  • THE BAND SHOULD'VE CHANGED THEIR NAME TO "MOUSSE" for their hairdos.

  • i used to own the Astra album 27 years ago. I remember looking thru the lyrics sleeve downstairs in the basement!!

  • O.k., boys, if you don't think she's hot your gay-o-meter is going off...

  • @jrock2264 she is scalding hot!

  • me recuerda a olga

  • All women should be required to wear that armor.

  • I feel weird for being a teen and loving this album and song... Also, portraying it on guitar like Meyer. My favorite happens to be Hard On Me.

  • @daidi0121 You should have been around when they did their first album...they were huge...this is when they started to fade....

  • Great song and video!

  • I fucking LOVE that armor.

  • I thought I read that Steve Howe is the actual guitarist on this song but he left Asia before the actual "Astra" album came out. This was the only song that got any attention on MTV & AOR radio.

  • @bucky468 Actually, I think Howe left before they did the studio work....

  • Who is the girl in the video?

  • One of my favorites for a long time! :)

  • I wonder if Kids Inc. ever covered this song??

  • Overall, I can take a survey in my high school and only a small percentage of people have even heard of Asia. This is sad, as Asia is one of the better, muscally and, yes, artwork-based, bands from the 80's. Astra is, perhaps, my favorite album, primarily for the pre-, during, and post-war song "After the War". This song is the second of the list for me from the album, but is the song I listen to the most. "Alibis" on Phoenix is pretty good, too, especially the end instrumental. Asia rocks.

  • singer looks like my dad, and they're around the same age too. :-P

  • she is hot

  • I miss these years.

  • My favorite part in this whole in this song is from 0:00 to 4:08. ^_^

  • 2:43 never forgot that part of the video LOL. One of my favorite Asia tunes, if not the one.

  • mandy looks so cool.

  • What is the proper term for having fantasies about a hot alien? Ha!

This song is one of my favorites by Asia. I still don't understand why it hasn't been used as a sports anthem. OK, maybe it has, just not by my favorite teams.

I was living in a small, Kansas town when this song was popular. I never saw the video then, as they didn't allow MTV on our cable service (it was a local, family-owned company). We had a country video channel, though. Talk about censoring the wrong type of music!

  • It's a shame Asia didn't use their artwork to weave together a story from album to album. From the self-titled one through Aura, they could have put together a really cool, engaging story. Oh well. Anyway, Astra was great. The darker shift in tone (both in artwork and music) was a good move. And then there's the song "Wishing", which is a gem. It's a beautiful song that exists wholly unto itself. If you can find it, give it a listen.

  • i love this album

  • ASIA...Never was....Never will be......a band that can compare. Damn...just...Damn!

  • Mandy Meyer brought a whole new element to Asia that was severely lacking before. Adding him to Asia was clearly the correct decision. He is a proficient guitarist and has considerable style. It would have been interesting to see how he would have changed the band (probably for the better) if Asia would have continued on from this point.

  • @Cynnovil Indeed. He's really a heavy guitarist.

  • @Cynnovil mandy meyer is very good, but hes not steve howe. steve brought technicality that was overshadowed by egos. 4 incredible musicians with even bigger egos. too bad. i loved asia since 1982

  • pure 80's!

  • Who plays guitar on the "Astra" album?

  • @bucky468 a swiss like me ! but i don't remember his name ...i think that he was in Krokus... i don't think he play bad on this song...it has a little Michael Schenker 80s touch...

but i can't pretend that it was better for Asia that Howe leave... i think that it was a bad decision...

I don't know really well their music... but i think that there was a real battle of ego in the band... often this is accelerated by the success...and apparently it's Howe who put first his foot on the mine

  • @BohemianConspiracy

The name of the guy is Mandy Meyers, and yes, he actually played in Krokus. He replaced Howe (well, at least tried to) when he quit Asia to form GTR with Steve Hackett

  • @eltioyayo i did not knew the existence of this band...i did not knew the existence of this band ! Howe and Hackett in the same band !!! glouppps... it's a real dream team! ... i'm not a giant fan of things from the 80s ...specially since the mid 80s but it could be interesting to check this band... if this pair was made a few years earlier it will be even be better i think...

