japanese? or chinese(your ascent sounds like chinese)

  • its been a little more than a year since i've started learning Guitar, and am doing the rockschool grade 4 right now. I am on the "Rage Against Everything" Piece and everything's perfect. The only difficulty i have is in making up a solo for my piece. I needed some help and some tips as to how can i create a good sounding solo. I know the scales and stuff but please help!!

  • @develia your only doing grade 4 so if you use the pentatonic scale and maybe a minor scale it should be fine, try to make a lead melody using a scale that follow the chords, ask your teacher if you dont know what key to use for the solo, you dont have to play anything remotely hard as long as its clear and sounds good to your ear

  • @lightyagarmi thanks.. another trouble with me is that i own only an electro acoustic and that doesn't leave enough to improvise and use the upper notes lower down on the fretboard. I plan to buy an Electric Guitar soon within a month.. but on acoustic everything sounds too wierd and childish.

  • @develia since its grade 4 it dosent matter if you dont play it high up. you can alwawys play in the lower position and when you get your electric just play it an octave higher

  • Do you improvise the solo?

I'm taking the exams Rock school level 1 - 8 in summer term.

I'm a shredder metal chuggen guy, i'd be able to play these songs.

Just the solo's i'd prefer doing myself. YOU RULE MAN!

  • Lol I hope we get to this book in my guitar class We are only on book 5 and its so boring.

  • Solo. Enough said :D nicely played

  • nice one, check out my version :)

  • liked the PG string skippin in the solo, so much so that ive composed a solo based of PG string skippin arpeggios, havent quite nailed it though. thanks for the idea though

  • thanks for you kind words

  • @raysonkong Great Playing. :)

  • awesome where can i get tabs?

  • at that point I had been playing for about 6 years

  • @raysonkong god damnit.. I've been playing about 6 but im still on grade 4 i do really need to stop learning dumb theme tunes and practice more :L

  • hey in the grade r u able to improvise da solo dat was grt

  • @bcrichboy06 im doing grade 5 and u have to improvise every solo in all the pieces, so my guess is yes

  • only on grade 4 :L are the songs in grade 5 any good?

  • @george01827 ye, theyre great :) Songs like Sidewinder and All Funked Up can be a challenge but theyre fun to play and listen to :)

  • ohh its the same as the drums then :L:L i really liked the metallica feel on sidewinder ;) im on grade 6 on drums now... skipping out grade 7 tho.. sooo any reccomendations for when i do grade 8 (not what happened to jazz please)

  • You got skills bro! Is that an Ibanez from RG series? I have an Ibanez 270 DX myself relly good guitar ;P , anyway keep rocking dude

  • I love your solo, awesome. Nice one!

  • 0:58 MCLOVIN!!!!!!!

  • I'm mostly self-taught from watching john petrucci instructional dvds. This song seem is interesting - its nice to see a sort of generic piece of Metal. It has elements of Dream Theater, Megadeth (awesome sweep picking arpeggio), and a wee neo-classical yngwie part at the end :). I think I'm going to learn some rock school stuff now.

  • doing my grade 8 in febuary has anyone got any tips

  • Rather easy for grade 8 actually, I expected it to be around Yngwie standard.

  • hey i need help on the harmonic squeals at 1:13.

i have a yamaha pacifia with a marshall mg10. i can't seem to get any good squeals out and i've tried a number of ways. is it my guitar & amp combo or my playing style?

    cheers

  • make sure you have the tone high enough to get the squeal. can you actually pinch harmnic?

  • please, please, please call the pinched harmonics

  • experience with your thumb angle of your pick hand, practise with a clean tone so that you can hear everything . trust me.

  • if u can do pinched harmonics with a clean tone, isn't it a gurantee that you can do it with distortion?

  • hey dude nice solo, where can i get this backing track cuz i wanna skip to grade 8 but wanna get something down before hand?

    thanks

  • I love your use of pinch harmonics, I only hope that when I hit grade 8, I can do that well. Your use of scales in the solo was really dynamite!

  • thanks dude! keep rocking!

distortion helps, but try practising with a clean tone , that' the secret though. because i always practise with a clean tone so that i can hear everything, and then when u hit the pedal, it's is you are turned to god.

  • Well apparently I'm on the right track then. I practice through a totally dry tone, an acoustic, and THEN with effects. That way, I get all my options and possibilites, especially in the inprov parts. I even do my work on a 12 string just for a totally different setup. I'm also working on adapting one of my grade 4's, "Secret Place", as a blues fiddle tune. You're a big help and i like the style with which you approaced 667, really cleanly done!

  • and try to relax the forearm of your pick hand too, in case you feel stiff

  • That's something my violin teacher really stressed with me, it's essential to good violin playing.

  • thank you everybody for coming by my channel. i didn't realise i get some views for the video!

  • ur pickin too hard...that gives the unnecessary 'chuck' sound..

  • No it doesn't...The mic is near the guitar so picking up the sound of the guitar and the amp.

  • hmm..alright.

  • i do pick very hard for a song like that. u r right.

    but define "unnecessary".

  • well...unnecessary as in...u really dont want that 'chuck' sound, do you...the fact that it really isnt wanted makes it unnecessary...

  • i just got the grade 3 book today

  • Very nice solo man! That's the only part of this song that really shows any serious ability, thats not a dig at you, just at the song haha. The rest of the song is perfectly played but yeah, the solo was reaaaaaaally nice!

