As a Michigan fan I can tell you we here in Michigan believed Mallet was going to be the next great quarterback for our school. At Arkansas he never quite took that next step, though he did have a solid career down there ). I really do believe had the situation been different at Michigan (Carr stayed or Rich Rod isn't hired & someone from the Michigan family is brought in) Mallet would of had a better college career at Michigan than he did at Arkansas. Michigan developes QBs. Go Blue.

For all his lack of athleticism Mallet's main challenge at the pro level will be mental. He's going to have to understand and read every blitz package under the sun. This will take some time. He needs to be drafted by a team like Seattle where he can learn this for a couple of years. Then look out NFL.

I think his BIGGEST no-no is his "character concerns," aka, he loves the gonja. He seems a little immature too, but he can grow up. has the tools to be good, possibly very good. he needs to sit behind someone for a few years, unfortunately that probably wont happen.
After looking at these highlights, Ive come to the conclusion that if Mallet gets drafted to a team with a good QB coach, he could be the best QB from this draft. Mallet may not be fast, but he has some mobility to him. As long as he can side step pressure he should be okay. I like his touch on deep throws, reminds me T.Brady. I like how he throws on the run, and his height gives him good field vision. Hes deadly on P.A fakes and has some serious zip on his throws.
@12cappa This is a highlight-compilation. Put on the game tape and you see a lot of inconsistency, bad mechanics, struggles with accuracy and no pocket-presence whatsoever. He has a big arm and a nice frame but far too many questions, wchich is why he's free falling down draft boards. A good combine could help him greatly.

Since I posted this comment, Mallet has answered some of his accuracy-issues with relatively good workouts and has gained some momentum going into the draft. There are still some issues regarding his mobility in the pocket and his footwork, but both things can be coached. However, the biggest issue is still character-related. If he can mature in the NFL, he definately has the talent to be a good QB. But I still don't like him.

he has a great touch on his passes.......very accurate but hes a little stationery....and could have a faster release on the ball but i like this kid better than gabbert, locker and newton.....why? cuz hes more accurate which means completions in the NFL....
plus he didnt get a consistent runnin game till late 2010 when kniles davis broke out the last 6 games. he played in the toughest conference(Lmao), and proved he doesnt need a runnin game to do well. he has a great touch on his passes.......very accurate but hes a little stationery....and could have a faster release on the ball but i like this kid better than gabbert, locker and newton.....why? cuz hes more accurate which means completions in the NFL....

plus he didnt get a consistent runnin game till late 2010 when kniles davis broke out the last 6 games. he played in the toughest conference(Lmao), and proved he doesnt need a runnin game to do well. Bradford havin steven jackson helped big time. I like mallet. yall can have newton but i want mallet to run my franchise. i still hate the fact luck stayed in school. he woulda bein an instant impact..

I want to know how Kellen Moore is higher than Mallett in the candidacy. Mallett has more touchdowns, more yards, AND plays in the nations toughest conference. After all the teams Boise has played this year, Moore should have 5,000 passing yards. I do not understand.

But i would like to say, Auburn is a great team, good luck against South Carolina this weekend.
