  • delafunk...yesss

  • know thats a funky riff

  • THIS IS REAL MUSIC. Most of today music can be described in two ways: 1.Trix music as they are for kids, many of them grown unfortunately and 2.ACME music; today's artist more than often construct their music the way Wile E. Coyote constructs an ACME grenade.

  • @hawkhulk Hey, that's pretty funny, unfortunately it's true.

  • Thank God I was 17 and dancing my ass off in 1981 when this came out. Thank God I remember clubs and went to clubs in Baltimore and DC when they were about 2-3 turntables and great mixer and big-ass speakers. We were about the DJ and how he created magic in the mix, it was like going to church. Thank God we went to clubs to dance, and enjoy the music and life, No metal detectors-No fights-we were too happy to fight. We did not want to stop the fun for any reason-Fights-Guns Please...

    Toree Hill.

  • you can say that again

  • Spring 1981 ...... What great times in NYC !

  • It feels good 2 close ur eyes and let the music take u back 2 a time when music itself made u feel GOOD all over. This is an example...the message ..... the music....the mood.

  • Well hell, if I wasn't pushing 58 I might try to break dance or something good cause this jam is hot! I miss the old days. I feel more sorry for the young people everyday. They only think what they have is good, because they are conditioned to believe what it popular is best, but they are truly missing out on so many wonderful things we had. It's downright depressing going to clubs these days. No one dances! They go just to stand around looking cool and have NO FUN!!!!!!!

  • When the sound moves me on the floor I keep back for more it makes me feel so free takes me higher where I want to be.....Back then we went to clubs to dance and have fun.

  • @jcarrasq2002 Ain't that the truth. It's sad that people can't go out and enjoy themselves anymore without worrying about being ridiculed. No sense of brotherhood among the people anymore, everyone is out just to get something instead of enjoying life. That's no way to go through life! This era will never happen again! It was a time of harmony among people. Everyone got together and got along and it was the music that brought us together.

  • I love this song by The Strikers, and it was a disco favorite to the max. Glad I can still hear it here, even though I still have it, and it is in excellent condition. Wish they would make some more great jams like this. Bring back the Disco people!

  • The good old days when i was a kid growing up in Brooklyn doing graffiti, break dancing and cutting school, those were the days, what great memories.

  • did these guys do "inch by inch" that was nasty

  • My teenage years were wonderful. The music kept everyone happy!!!

  • now this is the JAM!!!!!!!

  • Wow, I was hanging out in Cesior in NYC when this song came out....it was truly a crowd favorite....this is what could be called pre-House kinda....hahaha...the live instruments should show anyone that these are really musicans..saw the strikers a few places in NY....Always had a great show....a Favorite at the Garage..funny thing about classics....they always sound good....nuff said...Peace & Love

  • @DRDEVINE1 Yes! You sound like me because I used to do the same thing on Sunday morning after the clubs.I rememeber Charlie Barnett. He was a funny guy and i love the way he used to draw in the crowds at WaSqPk He would have everyone around him maake some noise to draw in a even bigger crowd.. He did a couple of movies but he never really blew up like Dave Chapelle. I'm sure we crossed paths at the clubs back then. Peace my brother.

  • @pluggedin2u deff..rip larry levan..he use to go off on this tune..

  • @chinita41

Yes! You know! Thanks for the reply. I didnt think anyone would actually read them.

It's good to know that there are quite a few Garage/ Loft people that can relate to that unique experience back in the day.

  • If you didn't grow up in Brooklyn during this time period, you have not lived. Simply magic.

  • remember when your dad/grandad said "they dont make them like they used to".... see a pattern?

  • @953recordings unfortunately this cliche has REALLY REALLY! come to pass, where are you gonna go today to get something good enuff to even stand beside yesterday's funk?

  • Where's the "love" button?

  • blurrrrrrrrrrrr ...do the Patty Duke..Do the Patty Duke

  • THIS SONG IS BASICALLY 10:00 LONG....PLAY THIS IN THE CLUB TODAY THE YOUNG ONES WILL CRY THAT THIS IS TOO LONG... NOW THE TWIST TO THIS IS...... REAL MUSICIAN WENT INTO THE STUDIOS AND BUST THEIR A****S TO MAKE THESE SONGS.... AND PEOPLE DIDNT COMPLAINT ABOUT HOW LONG THE SONG WAS ... NOW DAYS THEY GO INTO THE STUDIOS, ONE MAN AND A COMPUTER... MAKES A SONG WITH A AVERAGE TIME OF 4--5 MINUTES AND THEY GETS WINDED JUST LISTENING ....HOW TIME HAS CHANGE....!!!!!!!

  • @nishka98 great observation-> TECHNOLOGY, GREED and IGNORANCE is now the rhythm, HOWEVER WE THE NOSTALGIC GENERATION SHALL KEEP THE GROOVE ALIVE !

  • @nishka98

youre a dick - its the industry, not just the artist

  • @motivatedbyhate I WANT YOU TO TAKE A MOMENT AND PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS ...MY COMMENT WAS NOT TOWARDS THE INDUSTRY OR ARTIST, BUT MORE TOWARDS HOW THE YOUNGER GENERATION TODAY RELATES TO MUSIC..... PARTICULARLY THE LENTH OF MANY OLD SONGS THEY TEND TO ALWAYS COMPLAINT, THAT THEY'RE TOO LONG.....YOU KNOW WHAT!!!... WHY AM I WASTING MY TIME EXPLAINING MYSELF TO SOMEONE WHO OBVIOUSLY READS SHIT THEY DONT UNDERSTAND AND HAVE THE BALLS TO COMMENT ON MY COMMENT GET A F**G LIFE......!!!!!!!

