Yes, she wants to sign autographs because she wants to be well liked. She really doesn't want to sign them though...who would? She probably pays the bodyguard to be the person who tells her what to do to make it seem like she really wants to stay and be nice to the fans, but can't. It's all about her image.

I have met Pascal, he was so nice to me. Fergie even hugged me and he did not stop it. I understand it's his job to protect her, and he has been her bodyguard for years now, she trusts him, she can't just fire him.

Bodyguards have a job to do. They arent their to be nice to the fans, or hold bags for the customer. Once they're hired they know what they need to do to keep them safe. Even the secret service tells the president certain instructions to keep him safe.

Bodyguards are trained like the military in self defence are trained like the secret service and carry guns. They have a job to do and are paid well for it. We dont see what they do. Maybe somebody who follows her as a fan is there. Maybe the paps get to close or she is late to get somewhere. If the star does not take their advice they are fools but you cant make them listen.
