Frank Zappa is one of my personal heroes. He was an individual. Once I was an individual, too. But now I'm popular. No one told me it would cost so much. Now I will die without ever having one original thought.
Frank Zappa had his own peculiar style of music. Heard it said that the former pop/rock group-The Turtles joined him for this album. I don't know if it was true or hearsay.
@RonSafreed The Turtles (only Flo and Eddie) were in the band from 1970-1971. They performed this live and it can be heard on Playground Psychotics. Flo and Eddie were also on Live at the Fillmore, Another Band From L.A., 200 Motels, and Chunga's Revenge (the only in-studio appearance.)
@sourjaws you remember how on the sgt pepper album cover the beatles had wax models of themselves on the left? Well this was taking the piss so they are using plastic models with pictures of their faces on them so yeah it's supposed to me a model of Frank and the dummy sitting on the chair is supposed to be the guy in the edwardian wheelchair etc
Pure genius. I listened to nothing else but this and "The Black Rider" by Tom Waits for a week once. Was one of the darkest, but best weeks of my life
@YourEyeWitness Frank Zappa re-recorded a few years later some drum parts and bass parts, and apparently sped up some songs like Let's Make The Water Turn Black and Concentration Moon and others... In my opinion both album versions are the work of a pure genius : Frank Zappa
This genius was the soul of a generation that didn't conform to authority and questioned everything. An underappreciated social commentator of the day.

the whispery section - apparently on the Canadian pressing, the rant includes some remarks about the Velvet Underground, but most pressings don't.

@Timmybear Mine has this.
"I worked with the velvet underground, which is just as shitty as Frank Zappa's group."