  • @nishka98

    yerrrrrr a gayyyyy

  • @nishka98 If you're going to shout at the kids on your lawn you should realise that they not only know the song and dance to it but that unlike you, they realise that the studio was a crucial instrument in its production.

  • Comment removed

  • @struthBtold ARE YOU CLUELESS TOO....?? FIRST OF ALL I DID MENTION A FEW THING IN MY PREVIOUS COMMENTS ABOUT HOW SONGS ARE MADE TODAY...LET ME CLEAR UP MY COMMENT FOR THE CLULESS.. I AM NOT GOING AT ANY ARTIST OR AM I GOING EVEN AT THE INDUSTRY IF IT SAME THAT WAY... THIS SONG 9:52... MOST OF THE OLDER SONGS THAT I PLAY, EVEN IN MY OWN HOUSE TODAY, MY KIDS TEND TO COMPLAINT ABOUT THE LENTH OF SOME OF THE OLDER DANCE SONGS.. WHEN I WAS YOUNG THESE SONGS WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH FOR ME THATS IT

  • @nishka98 OKAY!!! BODY MUSIC IS THE JAM!! EV'RY BODY WAS ON THE DANCE FOR KICKING, JUMPING HEH-HA!!

  • @nishka98 I really feel you on that...My godchildren have said"Now we know how you and Mommy stayed so slim back in the day. Your songs lasts for 15 min!!!! At the time Martin Circus was playing...a 16 min song! LOL

  • @jurseenae FINALLY SOMEONE WHO TRULY GETS THE POINT OF MY COMMENT ABOVE.... ITS ABOUT THE LENTH OF THESE SONGS AND NOTHING ELSE SOMETIMES WE USE CERTAIN REMARKS TO GET TO THE POINT.... NO PUN INTENDED.....!!!!!!

  • @nishka98 Yes I understand...But on that same note, why waste your precious time responding to people who obviously didn't understand your original post? Those who responded negatively DID NOT READ THE ENTIRE POST! I am a club head from the '80's & '90's. Only TRUE house/club heads really comprehend what you were referring to! The length of the song, people! Back then a song would last 15-20 min.We were on the floor the entire time dancing and singing and got mad when it ended!! GOOD TIMES!!!

  • @jurseenae THANK YOU.... LOL 15-20 YES! THEY WERE LONG AND EXCITING, AND MAY THEY CONTINUE TO LIVE ON LONG AND EXCITING IN OUR HEARTS AND EARS......

  • @nishka98 :) I've got your back against the ignoramus @sses that know not what they are reading!!!! hit up some of my CLUB links on facebook!!!

  • @jurseenae Newark, Jersey City BABY!! Those were the days, GOOD TIMES like ya said!!

  • @nishka98

You can not compare 2 genres. Yes, todays dance music is just techno-sound. Since the mid 80 nothing changed at all. Call it what you want but it is not by musicans. Most folks today do not play even a instrument. Just moving around samples on the pc. EQ-Flanger UP-DOWN and voila eat the new hit. All these kind of "putyourfavoriteword-House" sounds the same. My kids eat the music like cheesburger. Eat it and forget it.

  • @nishka98

Hi Nishka, I could not agree with you more. When tracks like these were played by djs you did not want them to end they were that good. This is up there with the very best of them. Keep the faith.

    Ricky

  • @blondericky YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS......!!!!!!!

  • @nishka98 You hit the nail on the head, tru dat.

  • @nishka98 The longer the better!! :)

  • @nishka98 Actually, the majority of 'club mixes' from current 'dance' artists also have a similar length of playing time. As an 'old un' I can confirm that the original full length mixes came about because DJ's wanted to extend the most popular choons whilst they were playing live ... so everybody could keep dancin' and prancin' ,,, One of the first 'long' 12 inch choons was Double Exposure 'Ten percent' which is very long as well.

  • @nishka98 YOU PUT IT IN A NUTSHELL -- YOU SAID IT MY FRIEND!!

    DISCO AL

  • @nishka98 times have changed but hallucinogenics are well and alive. These nubies just need some goodies to help them along...

  • @nishka98 Indeed. Don't worry they would react like that because they have blinders on and lose interest quickly. It's the sign of the times and I'm glad I was partying hard to this back then. The giant 45/extended plays records were invented because people like us demanded more music. I started doing parties a few years before this came out and there is nothing that delights a DJ like a nice long track. Later.

  • merci mozinor ``

  • "I REMEMBER THIS JAM!!!!"

  • do the patty duke ..do the patty duke.... Yeah

  • @LEGSUDESIRE I've long wondered how to do the patty duke. (I'm assuming it was a dance step.) I've heard it in early hip hop as well. Any idea?

  • @struthBtold .Well the dance is similar to the dance step that Patty Duke Aston did in her show back in the 60's. wiggle your feet and wring your wrists up in the air over your head.

  • Best disco in town...GREG EDWARDS ... THE LYCEYUM...RADIO INVICTA...JFM.... RADIO HORIZON.....LONDON LOST IN THE GROOVE......fantastic times.
