to tell you the truth everybody is wrong he is not a comet or fantail but a vieltail, which have characteristics of a comet{ the massive tail} and the fantail{ double tail} but what make the vieltail different is that it is the only fancy goldfish that is slender and graceful and quite rare. i feel sorry for your lose note: some vieltails are born with 1 tail

@charlottelovescats dont buy cheap goldfish that are in stores.. they're only cheap cause they're bad quality = die faster,get sick easier and get infected easier. That what ive found out. But i guess your was alright. Just letting you know this for the future.

Yeah he's a comet. i have ie and he has a MASSIVE personality and get bored whenever the filtr and air pump is off. and then he started chasing a lback moore coz he liked the feel of his tail! Teir so cute aswell

it could also be whats called a cometkoi, name self explane atori, a comet/koi, and again, done that mix before aswell, (all carps can be bred together) so i think its eather a comet/fantail or a comet/koi lol, but he is so BEUTIFULL!!!!!

That's a comet goldfish, maybe with some veiltail in its distant past. Very pretty. I think you should give him a little more room though. He looks trapped.

it cant be a fantail cos fantail fish have double tails, your fish only have one, and as it is a long tail, with long fins, it is a comet goldfish or a sarassa comet fish

I have a Sarassa that has extremely long fins. Does he get any special classification for this characteristic? Also, I thought Bristols were a kind of Shubunkin, and are also known as "sweetheart fish" as they have a distinctively heart-shaped caudal fin.

It sure does, it's called a Sarassa comet.

Indeed, Bristols are round lobed Shubunkins. However their body and tail shape is more like that of a common than a comet. Hence, my description that Bristols are tri-colored commons.

I've got a Bristol who lost all of it's black except a tiny little speck on one of his pectoral fins. He now looks like a common....

This is a Comet.

Commons have short tails.

Shubunkins are tri-colored Comets.

Bristols are tri-colored Commons.

Sarassas are white and orange-red Comets.

I've got Sarassa yearlings that are hybridized with Tancho koi. They're called Koimets.

hii its def a comet cause it has one forked long tale. Fantails have double (paired) forked tales and fins. Hope this helped you.

it is a fan tail, a comet is alot smaller and has a strate tail not a fan and swims in fast jerky movements... not a comet

Lovely fish my dude ! The world record is some cat in denmark that claims his is like 16 inches long . A British tabloid the Sun has pix of a huge red & white sarasa comet some old lady has had for 10 years in a 40 gallon tank & it is huge .
