Earthday is just another day in my book. I don't change anything for it nor even pay attention to when it is. Going vegan for me will never happen either.
@MCShellii Damn are you a hippy?? LOL I eat meat, drive all the time,Buy my produce, buy bottled water,I even love the plastic bags from grocery stores. I reuse them as trash bags for the bathrooms and I don't recycle...... Too much of a hassle plus no recycling place near me.
Hi! its so good to pay attention to this! to be honest with you, im not allowed to drive (i'm 13 so i have to wait 5 years because i live in the Netherlands), i dont drink bottle-water, i am vegetarian all year around and we already have our little garden with basil, potatoes, tomatoes, rosemary, oregano, and corn...So I am going to make a salad instead of a warm dinner for my mom :-) (i always cook on friday). But again, good to talk about this!
@ktgrl1818 You probably will soon. I've been vegetarian for 5 years now, and I have had cravings in the second year (first wasn't so bad). You learn to ignore them eventually (I haven't had one since-in fact now even the smell of meat is repulsive to me).
I know it sounds hard to go vegan permanently, but it's not if you go gradually. Start by cutting out red meat, then everything but fish, then some dairy, then all dairy. It took me a total of four years to wean gradually off animal products, but I'm much thinner and HEALTHIER now. Better for the planet, better for your conscience.
When you talked about the amount of plastic we use, it made me think of a shirt I bought that says we use over 30 billion water bottles a year and 1.04 billion plastic bags each day. less than 1% of each of these are recycled. The company I bought the shirt from, Verde Styles, plants a tree for each teeshirt that is bought from their site. I plan to buy a couple shirts to celebrate Earth Day!
I can't go vegan, because I'm not a crazy person that is easily swayed by bullshit. So for Earth Day I'll eat a lot more meat than normal to get rid of more cows.
I remember the first few earth days when they told us that global freezing was going to end the planet . I think i will get in my 4x4 truck and go down to the local steak house for a t bone and a beer .
vegetarian all day today (but I don't eat meat more than 3 times a week anyway) + taking the train instead of car + planting herbs in my garden (well.. kinda did that already yesterday) + taking a homemade lunch in re-usable container to work ... still working on the waterbotle part, so I guess I'm gonna treat the earth and myself to a fancy waterbotle today ;-) (yeeh for shopping ;-) xx happy earthday you all!
@leetbh There longevity has more to do with the lack or CO2 in the cans than its preservatives. I mean, sardines coated in extra virgin olive oil are nutritious, tasty and last long. Not an opinion, a fact.
yayy! great video! i do think everyone should try to go vegan for even a week! it reduces weight, improves skin, digestion, sport performance. eevrything!!!
im cool with all the other tips..but unfortunately the meat will still be produced and its good part of a diet..if people wanted to go veggy for their lives then it will impact but unfortunetly going veg for one day will only make the meat spoil in the stores and nothing will change. if you think about it, if people are going to do it for one day then they'll just have it in their freezer or something :P i think its a good idea to go vegetarian for a life style though..just a day doesnt work
My "Earth Day" is everyday. I eat mainly canned food cause is has a long shelf life and is typically fish, veg, fruit and soup. Cans go right into the recycle bin once I'm done.

1. I don't drive.
2. I'm vegetarian.
3. I have a garden (except in the winter...)
4. I drink from a reusable water bottle.
I think its safe to say...I'm all set!
