  • Video was amazing, there's just one part where my hoop always slips right before my knees and I can never get it back up, but practice makes perfect. It's just so annoying, same spot everytime, and I can't figure out what i'm doing wrong.

  • @Liquorlish Without seeing you I can't be sure but I can tell you that many, many people have a place on their legs where they lose it because they are looking down at the hoop. Try lifting from the heart, leaning back and looking up at the sky. Notice if, when the hoop starts to go down, you start to bend at the middle and lean forward also. If so, there's your problem. Really bend your knees, lean back and look up at the sky so your knees are pushing up & under the hoop. (If not, send a vid?)

  • Wow, I thought I would NEVER get it. After watching your video I just tried again and voila. So awesome. Thank you. :-)

  • GREAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!! thank you! Best leg hooping tutorial! I´ve been drinving myself crazy here in Argentina, trying to do it...and you just teach me! :) thanks!!!

  • YOU ARE AHMAZIN'! Best hoop tutorial ever, cutest accent :) Super helpful! I am kind of a new hooper and I've picked it up put it down so many times bc my hoopin family is small so it's hard to learn anything. You are super graceful,Thank you so much!

  • OMG, I have been trying SOOOO hard to learn how to hoop on my legs. Your video is SO HELPFUL!!!!!!! I can't even believe it! Not only did address hooping on the legs, but so many deeper ideas about HOW to go about learning the move. <3 it! Thank you so much!!!!

  • you are such a great teacher! tahnk you for all your wonderful tutorials.. i've learned so much.. it's only been three months since i started, but i'm addicted forever!

  • best tutorial on leg hooping yet! I can finally do it yayy thank you =)

  • @xokailey23 That's awesome! Thanks for letting me know. I love to hear when people get it. It took me such a long time to get leg hooping (and a lot of bruises too) so it feels good to help someone else not have to go that route. Yay! Congratulations!!! (Next stop ... walking while leg hooping!)

  • @Caroleeena walking!! seems impossible now but eventually it will happen ; ) another thing i learned from this video...thigh high socks prevent major bruising lol

  • Your videos are so nice I've just subscribed to your channel. I got the knee hooping some days ago but still cannot get it back, I'm working on it! I saw that your hoop is very thin and I think it might help, did you buy it or did you make it yourself? What materials did you use? For the moment I can only use hoops that I bought i toy stores because I live in Taiwan and still need to figure out where to find the material needed to make my own hoops or how to say that in Chinese!!

  • @fairynefertari I did make my hoop. It's easy to do. I used 100 psi (or 125 psi works too) irrigation tubing (or plumbing pipe) with gaffer tape as the wrap. The particular brand is called Silv-o-line Flexipipe and it's available at a lot of hardware and plumbing stores. I think you can buy it online from McMasters also. I'm pretty sure they ship to where you are. If you need help finding them online, drop me a line and I'll share a link. (Youtube won't let me share it here for some reason...)

  • I love the way u explain this! Still can't figure it out though :(

  • @hoopinfool21 You will get it. It took me a while too. Just be patient with yourself, try lots of different ways, take breaks in between, and know that if you keep at it, you WILL get it. It's just a matter of time. Best of luck! I hope you get it soon!

  • thank you so much!!! this was very helpful (I'm still working on this though :P)

  • @11bushi11 It takes a while. Be patient with yourself. Try a lot of different ways, use a few different hoops and watch this video a few times. Pretty soon you'll have it. It took me a really, really long time though so don't get discouraged. You will get it. It's just a matter of time.

  • you have such a lovely vibe about you that makes me take in all your info and put it to use. very bruised today was about to try it out but will take your advice on not doing that. thank you for taking the time to do your tutorials, you have a great groove and awesome hoop style. also thank you for caring about us noob hooper's health. paz y amor!!!!

  • @austinsmojo2 Thank you for this kind comment. I hope you are much closer to having this move or that you already have it!

  • You are such a sweetheart. Thanks for being a light int he world. :D

  • If your hoop is angling, it means the leg on that side is pushing harder (or doing all the work) and the the leg on the other side is not pushing hard enough or moving at all. Notice where the high point is. That's the leg doing all the work. Make its opposite work.

If you want your hoop to slow down, breathe slower. Move your heels farther apart. Spread your knees a bit, like a small plie. Don't let your legs or knees come together. Make each knee work individually.

