Halal is not necessarily Kosher as Halal only refers to the meat used not the rest of the food.

Halaf meat is the muslim meat were the animal dies by standareds that are far from human and are against animal curelty laws in practicaly every country. The animal dies by getting its throat slit in a savage fashion sufficating on as it dies in agony. @ruumpleteaser Remember not too long ago when the Christian Sarah Palin went to a turkey slaughter house on Thanksgiving where turkeys were killed by having their throats slit, and the Christian Sarah Palin defended this as good and American. halal & kosher are similar but not exactly the same: there's actually a wikipedia page comparing the two that I apparently cannot post here. major differences are the acceptance as halal of some shellfish [that are not kosher] and halal's requirement that no alcohol be used in the preparation of food [not a kosher requirement]. also, halal allows for consumption of all parts of an animal considered halal, while kosher rules prohibit the eating of certain parts of even "acceptable" animals.
