  • I think that he was kind of underrated. I haven't heard about him that much. Great player!

  • steve vai+ george lynch=steve lynch

  • this is the brother of george lynch or what?

  • Ricardo Inácio from Brazil.. hard rock yeah. ..steve lynch guitarist wronged, in my opinion is better than van halen. Joe satriani, steve vai and steve lynch is fucking hell. love

  • some said... lol Steve did fucking earlier tapping than god damn EVH, plus not EVH invented tapping.... someone shows him.... and EVH while tour together with autograph, eddie denied steve to tapp....

  • Some said that steve lynch was the one who started this 'Eruption'al solo stuff, even earlier than EVH...

  • It annoys me that EVH is a household name for tapping,But his technique is primitive single digit triads that my 13 year old student can play within 10 mins! And steves tapping is on another planet, and hardly anyone knows of him in the UK!

  • This is Hammerhead from That's Sthe StufF!! Awesome!!!!!

  • Thats why he went to MIT In L.A... He fucking great even back in school.

  • This makes me forget Van halen

  • HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE!!! :D

  • this guy must b related to george

  • i began to orgasm at 0:52

  • wtf

  • Thats my dads cousin

  • @TREYDAWS Hes also my guitar teacher XD

  • Too much EVH Rip off Dude!

  • @dkinsac Dude, this guy was playing before he even heard of eddie van halen..He was using tapping before eddie ever was...when autograph opened up for van halen, they wouldn't let steve tap because it would make van halen look less impressive...lynch is and forever will be "The Two Handed Guitarist."

  • @dkinsac By the time the first VanHalen album was released he already wrote a book on guitar tapping, i know cause he told me in person.

  • bet a quarter ths guy had influence by eddie van halen...

  • I can't believe that's really Steve Lynch replying on his website. Atleast not all the time. The person i was talking to seemed kinda like a teenage girl. "Steve" also got annoyed at my making fun of Justin Bieber; I can't believe someone like him would defend Bieber. So i suspect maybe its a relative, unless he's got family that are Justin Bieber fans.

If he's just a sell-out like Ozzy, oh well... I'll always enjoy their music but no old school rocker's gonna convert me to Justin Bieber.

  • @Supertron5000 No its really him hes my guitar teacher in Seattle. Hes an amazing guy. Has anyone heard the Eddie Van Halen storie?

  • @slicknik13 Is it possible he's got some other person who fills in for him if he can't answer? If that was him that last time; Honestly, if it was him, maybe he was defending Bieber because Ozzy Osbourne sold out to be in that retarded ad; But Bieber will never be cool no matter how many of yesterday's artists endorse him. It just makes it all the more sad. And yes, he told me about how Eddie Van Halen didn't want him doing his two-handed solos during the 84 tour. So it's him sometimes atleast.

  • @Supertron5000 Well i know for a fact he really awnsers his facebook and email so...

  • that note at .42, was that a mistake?

  • ... Pretty Awesome!

  • He was clearly playing to a track. Sounds too studio processed/clean.

  • that.was.sick

  • And how many 80s guitarists were named Lynch? :)

  • OMG how can he play in ball crusher 80's jeans, lol but he is awesome on the guitar.

  • :O any tabs !!!? xD

  • it's in playback

  • postdata: brain drill needs a stereo to be right heared.

  • he's my guitar teacher:-)

and ive been playing guitar for many years and he never gets old!

  • @samlikesurface hey you live in federal way? he's my guitar teacher too lmao

  • Quite the incredible tone.

  • Sweeeeeet !!! :)

  • I once played a stove-pipe like that and all the folks at the mission threw pennies my way and they filled a jar. Zamfir rocks da house y'all. I gotz a mess of grouper to cook for you.

  • Robarh..... I think "Joeylodes" fuck you comment was in meaning of total surrender in awwww...lol

  • Steve is an amazing guitarist and he has an amazing guitar instructional site.

  • When I here this song I can picture the sun coming up in the morning and then it gets stormy outside and it's dark cloudy thunder and lightning by a castle. That's just what I visualize.

  • @LingonBerry95 Sweet visuals, my friend! Thanks!

  • fuck.... anyone have a shamwow?i accidentally flooded my room with jizz...

  • Tabs!?

  • Oh my God! This is one of the best tapping solos ever made.I must admit that hearing this solo is like having a orgasm 100 times in a row. I'm being serious. This solo also reminds me laser wars. Nothing will beat the 70s and 80s rock. Old School rules.

  • @Brainthrasher hey man you must consider to hear Michael Angelo Batio that had a quad guitar (4 guitars in one) and he plays in more posicions than kamasutra...

also you can watch brain drill that has nothing awesome in tapping but it's brutal, you know...two billion notes per second.

  • @METZPORT well, I posted this comment when I was a little stupid. Now I acknowedged, that tapping is actually nothing special. I even can play it. I should listen some flamenco or hybrid picking.

  • @Brainthrasher 90s had cool stuff too :D

  • ABSOLUTLY FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!!

  • Hes my guitar teacher XD

  • @MrHeavyMetalKid is it really true that when opening for Van Halen, Steve was told he could not use his tapping technique because it was 'Eddie's Technique'.

