We did this cover for The Carpenters' tribute album "If I Were a Carpenter". We originally wanted to do "Superstar" and were granted that track. But then Sonic Youth said they'd only participate if they could do that song. We were kind of bummed. By then all the "good" songs were already taken. We found this obscure cover Carpenters did of this alien Klaatu song. The very best part of all of this, is that Richard Carpenter said this was his favorite track on the tribute album. So there.

Klaatu version sucks though I believe it's the original. The Carpenters version is better. This version's the best.
