Because no other character really has two completely different looks like that still going on in games. Wario still has is classic look in some games, and his Wairoware look in others. Lots of fans were annoyed about being stuck with the Warioware one.

Ike should've had his different tiers as costumes instead of just different colors, i.e path of radiance hero, dawn of radiance hero and dawn of radiance vanguard. That would've been awsome. Twilight link should've had zora armor and magic armor as an alternate. Toon link should've had his pajammas as an alternate, just like in wind waker. I like what they did with ganondorf though. A lot of people should've gotten the same treatment as wario though.
