They were the original Four Horsemen. The inspiration for Ric Flair to form other Horsemen-like squads in WCW during the 1990s, WWE during 2000 and beyond, and recently in TNA for 2010s. The most memorable and most hated faction to rule the NWA during the 1980s. The name should rightfully be Flair's and NWA's not the WWE's.
@thedude19766 You said it. The NWA has got to take notice of wrestlers that made a lot of history in their promotion and/or other promotions associated with them. So NWA. Honour your legends with your hall of fame. Don't leave anybody out.
I live in Dallas, Texas and attended this event in Charlotte...it was a VERY VERY Special moment for me in my life and I truly was a kid in a candystore when I met Wrestling Royalty this day...Ric, Arn, Tully, Barry and J.J.....what an awesome day it was and It's hard to believe at how fast a year goes by....one year ago today I was at The Four Horsemen Reunion in Charlotte, North Carolina with TRUE TRUE Wrestling Royalty...Diamonds Are Forever...And So Are The Four Horsemen!! :)
I'm not sure who Ole likes or dislikes, but he's certainly less than thrilled with what the business has become. For example, I'm not sure Ole's non-appearance after Flair's "retirement" a couple years ago was so much anti-Flair as it was he despises the WWE and the McMahons.
Ole was from the verne gagne era...He took the buisness to serious, and hated any high spots or too flashy gimmicks...He was instrumental in arns early career, and was kinda pushed into the whole horseman gimmick...fuck him...he is no stu hart.
The video of this was sad, because it was painfully obvious that Ole wanted no part of the others... Which is sad, because he should be proud of what he did during the Horsemen run...
You need to watch the video again then, and pay better attention this time. Sure he said he hates Flair. Gosh, what a surprise, But he NEVER said he was doing it for the payday. Those are YOUR WORDS and not his.
The only time he even mentions money is when Feinstein approaches him and reminds him about a shoot interview they did with him last year, and Ole quipped something like "You gonna pay me another 500 bucks?"
FYI, jldraw, all 90+ legends taking part in the weekend did it because it was a payday.
Thanks for sharing the opinions you derived from looking at photos from the event. Now, maybe someone that was actually at fanfest could tell you how much the fans really enjoy Ole at these fanfest weekends...
I just got back from Charlotte, North Carolina attending the Four Horsemen Reunion, and Ladies and Gentlemen...it was simply AWESOME!!! Words DO NOT express the happiness and joy I am feeling...meeting these guys and taking pictures with them was certainly a great thrill....this certainly was a day I will never forget for the rest of my life....it really was one of the GREATEST days of my life that's for sure....the organizer did one hell of a job today....I have memories to last a lifetime!
the question is can ole and ric get along they did not when ole ran wcw. but thank you greg ole is getting old now this maybe the last time but I am glad to see they got the band back together again just wish ole would have been there for ric retirment party on raw last year just wish wwe can bring them all back together again and it is about time that the oranginal minnasota wrecking crew go in the hall of fame and double a too
Music of the old world wide program. Damn them were the days, Vince couldn't compete with the NWA, if the Nwa was ran correctly, their wouldn't be a WWE! Anything Vince puts on now compared to this SUCKS!
Maybe the Appearance Fees will help salve old wounds. This should be unbelievable. I met Tully at Booker T's Show in Houston and I have that 1986 Original Four Horsemen Photo they showed. This should be a great convention. Love the old NWA Music. Whoooooooooooooooooo!
Damn, that' sgoing to be crazy! Especially that BS , that the bitter old man said about the greatest ever! WOOO Hope they get this on dvd, I love how Flair is continuing his thing without Vince. Flair was going to go back to work with WWE, but Vince wanted to control Flair. Naitch walked.
not exactly. he liked arn and windam. just doesn't like tully because tully was an asshole in his opinion. flair is a liar, cheat and in ole's opinion inluding the living legend bruno samartino wrestled the same match for years.
