@thestjimmy108 Both wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were never declared by congress therefore making them unconstitutional. Yes before you come back with vietnam and korea I would also argue those were illegal as well. A president shouldn't have that kind of power and they aren't suppose to.

@Helimental22 Iraq was illegal, but afghanistan was not illegal. We had every right to invade, due to the just war doctrine. The taliban refused to hand over al-qaeda, so they were just as guilty as they were, so we invaded to throw them out of power. It's called self-defense. You seem to be a strict constitutionalist, but the problem is that time changes things. If you want to go back to the original constitution, women couldn't vote, and slavery was still legal, do you want that?

The Founding Fathers never envisoned us living west of the Mississippi, and men like Jefferson never imagined the possibility that blacks and whites could live together, but yet today, many races live together in the U.S. in relative peace. The system has evolved where the executive has much more power, and with good reason, there are more challenging issues today than in 1789.

Great men such as Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, and Bush 41, among others, all played a role in helping defeat this. Doing anything to the extreme is dangerous, moderation is the key to success in life. Any pure system, whether pure capitalism or pure socialism is bound to fail. You always need a mishmash.

I believe in rule of law and Bush, and now Obama they both have no authority to enter other countries under UN resolution.
