first and foremost i love to see a comedian take down a heckler, so what i say next comes with a grain of salt.

how hard is it to shoot down a heckler when all you have to do is say "well i'm the one with the mic" or "you payed to get in didn't you" or "i'm comedian it's my job to make people laugh and you can't do it".

there are lots of generalized anti-heckler comments that many of em use. none original, none all that funny, people just laugh because a drunk idiot is being embarrased.

Theres assholes everywhere. You commit a fallacy by assuming the influx of heckling videos from Austrailia are indicative of the mannerisms there. It could be that Australians are more likely to pull out that camcorder, or perhaps more likely to post their footage on youtube. Any number of reasons could contribute to why you have seen so many aussie hecklers.

Best way to handle a heckler is to tell them that you have a gun, maybe wave it around a bit, and inform the heckler that after the show you are going to shoot him. Equally good and probably less illegal is too substitute the gun with a knife.