    Learn to slow music too!

  • @Caroleeena Awesome! thank you so much! must try this tonight!

  • When I hoop at the knees it ends up going faster than it is on my waist. It also goes at an angle. Will doing more of the "seated" position you mentioned help with this?

  • At the end, you said it was bad for your health to hoop over your bruises? I LOVE my hooping bruises, I never bother to use the arnica cream. Is it really bad for your health to do that? My hooping bruises are like badges of honor :)

  • @1lisarussell It is dangerous to hoop on bruises! Bruises are broken vein or blood vessels under the skin. To batter them can release clotting blood into the veins or arteries. Blood clots can cause stroke, heart attack and varicose veins. They can lead to death and/or life long health issues. Do not hoop on bruises! Very bad for you. This is a public service message and something every hooper should know. That's why Arnica is so helpful. It gets you back to hooping fast. You can also pad areas.

  • heels down made all the difference. you rock!

  • @amberlynnereed Yay! I love to hear that! Congratulations.

  • yeah i've definately had a problem with my hoop not being level and i had no idea what that was about. so far this has helped a lot in telling me about hooping posture :)

  • thank youuu :D

  • this video has been the most helpful.... thank you so much :)

  • you are awesome!!! i love you for making these videos!!!!!

  • Your videos help me a lot! Thanks. How can I keep the hoop at the middle of my legs like you? When I hoop at the legs, my hoop drops imidiatly to my knees. I can keep it spinning there but it hurts and it is also imposible to lift. I keep trying but every single time the hoop drops to my knee level! :(

  • @vetelejos Hello Love! I apologize for not responding to this! I lost it in my email. Have you gotten this yet? If not, drop me an email and I'll help you figure it out.

  • You are so fabulous for posting tutorials-- you are far more thorough and logical than some of the other ladies that post them. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with those of us who are just learning! xoxoxox

  • I did it! I was trying this with a smaller hoop and couldn't do it. I finally got my big girl hoop and got it in no time. I'm still having trouble doing it in the opposite direction and I do have a problem with turning my feet in. This was really helpful! Thanks!

  • @Angiestooskberry Congratulations!!! Both on getting knee hooping and on your new hoop. Having the right tools makes all the difference. Yay!

  • WHat lotion for bruises? Where can I get it?

    :) Great video!

  • @AprylRed It's called Arnica Lotion (though it also comes in gel and pills but I think the lotion works best). You can get it at any natural food store, WholeFoods or online at Drugstore (dot) com. (It won't let me post a url) It's pretty cheap there actually. Cheaper than WholeFoods.

  • This is the best tutorial! Thank you for your time and sharing with everyone = ) and thankyou for tips and encouragement! :) happy hooping to you, too!

  • Does anyone know why is it that when my hoop starts going below my knees its looses the momentum?, especially at my ankels. That was an excellent break down. Thank you,

  • Probably because your calves are smaller than your thighs. It loses connection as it drops below the knees so it loses push and power. Also, foot hooping pretty much requires big, forward pushes. Trying to do it side-to-side bruises the ankles something awful but also, we're not accustomed to pushing that way. You have to pretend that you're kicking a soccar ball against a wall that is close to you -- kicking hard and fast -- repeatedly.

  • You're the best. I love your style and you're so inspiring. I can't find a teacher nearby but have learned so much from your tutorials. Think you could do a tutorial on reverses sometime, especially around the shoulders. Nobody seems to do this one.

  • Thanks so much! I am working on legs now that I finally got the shoulders! Keep on hoopin'! Thanks for the video, it was helpful!

  • Your videos are the best videos I've found on youtube! Please keep them coming! It's great to learn tips on how to hoop from someone who looks like a real person, not a barbie! Thanks a million!

  • This helped me out soooo much!! I have been struggling with knee hooping..I'm a side to side hooper and didn't know it!! thank you, thank you!

I am also really stuggling with vertical shoulder hooping,do you have a totourial on that??

    Peace and love....Hendryx...

  • Thanks so much! Knee hooping has been such a struggle for me. I thought I could live without it since I was picking up other tricks pretty fast, but realized if one should hoop well, one should knee hoop. Realizing I was a side-side hooper was a total revelation, and also your allusion to Elvis. I look a bit dorky, more like Forrest Gump doing the Elvis, but hopefully style and grace will soon follow.