  • oh mfg! this dude rules!!!! TKs fos posting

  • this dude is a MONSTER!!! too bad autograph fell on it's face by 1986. he is?(was) also the head guitar teacher at M.I.T. sign in please was a killer album. what i wouldn't give to be back in 1983 for a day(sigh)!! the 80's was the LAST decade of the olympian athlete musician. you'll never see talent like this again!! the class of 1986 said so!!

  • @EXTIQUE What in the world are you talking about? Every metal band nowadays is playing odd time signatures, sweep arpeggios, 8 finger tapping. Not to mention every other genre has insane musicianship like flamenco, jazz fusion, bluegrass, classical, etc. What you meant was the 80's was the LAST decade of stone washed nut hugging jeans, makeup, and hairspray on every male band member, thin album production, cheesy music videos, and substance deprived lyrics.

  • @polishcomedy your reply is a dead giveaway to your age and mantallity. so go ahead and insult us "80's" people. at least my generation didn't crawl out of an abortion clinic dumpster like your's did!! so i directly tell you to go fuck yourself!!!

  • @polishcomedy subatance deprived lyrics?? Sorry it isnt senseless screaming and growling like todays music!!

  • Clairificatrions:

Andres Segovia (Classical) was the first to "hammeron". Steve was the first to use it electric.

Steve played in Wolfgang in LA circa 1970s'-80s. Wolfgang was going to get signed at the Whiskey. The execs walked in, heard the music & saw the crowd & said, "Sign em up." & walked away. The warm-up band for Wolfgang that night was Van Halen.

Good or bad gear, great gutarists sound good. Steve - stop by Line6 & say hello to Brett who lived in my backyard about 30 years ago.

  • Didn't Autograph spawn out of Wolfgang? How's Ray Dibacco?

Used to live across the street coming up on 30 years ago. Ray played over my pool.

Say hello to Ray & the gang & take care!

  • Crazy solo... Is that a Kahler bridge?

I read that when opening for Van Halen, Steve was told he could not use his tapping technique because it was 'Eddie's Technique'.

I think really it was because he took it to another level. All respect to Ed but that is just killer. Oh and lastly was there any relationship between him and George Lynch? or just a coincidence?

  • @mememememe1980s

I just walked in the door from a Jennifer Batten clinic about 2 hrs ago. Someone asked her when she started 2 handing. She said that she was a student at M.I. with Lynch and some Chapman stick player came in and sparked the flame. Lynch took it to guitar and in doing so was the first...

"He was doing it before EVH was." - Batten's words herself.

  • @mememememe1980s Yep that's a Kahler

  • my guitarist gets lessons from this guy. maybe this is why he taps so much hahaha

  • i love that tone what gear did he use?

  • Thanks again for letting me attach my video as a response. It is so humbling to watch Steve play here... wow

  • Steve making it look easy. souns like a fun solo to figure out.

  • @JarHeadJambo

    Agreed. GTA3's radio music blew.

  • This is AMAZING!!!!!!

  • Always has been one of my favorites, I wish someone would tab it.

  • @JarHeadJambo V-Rock is in part responsible for my love of hair metal now haha.

  • @ilikehairbands ehehe just like me!!!

  • how the hell is it so clean? I would expect to see a scrunchy near the headstock......does he mute with his tapping hand?

  • @chapkoark a compressor will help it sound clear

  • @GLAMJOKER true, he's definitely using one here, its just I've seen other players tap and/or do legato runs with both a compressor and a scrunchy, so I still give this guy props.

  • @chapkoark yeahh

  • @chapkoark I'm pretty sure the thing that looks like a scrunchy on his guitar is the behind the nut lock common on Kahler'd guitars.

In fact, I am certain that it is an Edwards finger-tite lock nut

  • Where are the videos of "Friday" and "That's the Stuff" solos??

    Please re-upload!!

  • Did someone else noticed that he isn't playing?? The sound was previously recorded

  • Yikes that tone! Lose that rack gear please. Well Im sure he has by now. Killer licks though.

  • The cool thing is, this was when multi-finger tapping was unheard of.

  • @danukenator123 You're an idiot. You probably weren't even around back then. Tons of people were doing multi finger tapping back then, including Eddie Van Halen, Stanley Jordan, Emmett Chapman, Jeff Watson, and lots of others. This is cool because of the musical statement he made, not because he came up with something new and different.

  • just say... this solo blows your mind, that takes you to another dimension

this guy is pretty good soloing other 80's guitarist overrated

  • This is even better than Eruption (Van Halen)

  • AWESOME

  • AWESOME

  • wow - i can actually hear what is being played!!!!

I am so use to the effects washing everything out and it turning into a mush....but the dude kept clarity in his playing!!!

    MAD PROPS!!!!

  • That was fucking moronic.

  • How many '80's guitarists were named Steve?

  • @metemi It's a lot. lol.

  • @metemi Probably as many as there were '80's teen idols named Corey!

