The Aston information is not quite correct. There were Five DBR1s built, not Four, and all of them remain in existence. Numbers; 1, 2, 4 and 5 are still actively campaigned at major events in the UK, particularly Goodwood and Silverstone Classic. DBR1/2 won Le Mans outright in 1959 (Salvadori/Shelby) and the year culminated with Aston Martin beating Ferrari and Porsche to win the Sportscar World Championship. This car, DBR1/3, also led the 1959 Le Mans race, driven by the great Sir Stirling Moss
@pikemancolley Jaguar was a great car and won at Le Mans with C-type and then with D-type in 1955 but never won the world championship brands. Ferrari won world championship brands in the following years: 1953 '54 '56 '57 '58 and 1960. hi!
@him89 that would sound terrible, if you ever get close to these sorts of cars you will realise what i mean, its both the choppy sound and the smell. You are only permitted to chuck a crate motor in a gt40 replica, cobra replica or something similar.
@gumby1008 I believe you can chuck whatever motor into any replica, it's your car. sure it's not gonna make Ferrari music but it will be just as fast and look just as good.
@gumby1008 No satnav, cd player, usb-ipod intergration, cassette player, ac, no modern anything makes cars like these pure and genuine. The era that the auto companies focused on driving and cared not for creature comforts. The 250 TR shown is a reproduction as they can't afford the $12.5 Mil to buy one!

@irideayz125aye Yep I agree the DBR1 is definitely the better looking car,
actually they would both look better with some wide rubber.

Also these are two car's I would love to see replicas of.
him89 1 year ago
@him89 if you make a replica you get rid of that smell and sound, you would need to get a engine made badly
gumby1008 1 year ago
@gumby1008 I wouldn't even bother getting an engine made for a replica, I'd just go for a crate motor.

@gumby1008 That is the beauty of these kinds of cars. They aren't supposed to smell like roses in comparo to today's exotics.

@d14d good someone who understands, when you have smelt a rare old car it just wouldn't seem right any different

I would take either car, both are amazing and priceless works of art. Well maybe not priceless lol Just a LOT of money.
him89 1 year ago
Yep, I would take the DBR1 over that TR250. Looks like the Ferrari had more body roll due to its higher ride height than the Aston.
