Breathy is not a desirable sound.

She kind of needs to figure that out.

actually, you are wrong! If you are singing classical music, the idea is to get the excess breath out of your sound, and I know that b/c I sing classical as well. But for much of pop, rock. rnb, folk, jazz and other styles of more popular music, adding breath to the "mix" IS a technique and stylistic tool. It's one thing to be "out of breath" or not having control, and another to specifically be adding breath to the mix to make it more ethereal, or on certain notes to add suspense/drama/color

Ok, first off, I'm sorry for how rude my comment was, I was mad about something else, and I shouldn't have taken it out on you.

But I still think that breathy in general is just a bad sound.

I'll give you credit for having some control with your breathiness. But you should try using other styles to add character to your music.

Example: I use dynamics to make more dramatic sounds, or sounds with more character in general.

For an ethereal sound, try just making it lighter, without being breathy.

thank you for your apology.. The reason I chose to be breathy on this was b/c it is a lullabye and I enjoy that sound in a lullabye. I also love using breathy tones in jazz and some pop and rock though not as much through the song.. just in certain spots. You are entitled to your opinion of not liking breathy sounds, but many others do like it including myself (when it is controlled and not as a result of a breathing issue of course).