  • @metemi steve vai

  • @metemi steve stevens - billy idol

  • @metemi Steve Morse -Dixie Dregs

  • @metemi Vai, Lynch, Vaughan, Morse, Clark, Howe, Lukather, Hackett, Rothery, Stevens...

  • @Iverdero Steve Brown of Trixter? fuck yeah

  • FUCK 8=====D ( ) :

  • awesome, tap tap away. The Turn Up the Radio solo has always been one of my favs.

  • Steve Lynch and George Lynch....2 of the Very Best Guitarists of the 80s!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome - Steve Lynch is under-appreciated. Please check out my video response playing Turn Up The Radio - obviously simple tapping compared to this LOL

  • @PDXguitarfreak Your video kicks ass. I watched a few hours ago

  • @GregHM81 Thanks Greg, I appreciate that!

  • puta q pariu

    apelão esse daii em

    :D

  • very cool, but... how does he breathe in those jeans???

  • @MADEINMAIDEN LOL

  • lol his thigh is shaking like super fast....lol

  • holy shit!! i have listened to autograph but i never knew there guitar player carried this much talent

  • Tappin' this way is just beautiful. It takes you to another dimension... nothin' to see with others, like Malmsteen's stuckness in minor scales. This is fantasy, like you are in a luna park.

  • I'd form a band with George Lynch and Steve Lynch in it.

  • that would be the best band ever

  • ooo y pensar que este cuate vino a coatza veracruz mexico!!!! en el 96 xD que buen pedo (:

  • he teaches at the federal way school of music

  • id do that after my music career failed

  • lol ya his hair looks like he's stuck back in time.

  • thats because this video from the late 1980's.

  • i see him every wednesday. he teaches at the music school i go to for bass lessons

  • @poop4256 What music school and were?

  • @BrocWorst the federal way school of music in washington

  • @poop4256 yup i used to get lessons there. really cool guy. still dresses the same in a way and can still rock the shit out of a guitar.

  • FANTASTIC!!!

  • awesome

  • Awesome, truly one of the best finger tappers from the 80s. I just learned the Turn Up The Radio solo, and it is so basic compared to this LOL. Please let me know what you think of my vid :)

  • @PDXguitarfreak I have just seen your video's. First of all well done you did a very good job with turn up the radio and bark at the moon and you made me laugh when I saw your posing video, very cool.

  • Thanks man! I apperciate the nice words! I wish I could play like Steve though :)

  • Is this George Lynch's brother?

  • @cinquade I was thinking the same thing i didn't know there was another guitarist from that era with last name of lynch.

  • No bro, this is Steve Lynch, but they kind of look like brothers ha,ha

  • @cinquade no. seems like i read an interview w/ steve years ago where he said he & george weren't related. both good guitarist though.

  • Lynch was so damn good. The sad thing is, you ask most people if they heard of him...and they haven't.

    So underatted!!

  • I see some rockman gear in that rack and it does sound like it.

  • but this is still crazy

  • i love how after evh came out with tapping. everyone copied him

  • @Ajwmsaguitarman you also have to think though tapping is a techniqe

  • i love how people think eddie was the 1st to tap.

  • Yeah Check out a cat named Roy Smeck he did Tapping on a Uke back in the early 1940's..it's on you tube..

  • @Ajwmsaguitarman The thing is Steve came BEFORE even he eared about Edward

Van Halen with that technic, and that's also the reason he's more advanced than Van Halen because he had a more theorytical approach, he's one the first M.I.T student and graduates ever, and taught Jennifer Batten his style.

  • Ri-god-damn-diculous...

  • 0:44 - 0:50 = Amazing!

  • The 8 finger tapping technique is very difficult to master.

  • look at criss brodrick from nevermore/megadeth he own's at it him and jeff loomis are two great guitarist no dout.

  • KICK ASS!!!!! Steve Lynch is one of the greatest underrated guitarist ever.

  • just one question is he related to George Lynch

  • That would explain a lot :D

  • Dear "joeylodes"

If you feel the need to express how important your point is.....then make a video showing us all how to talk without shaking our knees and we'll see if people are keywording your name on youtube 25 years later. in other words, your stipid little comment was a boner loving faggot shit right there. stab yourself. And good day to you, sir

  • Great sound, innovative and original player

  • yeah because him shaking his knee is TOTALLY messing up this video! C'mon man next time leave the idiotic comments at home. This guy has great tapping technique so don't you dare start about things like a shaking knee. If only the great players with great presenting skills would show their skills to learning guitarists, where would we be today?

  • yup your right

    killer technique

  • @joeylodes fuck you

  • jejejeje I just noticed that

  • Lots of guitartists move their legs when playing. Especially during a solo.. Try it some time..

  • what song is this from???

  • he was on pachuca hidalgo mexico! early 90's! awesome!

  • Its just badly synchronized.

  • i knew george was amazing and i didnt want to belive he did an overdub, so i was just checking with the rest of youtube nation

  • sorry "steve"

  • nah like insaneclownbitch(love the name)

    said its badly synched

    steve lynch is so underrated

  • thanks, i knew he was good, i just never followed his work with autograph

  • yep he teaches at the federal way school of music. its freakin awesome
