no matter what amazing event you are going to see w/ dave and tim...@ least one person is going to always yell something bizarre while they ear-gasm. oh rye whiskey
I believe I've heard the DaveSpeak that precedes this song. Something about when people are shouting at him that he wants to just keep talking and not play. Something like "You paid for a ticket for Dave and Tim, that just means we are gonna be here, it doesn't mean we're gonna play anything" lol :) I think that's what was going on there in the beginning where he gets ready to play and then people stop shouting and he stops and says "See? New power."
wow, you guys are stupid, half the fun of going to a concert like that is singing along to the songs, so why dont you guys shut the hell up, get off your computer, and actually go see a real concert, watching videos on you tube does not entitle you to any opinions whatsoever.
@Musicdude171 There's absolutely nothing wrong with SINGING along with the songs, but when so many people seem to be at a show to get HEARD rather than to LISTEN to Dave's stories or Dave's and Tim's guitarplaying, there's definitely something wrong with the whole picture. I have been to a handful of D&T shows and at each show, a bunch of so-called fans spent the entire night shouting, calling out song requests in the middle of a Davespeak or talk extremely loud during slow songs.

I am currently remastering this show - if you want it just send me a message.
Also to all the frat boys your homoerotic chantings of "WE LOVE YOU DAVE" are a pain in the fucking ass to get out of a song. So PLEASE stop screaming this - just because you are a tool, doesnt mean you need to let the whole world know. Also, please refrain from clapping during slow songs - I cannot edit them out and it is even more annoying.
So am I a tool because I am offering my services by remastering a great show? Or am I a tool because I HATE when drunk fratboys scream during a quiet, intimate song like "Stay or Leave"? Or perhaps I am a douche because i am frustrated that when trying to remaster a show that I can get everything to sound really good, but I cannot get loud screams out that really kill the mood of the song?... you tell me.
this chord progression is sick to solo over, its flexible and circular. the energy can keep building and building and with someone as good as Reynolds soloing...game over. awesome track!
when are people going to stop trying to drown out dave's voice by singing along so loud? seriously takes away from the show. you go to see dave, not to listen to thousands of people sing along to his songs
Best D&T LIOG ever - I can't believe why people feel the need to shout so much at every D&T show, it really can ruin the experience. Stop that stupid screaming, nobody cares about you, and what songs you love
@keravnos28 - With Tim's annoying "one-note" solo? I know they intended to "play music with just one note" as they say in the extra material on the DVD, but it still is an annoying solo nonetheless :)
@Lorentzen This solo, like most of Tim's solos, is extremely annoying. He's a good player, I'm not saying he's not. But the solos he does are not that hard compared to a lot of the other stuff he does. Other than these eardrum splitting pieces, I love listening to these guys. Really soulful.
It was on the campus of Miami (Ohio). I was at the show, and it was great. The only bad thing was the idiot Miami frat boys screaming throughout the whole show. Those guys tried to ruin it, but it was still an amazing show.
I'd have smacked em - someone shoulda smacked em! I hate people like that, the vibe at a dave and tim concert would be amazing, to ruin that is a travesty.
It was definitely 3-31-03,I was there & have an audio disc of the entire show & this is the exact same version of "LIOG".....This really brings back some memories:)
I was at this show and remember the guy yelling (he really let the guy have it later) and the big drink of the cup at the beginning of the song. It's the only one of Dave's shows that I got to see Proudest Monkey. Great show.
After 10yrs of listening to DMB and D&T, I know a bit of this. To help, it's definitely from 2003. The stage set up, Tim's solo, and the next song of Blue Water tease says it's from 2003, not 2007. Try 2003 D&T tour. And it's not from 3-28-03, b/c i went to that show. That should narrow down the field. And judging by the great version, it's probably a latter show than 3-28. Good luck...
this was from live at luther college i belive its that or radio city music hall either one is excellent. i currently have all his cd's and some tr3 stuff but not positive on which 1 its on
3 foot 9!! are you retarded, midgets usually reach 4 foot and he doesnt look much like a midget to me!! who cares how tall he is, this is the most awesome performance ever thing ever. Although the 2 step and crash into me performances on hampden coliseum come close
my friend went to the concert a couple days ago with dave and tim and he said u werent allowed to scream in between songs or sing with him, but they still do it anyway
Dave Matthews has traditionally been very conversational with the crowd, although the last 8 or 9 years have made that virtually impossible due to large venues. I guess that is the price he has to pay. The Grateful Dead had a similar experience.
Actually, Dave enoys people yelling in between songs. Oldschool Dave fans use to scream which songs they want to hear cause Dave never really bothered with setlists so he let people in the crowd tell him what to play. This kind of changed as the band got bigger, but a lot of old fans still enjoy the occasional "Play Jimi Thang" or "Do #41"
I think clapping is good. That's what they aim for. I met Dave and he says if he can get the audience to participate and really get into the music then he's accomplished his goal. With songs like his, that is a very easy thing to do.
that is NOT what they aim for. In fact, there have been a number of occasions where D&T had to literally stop a song because people were screaming and shouting and completely disrupted their performance. And that is a fact. If you look at some of the setlists and reviews of shows on the online archives you will even read reviews from fans where they go in detail about such an incident. Audience participation has its limits.
?? focus?? u mean ignore the clapping and pretend its not there? Kind of like just pretend we don't have an asshole in the oval office running things; and then we can rest assure everything is gonna be alright. LOL.
No the two are not wholly dissmilar in that they both continue to occur despite efforts to resist, are both highly frustrating, both take away from the integrity of the bigger picture, both are the result from the same type of persons (selfish, self-centered, ill-advised, cold-hearted, mean natured)....so nope they're definitely NOT very different.
