I saw Madonna in NYC performing at many small gigs in late '79, 80 long before she was

anybody. My friend knew one of the guys in the band. She was incredibly infectious to be around and that's exactly how she spoke! It's not fake believe me. Also to anybody British it still sounds American!!!!!

Pop wasn't a heavily used term back then. And you can thank Madonna and Michael Jackson for that - before them, pop music hardly even existed.
