How is it that a video of a gopher trurning around to dramitic music has something like 100,000,000 views, and this only has 12,000, thats just not right!
Hey i'm really just dying to know how you get your graphite drawings on canvas, do you transfer them or do you draw them on directly and if you do do you just make the canvas really smooth with gesso?
hi michael, I love this so much, i was wondering how do you rub the colors back on the acyrilic stage on the face, without smudging the colour across the rest of it and keeping the lines of color still sharp and visable, though oviusly subtle? thanks =)
Your technique is so cool. Your style is so unique. Love the detail. Cant wait to see more work. Also love the way your videos are produced. Like the edits and such.
For the love of all that is good in the world, PLEASE make a tutorial video. I know it would suck if people ripped off your style but I want to learn your technique so badly!
nice illustration...doubtful if the word painting could be used...yes it may be a rather limited definition....but I do stand by it....However...that is just my humble opinion....and again However...very effective and excellent result. The result is an excellent piece of art of a first rate quality...Let it not be a play of semantics and...thanks for sharing...(Mind you for six years of University I could not have defended your work as a painting...as per previous comment. It is a tough world
Came to the web tonight while looking at my white canvases across the room in search of motivation and inspiration...and was pleasantly surprised to find you had a new video up!! Thank you!!!!
You are absolutely incredible. This is beautiful. I'm not an artist, but I was in awe, literally my mouth hanging open, a good majority of this video. Just amazing.
glad 2 c u still alive :) welldone as always. small question at what time u used oil and with what u mix ur oils? also what maintanance u did on canvas to not absorb to much colours and to remove those gesso stroke?
What kind of fixative specifically? I'd really like to try this style out lol. Is it possible to get the same effects with acrylic alone? Also is it a wet cloth you use to blend or a dry one?
this reminds me of watching my grandchildren run and play in the woods around the pond! I wish I could capture them on canvas like this. One of the girls is usually hiding from the boys, just like this canvas appears. lol I love it!
Your paintings reach right in and grab the deepest parts of my psyche, the human eye of the bird is a pleasing curiosity. Thank you for your videos, they are wonderful!
I am very happy to see new work from you, it is very impressive. I can see that time only allows your work to grow and evolve. The painting is intense and gripping, you are a master of that stare that is a common tie in many of the images.
Happy Happy, Joy Joy! A new video. The painting turned out so incredibly wonderful. I love your usage of color. These videos are so very helpful, especially as I'm just breaking into canvas painting. Inspiring! And I really need a "No Lazy" sign by my work space too. Heh. Thanks for sharing!
I'm sure you've answered this a million and two times but relatively how long does it take you (from main idea to the end product) to finish a painting?
How do you paint over the graphite without losing any of the detail? I know you said you used a fixative, but I always thought oil was pretty opaque. I have very little painting experience, I would love if you made some sort of tutorial video or even just a video showing the process from sketch to final product! :)
@failuresuccessful You thin paints and they become transparent, but also less pigmented. Also, different paints have different opacities, usually it says on the back of the bottle/tube
@failuresuccessful My guess just from what i can see is that he thins out the oil with solvent (turpentine etc or maybe just plain water) and then wipes it off which would leave a much thinner layer of paint, then he keeps on adding slowly covering the graphite with paint. that's just my guess anyway.
Id also love a tutorial as i really love his whole process.

When painting the oil on the canvas and wiping it away, do you use turp or linseed oil?

@failuresuccessful i believe he uses oil but thinned out with linseed oil so its really watery and the graphite fixed will shows through
