I would have bought this instead of trainz, but you can only download this, you cant buy a dvd. That just yells "RIP OFF!" And besides, this game has like no free add ons or expansion packs. But I have to hand it to Railworks, the graphics are fucking amazing.

I had gotten MSTS back in '02. Even though the graphics are pretty much s**t, the sounds and physics are pretty realistic. Then I had gotten this back in '08. When I first started playing it, I was pretty much "head over heels". But then I realized that there were quite a few things wrong with this game;

1. The headlights don't actually light up the area.

2. Sounds aren't accurate at all.

3. Very little content (or at least "free" content) available.

Bottom line: this game is an EPIC FAIL!

Hey all. You don't have to buy all of the DLC. The base software has plenty for a casual sim fan. The DLC enable you to spend wisely and get only the add-ons you are interested in.

The point is this: a train sim is a low volume product therefore the profits are low compared to a blockbuster title like Far Cry. So the software company has to make money to pay their staff right? If DLC is the way to do that then I'm happy to spend knowing that I'm helping to support the future of this title.

this game is just LOL. Full of bugs, no content (just few scenarios). The dlc-s are usually just locomotives with 1 or 2 scenarios, for really ridiculous price (imho its a shame to make payware a content like these dlcs).

There are just few fan made addons since 3/4 year when this game came out, and as i see it wont change, bcuz of bugs and the weaknesses of route builder.

Absolutely don't worth it's price atm, and i fear it won't change...

in a way, yes. i jump in to the game and enter some idiots save file, walk on the tracks and as they are about to hit me they are like WOOP WOOP LOLOLOLOLL but then i pull out a case full of c4 and throw it on da train then run away den asplode there faces off

first of all people find it a relaxing hobby driving trains (like my grandad RIP) but in this case its a stimulatar because you cant just go and drive a train you have to have the money and so forth. and secondly this is a brilliantly designed game, its so accurate. Are you nuts?

Looks nice but I think there's too much emphasis on eye candy. Can see some of the same main weaknesses MSTS had that detract from the sense of realism, like poor wheel-on-track sounds and train motion that's perfectly stable with no bounce or sway. The freeware BVE has simulated both those things well for 8 years.
