  • and then infect happend

  • Question, if an indestructible creature of 5/5 blocks, well say Sickle Ripper, obviously Sickle Ripper dies, but does the indestructible still accumulate those counters, being a 3/3 indestructible? I don't see why it wouldn't accumulate those counters unless something said otherwise, but let's say nothing did, he would be a 3/3 then correct?

  • Step aside, Wither! Infect is the way to go!

  • @SmashBro415 Yeah infect is wither but amplified even further, kind of like upgrading new software that outdates old software. Because now if you hit an opponent directly you're giving them poison counters, and even worse if you have something that allows proliferate, well you're well on your way to putting your opponent in an early grave. New Phyrexia cards with infect, proliferate, and Phyrexian mana cost conversions are just sheer annhilation.... I love it, lol.

  • ... And then came Infect. I wonder if Phyrexians scouted Shadowmoor?.

  • dont u tap those enchantments ever again!

  • Very helpful.

  • The music reminds me of Harry Potter ! LoL !

PLEASE SAVE THE MAGIC IN BRAZIL !!!!!!!

  • Nice music.

    very Fable-esque XD

  • What happens when a creature reaches 0/0 as a result of -1/-1 coun ters? Is the creature who 0/0 destroyed or does it remain in play as 0/0? If so, what happens if the creature than becomes a -1/-1 creature?

  • a 0/0 creature is destroyed, however if power can go below zero e.g. you can have a -1/1 and be fine. side note if you deal damage with a -X/X creature it will just do 0 damage.

  • k thanks

  • when it has X/0 it dies no matter what happends to it even if it was indestructible. it would die.

  • no it wouldn't die if its indestructible.

  • Yes it does because wither's dmg is in -1/-1 counters it would become a X/0 and would die. Indestructible only negates lethal damage and destroy effects. because they are counters and do not go away it dies.

  • 0/0 means it has 0 life (toughness), that means its dead :P

  • i know but he was delt damage from a counter no lethal damage

  • dose proteacion get past wither since it dose have to do damage, or do it get around it because its in the form of -1-1

  • Pro gets past wither. When you have pro you can't be damaged by a creature of that color. N

  • yup, what this guy said :)

    (just confirming)

  • So when i defend with a 1/1 creature to a 2/2 creature my creature ofcourse, dies but the counters stay on the attacking creature?

Me and a friend were arguing about it xD (my creature was the defending one)

  • Comment removed

  • Yes the 1/1 with wither would deal damage to the 2/2 and then leave a -1 -1 counter as a going away present. The 2/2 would now be a 1/1.

  • what if your attacking creature has wither and the defending creature has shroud???

    what will happened???

  • it gets the -1-1 counter. shroud means that it cant be the target of spells or abilities l2p n00b

  • haha!

    thanks for the help!

yeah i'm a newbie...is there something wrong with it??

  • no no i used to b 1 2 :D

  • ah ok!

    i thought your insulting newbies..

each one of us became newbie...haha!

  • No.

  • I have a question, if you have a creature with wither and first strike, like if you equip a Red-Black creature with Fist Of The Demigod, does it mean that they do their damage before like normal first strike. Like what I'm asking is" say you had a 3/3 with first strike and wither and your opponent blocked with a 4/4 creature. Would the 3 be taken out of its power PRIOR to damaging your creature? And yes, I'm a noob...

  • yep. you got it!

  • If you have a creature with first strike and wither, if it combats with a creature that doesn't have first strike, it will do damage first, but in -1/-1 counter. If a 3/3 creature with wither and first strike gets blocked by a 4/4 creature, the 3/3 will make do it's damage first and make the 4/4 into a 1/1. Then the 1/1 will do it's damage to the 3/3, which won't be enough to kill it.

  • how about attacking ram-gang blocked by troll ascetic both dies? wither is an ability of ram-gang and troll says cant be by abilities... i think for me both dies, wither just does combat damage to creatures in a form of -1-1 not targeting the creatures....

  • AAH! Now it makes sense! :D Thanks!

  • how does Blowfly Infestation work? Can you move ALL the -1/-1 counters to target creatures? or just one? can this back-fire to your creatures?

  • si, puto

  • I just picked up my army of entropy and played against my friend,(6 years exp, me no exp xD) and dominated his his fully optimized giants deck several times. Wither is very effective in conjunction with blowfly. But when he pulled out his aggro goblies i got pwned many times :P. I geuss i just need to grab some more persist creatures

  • My health: 20, your health: 18.

    Pwned noob! lol... 2:34

    Good video.

  • We are such geeks....ah well!

    I love Magic:The Gathering!

  • I got the red/black theme deck that emphasizes on Wither, and I love it. Great mechanic!

  • that deck can back fire if not used properly

  • Of course, almost all decks can. Still, it's great fun with a few modifications.

  • did you mod the deck with wither?

  • It started off with a lot of wither creatures, threw in quite a few kill spells and some Fate Transfer's to get the wear and tear off my Wicker Warcrawlers. Also put in some more Cinderbones for blocking purposes, and a Demigod of Revenge (I'd put in four if I had them).

  • four huh?... thats an awsome knockout :)

  • I think four demigods plus some Dilirium Skeins would be awesome, as long as you had a way to get all of them in your hand. Discard three demigods with skeins and put the fourth in play, suddenly you've got four 5/4 flying, hastes in play, which could give you a fast 20 damage.

  • "casting of bones" might help you out

  • so it comes out may 2-4 in 2008 right?

  • yes.....feel the power with mass kamikaze goblins with wither;D

also note if you make R/B deck ...you can make a wither/first strike deckO.o

  • i liked the part of the "enchant" lol nice wither applies to the "shoot" technique. Ah it makes me want to make my Elem more R/B XD

  • question.. if i deal dmg with sickle ripper

to drove of elves is the dmg prevented?

or it does a normal dmg with out his ability?

  • If it's combat damage then no it's not prevented because combat damage doesn't target.

  • Oh, and the Drove of Elves will still get the -1/-1 counters. Since the Ripper's ability doesn't target the Drove, the Drove's ability doesn't do anything.

  • are the number of counters it gets effected by doubling season?

  • Doubling Season affects counters put on YOUR permanents. So, if your opponent has a Doubling Season, your wither guys cause more counters.

Just think of it as SwODS.

  • thanks

  • very helpful. Wizard should do more of these.

  • Looks like a cool ability!

  • Should be fun and abusive lol

  • it is said in the video, that the -1/-1 counters stay on the creature. they don't wear off at EOT. but it is treated like damage in case you want to prevent it. the video explains everything you had to know about wither very good.

i like this ability. i'm glad it is damage and not only combat damage

  • But wait!

If the damage is dealt like -1/-1 counters, while it is still treated as normal damage, what happens at the end of the turn? Does the Hill Giant keep those counters, or do you just remove them like normal damage?

  • i made up this ability around the time homelands came out.

got the idea from jyhad, the vampire the masquerade card game

  • interesting mechanic

  • Nice mechanic!

  • Love me some perma-damage

    Go Wither!

  • i think "wither" is going to be really anoying

  • what happens if s ripper and squar battle?

dos s rippsr live or die ?

  • the answer is that wont ever happen.

    no one plays squire. duh!

it was obsolete the day it was printed

  • One of the most flavourful mechanics to come out in a while. Nicely done.

  • first view

    nice video