  • what a killer track... the perfect gift for Radiohead fans ahaha ... it can potentially kick hard in their desperate dry ass...

  • kick ass...

  • the comment below - wtf??anyway, love the song

  • Turkish fathers wear bra and Thongs, they have ugly wives, their sons are gay and their daughters take it up the arse while listening to Asia hits such as 'heat of the moment.'

  • I like when she walks out of the V in the underground scene.

  • The whole video was cool, except for the rain scene... how did that even work? She went down into like a building, and then she all of a sudden wasn't wearing her armor and it was raining? What the? Blatant sex appeal? I think yes.

  • @nateisneato She's taking a shower. It's probably to decontaminate her before she meets anyone inside. Consider the fact that everyone outside is wearing some sort of breathing apparatus. Blatant sex appeal? I know yes.

  • Great Video Too Bad VEVO SUCKS!!!!

Just another example of how corporations can't leave a good thing alone. They are ruining Youtube just like they have destroyed the economies of the Western World. To see the real damage these faceless corruptions do watch "Capitalism - A Love Story" by Michael Moore

  • @Orion1488 Will Moore be handing out free copies of the film?

  • @Orion1488 stfu. capitalism rocks

  • I want to lick her pretty feet after she's done running in the rain!

  • @MrThunderbeast stfu

  • @screamit1 Suck my sloppy dick, cunt!

  • @MrThunderbeast That's nasty.

  • @DarthKain0 So's your ugly mother

  • @MrThunderbeast Wow, you're really gonna resort to "your mom" jokes? If it makes you feel better, ya touchy crybaby bastard, I wasn't insulting you. I was stating my opinion on your, uh... fetish. What has the world come to where I can't express my opinion without being insulted?

  • @DarthKain0 It's come to this...Go fuck yourself you geeky looking bastard. The best part of you obviously ran down your daddy's leg.

  • @MrThunderbeast How the hell do you know what I look like, you piece of shit? I'm not in any of my videos. And yeah, nice follow up with that immature insult, I'm sure the only insults you can come up with have to do with my parents and sex. Get the fuck over yourself.

  • @DarthKain0 That all may be true, but your sister still takes it up the ass unlubed. :)

  • @MrThunderbeast And that's another lie. AND another immature insult that's not even about me and has to do with sex. I'm starting to wonder if one of such low intellect such as yourself is even worth paying attention to.

  • @DarthKain0 I'm gonna say probably not. By the way, would you like to buy some pics of your dad wearing a pink bra and thong?

  • Homoic

  • Why the fuck is this in the Dream Theater mix?

  • Another jewel from my childhood. Remember watching this every chance I got. Still looks awesome after all these years. Makes me wish they did some sequels for this video.

  • Meyer looks cool!

  • I love this song IT KICKS BUTT! ALL YOU WHO THINK ITS BAD ARE RETARDS! ITS EPIC!

  • This music is still ahead of it's time, to this very day.

  • 3:08 Ashley Judd?

  • この曲のシングルがほしい!

  • すごくいい曲なのに,シングルがどこに行っても売ってない!

  • @TheBSes concordo plenamente

  • All I can say is weeeeeird.

  • i thought this was gonna be asia cruise

  • The best Asia-record with Wetton! The new stuff is also good, but I'm not too fond of Steve Howe in this concept...

  • 1985...Asia...Mandy Meyer (like him very much, sorry Steve, but you're the greatest)...wooow!!!

  • Sooo...after all the cool comments on here, and after having been a freshman in college when this song came out (around '84 or '85) you guys STILL CAN'T SAVE HER ASS...how sad +weeping+ she DESERVES to be saved...bwaaaaaa..she sacrificed her life for YOU.....*sobs*.....never forgot this video, because it's GREAT!!!! LOL ASIA rocks!!!!