  • I love this song! I had to learn it for my grade 8 drums

  • What you actually gotta do for grade 8? cos that doesnt look hard, I've been playing for 6 years untaught.

  • play 3 songs, and do like techinical excersizes involving improvisation and chord stuff by ear.

  • i could do the intro part...... and the power chorded parts...

  • im doing grade 8 guitar, trying to lear those triplets on the end, i dont pick them all i pull off on the first set starting on the 12 and stuff, its hard, and im trying to figure out my own solo, urs is sweet! i might post a reply to ur vid soon and hopefully u can tell me what u think :p

  • i do pick them all, in fact i think its sound more even that way..keep rocking!

  • really good, im goin 4 my grade 2 now lol

  • Really good, doing my grade 6 in Nov, loved your playing, spesh the solo!

  • Those are some killer string skips ons the solo, I never bother with grades though. I got fed up with them playing piano so never bothered with them playing guitar, I thiunk thay kinda hold you back a bit too really since you spend a lot of time just going over the same thing untill it's perfect

  • thats what you do anyway when practicing an instrument

  • I do that anyway but I'm talking more about the scales which have to be damn on perfect, I go more by the principle that it's better to have an almost perfect exercise and move on to harder exercises than spend lots of time perfecting one since to me the net product of how I do things seems to be greater. Since the next exercises I do are harder, they will generally make up for the almost-perfectness of the previous one.... if you see my point

  • I can understand what your saying. However, i'm working on grade 6 drums and i'm finding it to be very helpful technique wise. The grades also get more interesting to play as you go through them. I can see why a lot of people don't want to do them though :)

  • they dont hold u back, they improve ur playing an incredible amount

  • I guess it's all a matter of opinion, I absoloutly hated grades on piano and they ultimatle led to me quitting

  • if u quit, don't find an excuse. u quit because u don't like it, not because of some stupid exams.

  • Asside from the exams, I could never find anything that I wanted to play. As it is now, I'm getting on much better at guitar but I might try giving piano a shot some time soon when my exams are over. Hopefully the exam hate will have gone by then

  • such a badass song im learning the grade 8 bass for this at the mo

  • Haha, the guy doing the count for this one seems so angry while doing it. For all the calm pieces he's so chilled.

  • Sweet solo, superb phrasing! Well done buddy! :D

  • the solo is very satrianish and awesome

  • whered you get the backing track?

  • Probably from the actual book...

  • did you write the solo or do rockschool give you a tab for one?

  • write from grade 3 onwards

  • I'm doing Rock School Grade 8, and i spend about half an hour every day, solid, good practice, and then as long as I want on other things, just make sure you spend at least that half hour doing structured practice :)

  • b0bm3rley i have been playing for 6 months and im now goin for my grade 1...

  • i couldent be bothered doin em so... i have a reason you prick

  • Ive been playing 13 months and going for my grade 7. No point doing one. Waste of money.

  • cool lol ive known the songs for grade 1 since 2006 so why waste my knowledge?

  • Exactly :P

  • Srsly?? how often do u practise??

  • 30 minutes of PROPER practice, seriously if you practice the right stuff you really get an advantage over other guitarists.

  • 45 minuites per session 3 times a day

  • Thats good too :P

  • what sort of stuff is the right stuff? what do you practise? i do various things... what are good things and what are bad things?

  • Practice stuff like scales, sweeps or even songs, very slowly for like 3 days, 30 minutes of practice everyday (do more if you want, but 30 minutes of REAL, CONCENTRATED practice is enough ). After these 3 days of practice, what ever you were practicing should be easy. The main thing is to practice very slowly, and think about what you are doing. Also practice before bed (seriously, then it goes through your brain all night :) ).

  • so true

  • your not up to 8! you just say you are to pretend ur good!

    Nice try though :D

  • man that`s the most awsome i`ve ever seen congratulations

aaajjjj when in life i gonna do sweep that way

  • 1:42 is a rip off from Joe Satriani's "the crushing day"

  • rock on dude that was amazing

  • gotta remember ta flick that selector switch after the solo,

    otherwise pretty damn good...

    well done dudeo...

  • that was amasing, my teacher adam does it with no effort at all, yet again so do you

  • How long have you been playing, that was great!

Oh, and will people please stop trying to "boast" about lame skills over the web. It isn't cool.

  • do you have to write your own stuff to go with this??????

or do you just learn the same thing as this on a tab in the book.

im thinking of skipping 1-7 and go straight to eight cuz i cant be arsed to waste my money on grade 1 stuff.

so do you write your own stuff to this or wot?????

  • it's ok to skip the exams. but not the musical steps, so if you are confident that you can nail it nicely, go for it.

  • ok cool.

did you write that solo yourself, beacuse i watched a differnent video and they had a different solo to you, i think?

  • you have to make up the solo in the middle, the rest is wirtten in the exam book

  • loser

  • why call him a loser..

and yeah ive skipped grades 1 - 7 and im going for this, it seems pretty easy and i know all my theory

  • prick

  • lol ive bein playin for 4 years and i aint done grade 1 but im goin 4 it

  • Will the power chords never end?!

  • nice solo in the middle and run @ the end by the way, it looks difficult lol

  • I did my grade 6 in college and now i have to get a grade 8 book soon, the newer editions arent as scary as the old grade 8 stuff, metal mania was mental compared to this, it looks fun to play though =]

  • DUDE, i dont kno wtf everyone is talking about rock school... but this is an amazing song
