  • Zo n goed nummer

  • what's the line up on this song?

  • Poor dog! Pmsl!! XoD \m/

  • Actually i live 15 miles from the still Cam waters. hee hee

  • Jeez, I`d forgotten all about Billy The Fish.

Actually if you listen to the song without watching the vid you realise just what an amazingly well written and well produced song this is.

They just don`t make `em like this any more.

  • vastly underrated song. should have been a huge hit !!

If only Fish were not such an ugly fucker.

Only pretty boys allowed on Top of the Pops.

    shame.......

  • @ElyDeadpool2010 lol Fish's dress sense also came into question. I remember Viz comic poked fun at him in the Billy The Fish strip portraying him as a delusional pop star whilst looking disheveled with a bushy beard, receding hair line and baggy pullover.

  • with that clotehs, pete looks like a good hobbie...

Marillion is amazing... fish-age was really good too.

  • My collegue helds a garden party tomorrow. I am not invited.

    Maybe i will go nevertheless.

Then i will be an uninvited guest.

  • Marillion didn't choose to invade just any old garden party...these toffs were the winners of the prestigious Upperclass Twits of the Year award for 1983.

  • a bit of Marillion trivia-this video marks the only appearance of Andy Ward with the band-he played drums for them from when Mick Pointer was fired in March '83 to July '83, when the band had to cancel several dates in the US due to Ward's alcohol problem.

  • ...and who will be the upper class twit of the year?

  • Marillion, IMHO, defined the real essence of progressive music!

  • Part of my great memories from the 80's ... love this band and the meaning each of their songs hold for me from a special moment in time.

  • a better follow up to 'the Lamb' then Trick O T T by Genesis. Fish studied Gabriel's style heavily.

  • like Genesis decided to not break up and con't w/Gabriel. More a follow up to the Lamb then the real deal! amazing. i do like Trick of the Tail too.

  • i thought that Genesis cover band name is The Musical Box? LOL well at least i didn't say Marilly was better w/ Fish. Viva La Marillion!

  • I'm burning joss sticks and polishing my crystal collection while listening to this. :-)

  • Wow,they where so young.Used to be one of my favorite bands. After Genesis offcourse;--)

  • Fantastic song, great video. Thanks so much for posting.

  • such good music

  • i love how relevant this song is again with social political politics at the moment

  • i love how relevent this song is again with social political politics at the moment

  • An amazing band and an anamazing video. Saw them in Vancouver, Canada in 1986 on the Misplaced Childhood Tour. One of my Best Concerts. Great band with great music.................the original lineup will be truly missed. A band like this, and, Genesis, sadly, will never come again. Enjoy the music they have created.

  • @rocktistic

Check out IQ...plenty of great neo-prog bands around.

  • I notice Mick Pointers temporary replacement Andy Ward managed to get his 5 minutes of fame in this video!

  • Just Love it!

Love it when fish touches the ladies leg while the vicar is picking up her

bag from the ground & he gets a wink ;-)

  • einfach nur klasse !!!!!!!!!!

  • Genesis pastiche personified. How on earth this track charted in 1983 is amazing. I suppose punk had just about subsided by then and new wave was in its prime. Keyboards were back in full force so I suppose after the prog hiateus fans of the genre were ready for another band to bring rock and synth back to the fore. 'It Bites' kinda continued this trend of pop/prog until 'dance' music arrived in the late 80's and, well, here we are in 2010. :-s

  • @NarcissistsDie

    Ironic handle?

If you really must attempt intellect, at least learn to fucking spell.

  • @ShoeiBoy If you really must attempt at making a reply, have a fucking point. Tit.

  • @NarcissistsDie

Good plan. Plagiarise & stick to words of two syllables or less. Clearly more your level.

Except you can't even fucking get that right. What language is "attempt at" supposed to be exactly?

And you call me a tit. Oh the irony.

  • @ShoeiBoy Oh, I see, this a lesson in English is it? That makes sense I suppose. Growing up as white English citizen I will not have been subjected to the racism you will have. I went to school with kids who had Asian and Oriental ancestry - they had a brilliant grasp of the English language because, quite simply, they had to. Having said that, you could always fuck off back to Bangladesh if English people aren't really speaking YOUR English and making life so hard for you. Bell boy.

  • @NarcissistsDie Oddly enough, I am white English too.

