  • They stole it from Michael Jackson!

  • They both stole this premise from White Chicks, which stole it from Soul Man, which stole it from that Eddie Murphy sketch from SNL, which stole it from the movie Watermelon Man, which stole it from the book Black Like Me, etc....

  • Eddie Murphy did it first.

    youtube.com/watch?v=vGm5U11JTr8

  • Love both these shows. But Sarah wins on this one

  • I LOVE SARAH!!! Im black ...aaaannnd?? Wish i could make love to her while she's bein' racist as hell! lol! hi haterz!! :c P

  • Are you all stupid or just 12? So if sarah makes a black face joke no one else is allowed to either? Grow the fuck up + I love both shows so suck a big black one

  • I think its harder being White, in a country that seems to be anti-White !

  • Love them both because they are 'black like me'

  • There's a reason Tina Fey won so many Emmys, Golden Globes and SAG awards. It's because she's fucking brilliant. Oh I forgot.. she also won the Mark Twain Prize for American humor. Don't forget she was the HEAD WRITER at SNL. Comedians are influenced and inspired by other comedians all the time. She's an incredible improvisor so she can come up with a great one liner on the spot. Sarah Silverman is hilarious but if you think she's funnier than Tina Fey, you're just dumb. 30 Rock is amazing.

  • @jords94 so if someone has a different opinion than you their dumb? in my opinion sarah is by far the funnier one, but i know some people like tina. oh no what to do what to do, i know. With all my opinion wisdom, your a RETARD! :D

  • i love both shows and both comedians, the worked together on SNL people; hence forth having the same type of humor. The Sarah Silverman Program was Low budget, while 30 Rock was getting Award cered from Alec Baldwin at that time. these are my all time favorite shows, its hard to see them head to head.

PS- i love Sarah and Tina <3

  • plus on on the tina fake stealing joke thread. reunion episode of 30 rock was taken from married with children even tho i hate that show

  • yeah... tina fey is one of the funniest people on tv , like ever! people have already forgotten about sarah silverman. her show didnt last and tina fey would never need to steal from sarah. they are both funny, but please. tina will be a comic legend. sarah , funny for a minute .

  • @69beeter

"yeah... tina fey is one of the funniest people on tv , like ever! people have already forgotten about sarah silverman. her show didnt last and tina fey would never need to steal from sarah. they are both funny, but please. tina will be a comic legend. sarah , funny for a minute."

It is amazing how people like you can be so ass backwards. Tina Fey will be remembered for totally different reasons than sarah silverman. Sarah will be up there with paul mooney, and you wont get it.

  • weeds ripped off nip/tuck a few times lol

  • Very common concept. I highly doubt Tina Fey would need to mimic Sarah Silverman to be funny.

  • @8nikolas8 Name an original joke by Fey. She constantly steals people's bits. Thanks for putting up this video. 30 Rock is very lame, and The Sarah Silverman Program definitely has its moments.

  • @stormwood78 Lol, you obviously have no clue. How does she constantly steal people's bits? Um, I'm not going to just go through 30 Rock and name a list of original jokes, it makes more sense for you to show how she has "stolen people's bits". Mean Girls was very original too, and one of few good chick flicks.

  • @stormwood78 I would love to watch Tina Fey in her writing room with every comedy sitcom on a different screen, analysing which jokes she should steal for the next instalment of 30 Rock! Silly person.

  • @8nikolas8 NBC told her to do 30 rock; her idea was originally a murphy brown rip off. if you watch that show you can spot the stolen jokes. standard and similar bits and no real punchlines aside from tracy morgan doing his snl shtick and baldwin borrowing his cantene boy sketch. tssp can be annoying, but at least her jokes are her own brand of humor. if you see her live she has the same act as her show.

  • @stormwood78 I love how everything is a "rip-off" or something similar, just because they are similar ideas. And she reformulated the idea, not NBC. So what if her live is the same as her show? Same with Larry David and Louis C.K. (among others)... the former being responsible for two of the greatest modern-day comedies. Anyway, you said "name an original joke by Fey", which is just ridiculous, because there are plenty.

  • @8nikolas8 "It's like I have ESPN" -- Mean Girls. Stolen joke. Nearly ALL of Tina Fake's jokes are stolen.

  • Also, "Mean Girls" was done before. Ever heard of "Heathers" Also, "Mathletes" has been 100 times. The last one was on "Freaks and Geaks" Need more evidence. I got plenty more.

  • People have been doing this way before either one of them .

  • idiots, Eddie Murphy did this like 30 years ago.

  • This is a very common theme, however, both of these episodes seem to be too similar in comparison.

  • please that is in no way a rip off... just vaguely similar

  • it's not a rip-off. it's a variation on a fucking theme.

  • They're both parodying Freaky Friday. It's pretty well worn territory in sitcoms, and neither 30 Rock nor Sarah Silverman were the first to do it (nor would they claim to be).

  • ummmm....sarah silverman wasn't the first person to do this!!!!

  • In this business, stealing things is the highest form of flattery

  • Sarah was dissed by SNL, then dissed by a sitcom that parodies SNL. It's a conspiracy!

  • i look like the beautiful queen latifah

  • awwwww wth!!!!! :(((

  • The funniest part is what the black waiter is wearing as a "jew".

  • Two words, Lenny Henry.

