Gay marches used to be really scary when I was a kid... it doesn't take much to create an entire generation of homophobic children. I grew up near San Francisco in the 60s, 70s, 80s.

As a kid, I was really impressed with Martin Luther King Jr., and as I learned of Susan B Anthony, Mahatma Ghandi, Nelson Mandela .. but clowns always really scared me. They still make me uncomfortable, so gay pride marches are uncomfortable.