I don't have your gift for unwarranted bigotry and racism though clearly.

Shameful. I guess you won't know what that word means either though, which oddly enough is also shameful in and of itself.

If I were you I'd quit now before you open your gob again and make yourself look even worse..

  • @ShoeiBoy How many 'oddly enough' do you need rice boy? What's up, losing your cool because I've exposed what you are? Hilarious. Like I've said before, come back when you have a point about the video in question instead of basing your whole argument on a single typo or grammar issue. Fucking 'chip on the shoulder' idiot.

  • @NarcissistsDie The only thing you have exposed is that you are a thick cloth-eared racist cunt.

  • @ShoeiBoy Yeah, keep playing the racist card, because you've got fuck all else to offer. Now fuck off.

  • @NarcissistsDie

It's you who has nothing to offer, which was my original point you doss cunt.

  • @ShoeiBoy Your original point? Are you really this fucking stupid? You never had a point, you just made an insult. How is that having a point? How is that offering anything? It's all here in black and white you fucking colossal prick.

  • @NarcissistsDie "made" an insult. Oh please fuck off. Since you are so hard of thinking, I'll reiterate yet again. My original point was that you really shouldn't pretend to be intellectual when you can't fucking spell.

That's not an insult, it's just a piece of friendly advice.

When you use words without knowing how to spell them or what they mean, you just look like a dick.

    You're welcome.

  • @ShoeiBoy Who's pretending to be intellectual? It's just a post with a spelling error that's rattled your cage because you are an immigrant cunt with a massive chip on your shoulder. Using YouTube to try and ease your insecurities won't help. Fuck off back to your family and convalesce.

  • @NarcissistsDie

"Genesis pastiche personified. How on earth this track charted in 1983 is amazing. I suppose punk had just about subsided by then and new wave was in its prime. • @NarcissistsDie

No... you weren't pretending to be intellectual at all, were you... fucking twat.

  • @ShoeiBoy Aaaah, what's up? You pretentious little tosser. Become a victim of your own English exam have you? Come on, don't be shy, you need to call yourself a fucking idiot for not knowing when to use correct punctuation. After all, It's just some friendly advice.

  • @NarcissistsDie You don't have the wit or intellect to be giving anyone advice.

  • @ShoeiBoy Is that it, after 2 days? One word: owned. Now piss off you fucking amateur.

  • @NarcissistsDie

Owned? Oh do fuck off you noob.

Got better things to do than endlessly respond to the inanity of a trolling dullard.

  • @ShoeiBoy You really do make a rod for your own back. First the English exam, which you failed at, and now proclaiming you have better things to do than endlessly responding. Well, please respond again as that wilI score me a second ownage. Also, regarding trolling ...erm.... you came to me petal or has that little nugget of reality escaped you as well? You are, without doubt, the thickest cunt I've come across in here.

  • @NarcissistsDie *yawn*

  • @ShoeiBoy 2.0

  • @ShoeiBoy funny that though,isnt it?

some nose bleeds never go away.

  • @newaver64

...fucking tragic. Like anyone gives a shit.

Guess I musta touched a nerve tho eh ;)

  • @ShoeiBoy yup...lmao. its a song first of all.

get into arguing , some are emotionally immature

    even old people.

    sad really.

    peace. : )

  • @newaver64 Some of us are just immature - his name is Derek DICK! *giggle*

    seriously though fucking great song!

  • @MrBothersome well,at least he's got one..hahaaha

  • Precious reminisce moments of my teenage years and memorable song ...

  • Adoro ente grup.... despues de tantos años Marillion / Fish son lo mejor !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gracias por compartir tanta hermosa musica

  • top tune

  • reminds me of my old boarding school

  • Not heard this for years, and now I hear Pink Floyd overtones, which is good.

  • @GBPaddling yea i do too. like a roger waters thing w/ his voice when shoutin the title. mostly Genesis...kind of a hodgepodge.

  • ¡¡¡QUÉ GAMBERROS Y TRAVIESOS FISH Y COMPANY EN LA FIESTA DEL JARDÍN!!!!...

  • WOW THANXS FOR POSTING FRANCESCODRAGHI 1989!!! COULD U CHOOSE A SIMPLER NAME TO REMEMBER PET!!!

  • Garden Party forever and ever!

