@tocofool The backwalking is a way to speed up your movement in a TAS like this one.

Normal walking is 1-2-1-2 pixels/frame. But with this technique you can speed it up to 2-2-2-2 pixels/frame when going left and up.

To do it you need to hold left and press right every second frame, or hold up and press down every second frame.

@DivinoNekkro There are different TAS categories. The 5 minutes one actually 3:44) uses a glitch that is banned in the full runs.

Glitches in general are always accepted however, such as the floating glitch (Which is done by turboing the A button after the boots are obtained).

You should also note that this run is a Tool Assisted Speedrun, which are played with an emulator in slow motion and with the use of save states.

@ScaniaDronninga In order to catch things you have to get the Bug Catching Net. It is found in a house in Kakariko Village in the Light World after you have obtained a bottle.

Two of the bottles can be obtained in Kakariko Village, so I suggest you use the mirror and go back there to find them =).

Only one problem...this isn't a 100% run.

Now, it's good, don't get me wrong - in fact, I've had it on my computer for several months now for rewatching purposes. But it's NOT a 100% run. No heart pieces are gotten, no extraneous items, no upgrades, nada. Baseline run.

What I really want to see is a full 100% TAS run. If this, the baseline game, can be done in about 1:15, I want to see what a full 100% run could be done in. Maybe 1:45?

@BenAllen52 Yeah, it's not 100%. I have no idea why Rogueyoshi wrote that it was. This run was made by the TASers Flagitious. His intentions wasn't to make a 100% run, and he never stated that he did either.

I have started working on a 100% TAS, not sure if I'll ever finish it though. The time should be around 1:30 though. Fastest real time 100% run is 1:48, great run that is!

@bimmers29 They don't hack it in or anything. I don't quite know how it works, but I'm pretty sure they use save states and turbos.

So they keep loading back that fight over and over again, until they get the fastest one. The emulator has its own recorder, so it will record the latest save state. That way, it looks like he's really good in the game.

Plus TAS runners use glitches to get to things faster, which explains the running backwards. They also like making it look cool.

@viniciosscarvalho The way this Tool Assisted Speedrun was done is the following: You play the game on an emulator by slowing down the game as much as possible. A game second is 60 frames for this game, for each of the frames you choose what input to be made. In the progress you are constantly using save states that you can load if you make an error.

The result is how a run would look like with perfect human reflexes. The fastest run in theory.
