the taunt needs to be done after the focus immediately. almost as if inputting the 2 moves simultaneously. best way do the focus with 1 finger and roll the finger next to it at the same time to the hp, and hk. takes practice its so tight the timing

What does "kara" mean? Where does it come from? I know that, in Japanese, it means "empty". Maybe it's named kara taunt because it's the Focus Attack is so quickly done that it's almost null or non-existent. The empty Focus Attack cancelled into a taunt.

@2kriss If you were to attempt this on pad, I imagine it would be similar to the way you would do Ken's kara throw. Assuming you're using a pad with six buttons on the face, slide your thumb from mp mk to hp hk as quickly as you can. Sliding is key, if you try to pick your thumb up, it'll take too long. Look up vids on Ken's kara throw on pad to get a better idea of what I mean.

@2kriss You basically do it at almost the same time. Also, you have to do it RIGHT BEFORE the projectile(or any other move) hits you. You can also do armor cancelling, which is the same thing, but instead of cancelling a focus attack, you cancel the startup of a move that has armor, like El Fuerte's EX Run, or Abel's EX Change of direction, or Makoto's command grab, or Balrog's ex dash punches. you cancel the first frame into something else. Youtube has many videos of it.