  • Marillion is so good that by splitting we got Fish Marrilion and Steve Hogarth Marillion. We got two Marillions, more songs and two finest of the original. There is nothing better than original Marillion, but there is nothing out in the world like current Marillion. Steve Hogarth's contribution makes it magical and rhythmical in new way. Thank you Steve, thank you Fish!!!

  • Love it

  • wspanialy kawałek,cały czas wraca do mnie

  • This was where it began for me. great days

  • Me fascina esta canción y video, y bueno...ver y saber que estuvo en ésta época con ellos uno de los mejores bateristas de esos tiempos: Andy Ward (Camel) la hace aún mejor ;-)....so welcome! it´s a party!

  • VERY FUNNY VIDEO... I LIKE IT VERY MUCH

  • marillion has'nt been same after fish left but this is great song

    Long Live Marillion

  • Takes me back to a certain afternoon in the 80s. Great song, and this video means a lot to me. They were never better.

  • hello vicar grab a glass of fizz! mark kelly looks better now with his head balder than a porn star's muff

  • "I'm miming...."

brilliant way of omitting an expletive.

  • @smidsyonfire

First time I've noticed that !!

  • Probably Marillion's finest moment, amongst so many classic songs, I could listen to this one continuously.

  • may i be so bold to perhaps to suggest othellio

love it love it love it

  • fish rocks!

  • I like Marillion with Fish. Not so much after his departure...Cool vid!

  • polished ladder lol.. good times indeed! think it actually was the first song i ever heard from them!

Rothery had to bee the priest

cos of his beard...! Been in love

    with chameleons ever since...:D

  • gasarvid said, "polished ladder lol.."

Actually, that line is not what you think. The full lyric is "Social climbers polish ladders," referring to people shmoozing others to climb the ladder of success or enhance their social stature. It's not sexual double entendre at all.

Mind was in the gutter, eh? *laugh*

  • Oh yeah, and this is a great song. Thanks Pandora for recommending!

  • Fish was oddly attractive, if I remember *hides*

  • From his music videos, you can tell that Fish is a pretty good actor. I think he's actually acted in a few movies, but I'm not sure.

  • funny vid!

  • This track always reminds me of a great period in my life. It always cheers me up and I get images of people and places from that time. I really wish I could go back to that era.

  • i agree this was a good time for me 1983 no cares or worries- cheers me up too. never get tired of it , mark kelly class!

  • Is girl on violin hazel o connor or just looks like her?

  • One thing this world is not ever short of is pillocks.....there's one down there....revolting comment

  • Amazing this has only had 52355 hits. It is far superior to Keyleigh, in my opinion of course.

YouTube is fantastic for some of comments alone.

HIS mother obviously got laid at least once.

  • Peter Pan and Lost Boys rule!

  • perfect soundtrack for my garden party this afty...

now all I need is less rain than a typical British summer usually provides on any special outside daytime event planned ;)

  • I prefer the full length version of "The Great Cucumber Massacre"!

    "Edgy Eggs and Queing Cumbers!"

    "Rudely Wakened from their Slumber!"

"Time has come again for Slaughter!"

"On the Lawns by still Cam Waters!"

I never get bored with the lyrics in a Marillion Song!

  • Steve Rothery as a Priest = Priceless :D

  • awesome awesome band...

  • The spooky kids who knew witchcraft from the council estate that never existed..there is a bõok in there somewhere!

  • I agree!

  • a pretty brave clip. one of the best Marillion's songs. Thanks for posting!

  • Thank you for posting this! I haven't seen the video in years but loved it at the time - I've just realised the house is Groombridge Place, where The Draughtsman's Contract was filmed (and the recent Pride and Prejudice with Ikea Knightley) - the trees in the garden are a species of giant redwood so the place has a very odd atmosphere.

  • Fish era RULES!!!! =)

  • My Favourite FISH era film clip :)

  • Yeah you are so right

What else rhym's with I'M rucking

    but

    I'm Fu u cking

    NOTHING

    :-))))))

  • It was probably a lot easier for Marillion to get their recording contract than it ever was for your mother to get laid.

If she were in any way responsible for your shit attitude then the above applies triple.

    Have a nice day.

  • The only thing Marillion and his mother's sex life have in common is fishiness

  • Not

  • splendidi echi gabrielliani...

il cuore prog abtte ancora forte...