  • great song

  • the guitarist was really interchangeable -- Asia's sound was keyboards first, then drums, then vocals...

  • great song..great album..2 yrs too late

  • I thought this song was about a Japanese board game. XD

  • @TuxedoRay the game of go doesn't come close to the complexity of this music.....rolf

  • @nolderine lol, agreed.

  • Its Aeon Flux! XD

  • its to bad mandy meyer didnt get to tour with asia on this record he kicked ass on this song and whole album ,,and it would of been cool if they did make more videos with this girl as aza

  • @quickdraw44805 A sequel for this video was planned but never made.

  • steve howe was foolish to leave asia..

  • Great f.... song! Got to get the album.

  • Here s a nice little factoid: The name of the character (Roger Dean created her for the cover) is Aza.

"In an MTV interview, Wetton confirmed that Aza's story would have been continued in future videos. The failure of the album, however, sealed her fate."

Source: Heat of the Moment (Asia biography by David Gallant) Page 49.

Too bad Geffen didn't support this. For my money this is the best Asia album.

  • @philosopher2king I didn't know that whole concept. It would have been very cool to see more of Aza. Why Astra was unsuccesfull is beyond me too. It's a great album. Perhaps it would have had much more attention if it was suported by a tour. Too bad. I wonder if Asia (since the reunion of the original four) ever played this track live.

  • @PurpleInTheDeep

They did! I caught the last show of the first leg of the Omega tour last month and they played it. I was pretty surprised since Steve was no longer a member when they recorded it.

    It was a great show.

  • @philosopher2king Glad to hear it. At least they keep this song alive. Thank you.

  • @PurpleInTheDeep

They played this song just last week at a GREAT live gig in Edinburgh

  • It would have been a cool scene if @3:52 when the hot chic got hit with the laser beam she would have been disintegrated and turned into a pile of ashes.

  • @360whiplash

I just read this last night but Asia originally had planned to use the character in more videos, so she didn't really die. Astra didn't do well (inexplicably because it is a kick ass album) so there no more videos.

  • Saw them tonight. Every song rocked.

  • The original Asia is on tour right now.I am going to see them Tuesday

  • would love to see these guys back on tour..its been to damn long since 88 when I saw em! ah the memories...

  • I love the chorus and bassline to this song.

  • First legue!

  • it is Mandy Meyer, later to be replaced by Pat Thrall. Keith Emerson has popped up to play keys for them as well.

  • I like Asia, but man they really hold Carl Palmer back. No cool drum fills, no showy drumming. The guy is a beast on drums, but in this band.... nothing.

  • who's the guitarist?

  • @SuperOxideDimutase

    Mandy Meyer

  • @SuperOxideDimutase I believe it is Treavor Rabin if I spelled it right. He was the lead singer for Yes for a while, a ways back.

  • @thesoothsayers Hrm, never heard that he's been with Asia. He was doing 90125 with Yes this year and he was never the lead singer. Jon Anderson was.

  • @Djasper321 : Trevor Rabin did sing some of the YES songs,,, and was lead singer for the Eighties incarnation of YES with Chris Squire, Alan White, and Tony Kaye. There were 2 groups of YES members singing YES songs during this period; the other group being 'Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, and Howe', comprised of vocalist Jon Anderson, Bill Bruford, Rick Wakeman, and Steve Howe -

  • @1970manxsr That wasn't Yes, that was Cinema. They became Yes after Jon Anderson joined the band and most of the music was already written. And Yes, depending on how you see it; trevor Rabin shared the lead singer role with Jon. And ABWH is one of fmy favorite records :)

  • @SuperOxideDimutase :Accepting an invitation from industry heavyweight John Kalodner, he moved to Los Angeles to play in an early version of what became Asia.

  • Wetton a beautiful man and a beautiful voice :D :D

  • YEAH!! awesome video I haven´t seen it before!!

  • Excellent, rare video...great sound and picture quality. Thanks for sharing!
