Well at least they had an old Cadillac to chauffeur them around town. Beats a Honda 600...the Japanese seem to be unsure of whether they're handling a pop music sensation or the plague. Culture clash. Well you have to hand it to the Nipponese for trying their best to get into the spirit of the event, at least they didn't attack them as the Phillipinos did or ban them entirely from performing as the Israelis did. (Another reason to dislike the Israelis...)
@kassandrasduplex Because The Beatles were used on us to push the drug culture and sexual immortality counterculture of the 1960s, wich lead to total descruction of the family unit. And they even didn't wrote their own songs.
@mikatoen Theodor Adorno, a jewish music professor from Germany, using european classical music pieces from Mozart, Bizet, etc, and recomposing them into pop songs. dr John coleman has done a research about it. So called pop revolution of the sixties was actually a very high level socio-psychological experiment.

This was filmed in Japan at the end of June, 1966. Lennon did not meet Yoko Ono until November 1966, about 2 /12 months after the Beatles final tour of America.
What the heck is up with the questions they were asked? "How many times a week do you wash your hair?" XD I love Ringo's response. "About once a week, depending upon how dirty it is." LOL
Lennon's whistling in the hotel is funny. The Japanese audience was polite, not much screaming. The Beatles probably could not believe they could actually hear themselves singing for once.

At 06.39PM, the 4 bealtes arrived in a black cadillac, slipped through the tremendous number of press people, headed for the stage where fans were all wating for them. Now the Beatles show is opening.
..by E.H. ERIC
Thank you for waiting, now we'll have The Beatles for the first time here in Japan.
On June 30, finally the Beatles' first performance in Nippon Budokan was about to start in an eccentric atomosphere, under the strict security by 4,600 police officers.
208,861 applied for 30,000 tickets.
For the first time ever, the music performance was conducted in the martial sports hall of fame.
The tight security measure was enforced around the hotel with apporox. 10 thousand policemens, including plain-clothes officers and the Beatles were truly VIPs.
Passionate fans coming from all over Japan had difficulty to get close to the Beatles and only strolled around the hotel. The police officers tried to persuade them with some embarrassment.
Paul was in moss green Mods styled suit, light blue shirt, the tie was dark blue with white flowers.
John's outfits were salmon-pink suit and violet shot silk shirt.
One asked them, "Many of your fans are so passionate and seem to be ok even they cannot hear your music. What do you think about that?" The 4 gaved an impressive response, "They buy the record to listen to our music, and when they want to see us they come to the concert. They all know that."
...it was unusual for June; big typhoon no. 4 attacked Japan and seriously gave serious impact to the transportation. It was all covered with water in Haneda Tokyo Int'l airport here, which somehow boosted the extraordinary mood of the first performance in Japan by The Beatles, the world young idol.
Inside and outside of the airport, were full of the crowds of fans and policemens on guard, and in the arrival lobby here and there many skirmishes from the excitement.
Time was running out fast. It was already early morning of the following day, June 29, when finally the Beatles landed, 11hour behind the scheduled arrival time. Here they came to Japan to perform the very first concert in Asia.
1996.06.29 (Wed) 03.29AM
..got off the airplane (siren)
"03h47m 30sec Depart Haneda Airport"
(siren) Mr. Moonlight
"04h13m, Arrived at Tokyo Hilton. It took 26min. from Haneda AP"
Their room was #1005, Presidential Suite, in Tokyo Hilton Hotel, which boasted the summit level super luxurious facilities.
..Joint Press Conference in Banquet hall "Pearl"
At 03.20PM, after eating melon and drinking whisky coke, the fab approached to the "Pearl" room on the basment floor of Tokyo Hilton. Feeling all jet-lag, but they behaved in a delightful mannar.
Representatives from 3 grps; Tokyo Music Press, Magazine Reporters Club and Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan, gave questions to the Beatles. It was very nice of them to reply to many questions cheerfully, with a joke, with careful thoughts.
They were dressed fashionably:
Ringo was in yellow jacket with light-colored stripes, black pants, mods styled shirts with a black tie.
George was dressed in wine-red velvet jacket and beige pants.
jeircho, not that its important...but instead of commenting on your spelling in the very same comment...why didnt you just fix it? are you more ashamed of fixing your mistakes than making them? i mean fuck! (sorry for swearing!)
i heard they didnt want them there because they were performing at a sacred arena. and no girls like scearming (srry for spelling) girls there just military personal. looks like they were waiting for the scearming (again srry for spelling) girls to startle them!
the greates band ever...i wish i was 20 in that period...i can only imagine what it would be like livin in the 60's and listenin to the beatles while they were makin music
George Harrison was the real "cutie" and "handsome guy?" Maybe in your opinion, but in 99.9% of other female's opinions it's Paul. No one on earth has ever been cuter than Paul.
1:33- Paul's holding onto that bag awfully tight... I wonder what was in it... fast forward fourteen years to his next trip to Japan... oops.

"NIPPON BUDOKAN" (Judo Arena)

George Harrison was the real "cutie" and "handsome guy?" Maybe in your opinion, but in 99.9% of other female's opinions it's Paul. No one on earth has ever been cuter than Paul.
