  • either way, Ólavur was a traitor to the old faith. Murdering thousands of pagan worshipers because they hung on to their faith. A coward as well at the Battle of Swold, he drowned himself when he saw the battle lost instead of fighting bravely to the end.

  • Ólavur is sapost to be Ólafur

  • this is Faroese, (or færeyskt to you).

it is soposed to be Ólavur.

  • Their music is very Melodic.

  • the song is in real like 2 hours

  • One day Norway will arise once again and reunite with the norwegians/those of norwegian that live on the faroese Islands, orkneys, the hebrids, Isle of Man, Iceland, Greenland, Jämtland and Herjedalen.

  • As much as it would be interesting - the Manx don't like people who aren't from the isle of man, even neo-vikings from the North.

Also don't forget that the north of england has alot of viking descendants, like my family :D

  • Sverige står vid eder sida bröder! Vikingarna skall åter härja o sätta skräck i världen! Norden står i brand.

  • South Africa?

  • Ok. At first there were irish monks that inhabited the island, but then norwegian people settled down there after Harald fiarhair qonquered Norway. The enemies of the king were forced to leave after the battle of Hafrsfjord so someone went to Iceland and someone settled down in Bohuslen in Sweden which was norwegian in the time. So you're telling the people on Iceland aren't norse? please give me proof.

  • @Lauv people of iceland are about half norse and half celtic!

  • History and Geographical fact would disagree with you, BirgirZ

  • The people of Iceland are norse. THey are just not fully norse but a norse, celtic hybrid. Maybe with sligtly more of norse blood.

  • here on youtube there are some files with lessons of Faorense language :)

  • i wanna learn the faeroese language.

can i learn it online at all?

or am i gonna have to take in in a class for school..

  • I have just started German, try Wiki, they have classes for most languages.

  • @Nezzila2

I doubt there are classes for learning the Faroese language. The best solution would be to live in the Faroe Islands for some time.

  • Færeyingar eru snillingar í tónlist, bæði Týr og Eyvör.

    Mitt uppáhald

  • One of the best faroeish songs :D

    I am faroeish myself :D

I'm happy to see that people from other countries are liking it :)

  • LUCK YOU, Faroese friend!

  • why did the vocalist cut his hair short... he looked good with long hair!

  • damned straight he looked awesome now he just looks gay

  • This is an older video and it's a different vocalist. Heri Joensen is playing lead guitar but not singing in this one. And his hair is long in this video, is still long and always has been long :)

  • It is one of my favorites. We bow to the Vikings... the 're still alive. Thanks.

  • I think Pól Arni Holm (first Vocalist) once had long Hair too. (and he looked better then ;-))

  • Sounds great. Perhaps someone will give a English translation?

  • "Ormurin Langi" is a very popular Faroese folk ballad (kvæð). Ormurin Langi means Long Serpent, which in this song refers to Olaf Tryggvason's ship with the same name.

    Tyr only presents part of this song, as it is 86 verses in length originally. The Faroese lyrics sung by Tyr can be found here with a rough translation into English: w w w . h o m e . i x . n e t c o m . c o m / ~ k y a m a z a k / m y t h / f a r o e s e / o r m u r i n _ l a n g i - f e . h t m

    (remove the spaces)
