Major props man! I just finished this game on the WII(same system as you) with like a zillion continues. It's unfortunate that people think that your cheating. If they only knew, 1. There is no emulator on the WII. 2. Even this game set on "Easy" is still a headache to beat.

Great job on that...you gotta try the arcade version. The 6th level is ridiculous! Two unicorn enemies instead of one when you climb first ladder. And the Satans (bigger ones) are much harder to kill and are faster and take more hits. I made it to the last two Satans about a thousand times and couldn't beat it with the cross. Beat them with the knives and went back to the beginning of the 5th.

Hey Doc, if you want a better challenge download mame, and get the japanese version revision c of this game; it has 2 unicorns at the start of stage 6, the satans take 6 hits each hit (hits with wings closed do no damage) instead of 4, and move a bit faster. Also misson 2 is harder. And unlike revision 3 or world set 1 it is more balanced (in those 2 versions the satans are RIDICULOUSLY fast, and the 2 unicorns move instantly when you climb the ladder in stage 6)

One of the most challenging series of all time. It took me months to get to level three on NES version. We still play this series on the Wii's Virtual Console. I have friends that are great at most games but can't get passed level one. Awesome to see videos like this.

@AkaMouTinn Actually he hit him 10 ten times if you count it. And the difficulty in this game does not affect the # of hits. It mostly affects how often enemies spawn, how fast some move (like the zombie), and how often they shoot. There is a cheat on mame to increase or lowers the hits mid size and boss enemies take.

Nicely done my friend,problem is this is not the true arcade version,this one is a lot easier to beat particularly the big red devils, if you play the US arcade version you will realize is not all that easy,Japanese version is a little less difficult,with the exception of the tower stage where you for instance have to face two cyclops instead of just one.

Well, I finally beat the US ROM version of this game. It took forever, but it's done. hehe. I've been trying to see if I can 1 life it through the World ROM since the red demon bosses aren't next to impossible on this and the Japanese ROMs. :)

Very nice! I'm still trying to beat this sucker. I can get to the 2 demons at the end, but no farther. I'm playing the US ROM, which seems somewhat tougher than this one. Like tokyodave says, seems enemies take more hits, specifically those Demon bosses. Also, on the last stage before the main boss, there are two giant cyclops' instead of just the one. However, there's a trick/glitch to get past them. Otherwise it's impossible to pass them without losing at least your armour.

Anyway, awesome!

There is another video on Youtube where davil completes the US ROM on one life. Ironically the version on the US compilation is actually the Japanese ROM, as far as I can tell.

To get the best ending you have to beat the game twice. Evil, I know. After that it just lets you keep going until you run out of lives. Loop 3 has the same ending as loop 1 and loop 4 has the same as loop 2. I wouldn't be surprised if someone has counter-stopped it since it doesn't get harder after the fourth loop.

Good question! The dagger is the best weapon in the game. However, the game won't let you pass level 6 unless you have the Shield. It says something about, this weapon isn't strong enough, go get the Shield and come back. I lucked out a bit because I was able to pick up the Shield without stopping. Often I have to just keep killing enemies until one of them finally drops the Shield.

I'm playing on the capcom classics japan ver. It seems harder for some reason. The patterns are more crazy and the enemies take more hits, and I'm stuck at the last boss and I have the holy cross(not the shield) and I hit him constantly for the ENTIRE time limit and nothing happens. no turning me away to a earlier stage no find a new weapon. It looks like you killed him with about 20 hits. I'm up in the 60 or 70 hit range and I never kill him

You have to hit the BOTTOM face. To do this you have to slide your weapon in between the arm and the knee. If you just hit the arm or the knee you don't do any damage. Don't bother attacking the head on top either. Basically you have to attack in the middle of your jump, as you are on the way up or down. This should work with all versions.