  • its a pretty standard story, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was allowed, besides, 30 rock is better written, I do love sarah silverman, but 30 rock is superior

  • umm... Eddie Murphy White Like Me?

  • I wouldn't say this is a rip-off. It's more a media plot cliche. I'm know many other movies and tv shows have done this before.

  • ... just like a million movies... pre-dating these by decades...

  • /watch?v=vGm5U11JTr8

  • Team Sarah!

  • nobody ripped anyone off! This idea of switching races is nothing new! I thought the Sarah Silverman episode was the funnier of the two, but that makes no difference!

  • This storyline is as old as cave paintings. No one ripped off anybody.

  • ... wait ... the Sarah Silverman show invented the switching races to see which is harder trope?

    (*cough .... bullshit ... *cough ... you're an idiot ... *cough)

  • "i <3 money"

  • It's just not that unique or new of an idea. How about Al Jolson? He had this idea in the 20's. So was Sarah Silverman stealing his ideas? No, I don't think so. Sarah has her take on the idea, 30 Rock had their take and no one really "stole" from the other. I love them both by the way. Silverman is hilarious! But so is Tina.

  • i like both shows. tinay fey is amazing.

but i am definitely rather sarah silverman show. always.

  • 30 rock is sooverrated! Go Sarah! The Office are always robbed by 30 rock!!

  • 30 Rock really is insanely overrated! Not AT ALL as funny as the dumbass emmy critics make it out to be.

  • :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • They're both funny. I actually thought that they were both original. They both had their own focus.

  • sarah silverman is a godess. everyone else is FAIL.

  • You people are all dumbasses. Besides this being a very old theme in cinema, the marx brothers put axle grease on their faces to blend in, gene wilder went blackface in silver streak. relax every one, no one ripped any one off. And if you paid attention, the episodes are pretty different, sarah went blackface with the clown style, and in 30 rock it was all out. It's like calling out Oliver Stone for copying Francis Ford Coppola by making a movie about the vietnam war. just enjoy the humor!

  • The most regretable thing is the award, not so much the fact that they ripped off, cause in the ende that's something that all shows do these days.

  • It's not a rip off, it's a cliche.

People get those confused way too often.

  • The Sarah Silverman Program premiers tomorrow!

  • @jpatton1989 wicked funnyyy. baby penises lmao

  • I want that shirt!!! i've already the nose so....

    you go SARAH

  • hahaha the nose

  • that episode won a golden globe? wtf?

  • You do realize this exact story had been used in about a million different TV shows, way before Sarah Silverman ever did it. Hell, I remember an episode of Bewitched where Samantha and Tabitha become Black for some reason.

  • @catokeeffe

that was a good episode :)

  • Can't we all get along?

    They're both funny sitcoms.

  • Sarah did it first. Sarah did it BETTER!

  • "I look like the beautiful queen latifah!" lol

sorry people but... sarah silverman program > 30 rock

  • 30 rock is shit

  • I wouldn't say that. But Sarah Silverman Program is better.

  • 30 Rock's was better! LOL

  • People use the same storyline and try to make it their own. It doesn't mean they're ripping each other off. If we made a big deal about every show that's been "ripped off" we wouldn't have more than half of the TV and movies we do. It's called postmodernism

  • I like both shows; but I think the Sarah Silverman program is funnier. It sucks how there hasn't been a new season. I really liked that show.

  • They both ripped off Eddie Murphy's snl skit white like me, so fuck both of those shows. None of them are funny especially the Sarah Silverman program.

  • i'm sure sara rippe off'd someone else. let's face it just about EVERYTHINGS BEEN DONE

  • I love both of them....but yeah I hated this episode of 30 rock because it was all sarah...and sarah did it better

  • Sarah silverman program is so much funnier (and way more creative, believe it or not) than 30 rock. 30 Rock is just gay...

  • So you're complaining because a show did a storyline that your favorite show did one year earlier AND did it better?

Not to mention that it's not exactly cutting-edge comedy that hasn't been trail blazed way before either show was ever thought of.

    Riiiiigggghhhhtttttttttttt.....

  • 30 Rock is on network television. SSP is on cable. There's no wonder why one gets more acclaim.

  • You TOTALLY missed the point of the Sarah Silverman Program version.

  • 30 rock episode aired after sarah silverman's

  • arent these both just like Eddie Murphy's White Like Me from his SNL days?

  • I like both shows, The Sarah Silverman program IS really good though, no denying it.

  • I LOVE the Sarah Silverman Program, way better than anything!

  • fuck 30 rock, the sarah silverman program is funny as hell

  • It hasn't gotten picked up for another season!? I love that show :((

  • which show isnt comming back?

  • Don't worry. It officially has.

  • This has been done too many times for even a shameless champagne socialist hollywood crybaby like yourself to count, so blow your nose into your designer panties and suck it up .

  • Yeah you're right, pretty sure Richard Pryor did and others have done this :O

  • Coincidence.

  • Lol, that is ridiculus, it's a concept that has been tried on countless sitcoms... No joke is original anymore anyway....

    BTW both shows suck...

  • hahaha GHEEYYY LAMEOOO GAYGAYGAYGAYGAY

  • Even though I am a huge fan of both Sara and 30 Rock, you are whack for thinking that either one is being original with this premise. Just ask Eddie Murphy, Robert Downey Jr, or Ted Dansen

  • no, the difference is that 30 rock is about NBC

  • The difference is that "30 Rock" is funny.