  • Even Forrest Gump became a great athlete by applying himself. You hang in there and keep at it and you will get it also. Pretty soon you'll be doing the Elvis leg to Jail House Rock!

  • This helps me out so much! I have been trying to do this for weeks! Thank you for breaking it down for me!

  • my knees are bruised.. what am i doing wrong? lol

  • It may be that you need to try a lighter hoop. Also, if it's dropping straight to the knees and then you're trying to save it, that can lead to bruises. Try, instead, to take the hoop as low on your hips as you can without losing it and keep it there. This is your point of no return. Once you get it there and are able to maintain it, you can drop this point slowly lower and lower. Instead of thinking of knee hooping at its lowest point, try thinking of its highest -- thigh hooping. Write me w?'s

  • This is an awesome vid!

I'm still stuck, although I had a moment of success after watching your vid. My hoop gets stuck on my kneecaps, and I have to go into warp mode to keep it up. I can't figure out how you hoop so slowly around your thighs! Maybe if I don't get it soon I'll post a vid asking for help.

  • Try slowing your breath. The rest of our body follows our breath so instead of trying to slow the motion of your knees, slow the inhale and exhale of your breath. The rest will happen naturally.

  • Also, sit back in your heels. A lot of times we lean forward and then have to speed up to try to keep the hoop going. Sit back in your heels, keep your chin up and look forward.

  • really helpful THANK YOU!!

  • I really love how detailed you get with these tutorials. A lot of these tutorials I've watched are about 1-2 minutes long and don't cover even half of my questions. This looks like it might be really helpful to me, but I have one problem with leg hooping - I have a tendency to lose the hoop below my knees. Is there any way to get it back above your kneecaps after it drops?

  • If the hoop gets to your knees, an easy way to save it is to use the second leg it lands on when it comes around the front to fling the hoop so that it speeds up and reverses directions. If it's below the knees, then you have to thrust your shins forward right, left, right left, fast. If you speed it up enough, it will come back up to your thighs. If you slow it enough, you can hoop right on the tops of your feet! Then speed up and up it comes! Good luck. Let me know if this helps.

  • Wow, this is great. I didn't know the theory behind the mechanics but after watching this I figured out boobie hooping, neck hooping, and finished learning a trick I've been working on for awhile. Thank you!

  • Best tutorial for newbies that I have seen! Thank you! :)

  • Great advise!

  • SWEET! Thanks so much! Can't wait to try this.

  • I agree with everyone.. you are indeed a great teacher. I am off to try the leg tips you gave b/c nothing else seemed to help.

And PLEASE do something on chest hooping. PLEASE!!

  • thanks! i have been struggling with this for a while now.. so i just stripped off my pants and tried moving both legs instead of my feet and im getting the hang of it! little more practise i think i`ll have it down.

  • Awesome!!! Thanks for sharing!

  • I so love your videos!!!! I am working on the leg hooping and hip right now,,but I also need help with chest and upper body hooping. You arre such an inspiration! And yes,,it is so true ,,,when you say " keep trying , you will get it!"

  • OH CAROLEENA please do an upper body hooping tutorial, I still haven't gotten it. And does the size of your boobs have anything to do with it? For example would it be harder to do with big boobs? Thanks for you help, Sade

  • Hi Sade, I haven't forgotten this and I will. I just have to make time for it. I am setting it as a January goal though.

  • Thanks so much! I'm going to go and try this soon (its REALLY windy weather out right now& I don't really have room inside). I really appreciate your help!

  • Caroleeena, you are such a great teacher. Thanks for making these videos - every one has been a help, even on tricks I (think) already know.

  • thank you, thank you, thank you! i really loved this video as this has been a struggle of mine for the longest time EVER! the knees turning in thing is a definite me thing! i'm going to really try your techniques and i'll let you know my progress. yea you! YOU rock!

  • Woo-Hoo(p)! Thanks for the Drop Down & Shimmy Up Tip. I've worked out a few transitions, but this is by far the prettiest & smoothest. You ROCK! Gracias!

  • Caroleena!! This was amazing! It all makes sense now! I just had a major "Ah-ha!" moment! I'm off to practice!! Yeay!! (and yeah the nekid hooping is MUCH easier!) LOL