  • presente y futuro gracias marillion

  • Gorgeous song, I have always loved it.

    Greetings from Hungary.

  • very beautiful music and video thanks for posting

  • fucking great band!

  • i love this song, im only 20 too :)

  • Hey, I'm 20 too.

I'm more of a metal fan (80's. NOT the hair "Metal" stuff), but otherwise I love progressive rock and Alternative rock.

    Great song.

  • social leaches! I loved this video when I was a kid, now I love it even more!

  • Great song and video!

  • yeah,sure...but this is about music,you know?

  • I LOVED this video when I was a kid! I haven't seen nor heard this since the early eighties and I was about ten years old. I see now why I liked the music so much, because I was already a huge Genesis fan. :)

  • In an era where once great bands like Genesis, Yes, & Rush sold out and went pop, Marillion was a fresh breath of air. Witty, inventive, and brilliant, this is English rock at its finest.

  • @skincauldron ...still trying to figure out where Rush went "pop"...been a fan since Fly by Night...

I can see Genesis (after Gabriel/Hackett left) and Yes (90125)...but Rush...???

Spirit of Radio does not make them 'Pop"

zero air play to this day....

  • @SolarTiger

That would be from Power Windows to Presto. Those three albums are easily my least favorite because of the pop-y sound and feel.

Speaking as a huge Rush fan, even those albums have their moments, but overall much, much weaker than the rest IMO. Everything else is all good though. :)

  • i'm F**KING!

  • lol-it was edited by their record company this version

  • Yeah you are so right

What else rhym's with I'M rucking but

    I'm Fu u cking

    NOTHING

    :-))))))

  • Dont you just hate censorship?

  • Hahahahahaha, one of the best videoclips ever. All the musicians take the role of actors in this one, pure magic. This song evokes to me a psychotic dance with a drunken human leech. PRRRESSMEN FLASH!!!

  • Fish is great.....

  • Punting on the Cam is jolly fun, they say!

    :-)

  • social climbers, polished ladders

  • look the longer in child!!

  • check out the dogs' coupon when it gets a slap at 2:30. Fuckin love dugs.

  • Best Marillion vid by far!

    *S*

  • I agree. Fish era, sigh. Tune!

  • God how I miss this band, and that whole time period for that matter!Music will never be the same again!!

  • cool thanks for uploading

  • Briliant video, absolutely fucking fantastic. I miss you Marillion.

  • watch?v=DKKGzntUc0w You must see this!!!

  • One of the greatest videos ever made. Don't half bring back many memories.

  • He sounds Scottish, is he local?

  • He is Fish AKA Derek William Dick (real name) born in 1958, Dalkeith, Midlothian

  • cool video! definitely prefer the live version... that groove in the verse drags sooo much here... kind of a bummer.

  • Fantastic video! Classic Marillion song! Can anyone please explain to me what "Beagling" is?

  • another word for hunting...you know with the hunters on horses and beagles leading the way to the foxes or rabbits (prey)

  • Great vid. Happy memories from a wonderful past. Saw they on the Jesters & Fugazi tours & at Reading Festival in '83. Awesome.

  • The Best off Marillion !!

    Makes,s my day. Thanks.

  • OK so Rothery is the vicar. Dick, Trewavas & Kelly are 3 of the 4 schoolboys. Who's the other guy? A session drummer between Pointer & Mosley I presume but which one? Actually first time I've seen it. Too edited for my liking, but like the posh piss taking!!

  • i think its andy ward (camel drummer) but i might be wrong, i just read he was in this video

  • Cheers bud! You're right - it is Andy Ward. Apologies for my laziness.

  • Andy Ward is great!

  • andy ward...brief marillion drummer ex camel etc.

  • Ahhhh, this takes me back...

Saw them at the City Hall Newcastle on the Fugazi tour. Brilliant stuff!

  • One of the best songs ever.

  • Anthem

So much more depth than those "songs" such as kayleigh & lavender that most remember the guys by

    Assasin...Fugazi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fish is a really cunny funt in his own right.. On quiz shows he excells.

  • great videos and what memories.... this band helps me to get back to my years when all was more calm and relaxed....thnx for posting this

  • Great memories!

  • to jest zajebiste

  • blimey, this brings it all back...
