  • How can we have people dislike this song ? Idiots !

  • 9:02 that drumroll...

  • Brings a fucking tear to my eye

  • can somebody please tell me where I can download/buy this? I really NEED this shit!

  • @benwaggett Search "Video2mp3" on google, copy the link and paste it onto that page, then click on "convert"... ;)

  • Umm, sorry, it was 1969 - the time was, perhaps understandably, just a bit fuzzy.

  • OK, I did this, but do not recommend it. In 1968, the very first time I dropped LSD, this was the album that I listened to for the entire journey. suffice it to say, I had an interesting trip.

  • epic composition

  • flashback oh my!

  • When i hear this song or the Epitaph all other songs seem to be petty and irrelevant

  • this song always makes me happy no matter how shitty my day has been

  • Floyd have been more popular and around longer than Zeppelin and have sold and created more albums pink Floyd also has more variety in their music

  • Timeless song!

  • SONIC YOUTH -ANTENNA, SAME CHORD PROGRESSION FROM THE BEGINING

  • sera que algun dia se podra reunir esta banda contando con la partipacion de steve hackett, steve howe, carl palmer, ian anderson , john andersson, tony banks , anthony phillips, david byron, peter gabriel, phil collins, keith emerson,

  • Weird I'm so much younger than this song (15). Yet each time I listen to it, it feels like a new experience :D

  • what happened to this kind of music???

  • king crimson or pink floyd? impossible. Both.

  • Children Of Men anyone?

  • Is this King Crimson, juniors section ? Or arseholes section ? Such an amazing song - so surprising to find so many dickheads here !

  • I hear this was the runner-up song for 2 girls 1 cup. Is that true?

  • @XdeminglerXnumero1 No just for "one gay and a jar"

  • I heard this was in the movie "Children of Men". Anyone know what part of the movie its in?

  • @brennan812 When the character Theo heads for his cousin in the Ark of the Arts, passing scenes of rallying, middle class Brits enjoying the last vestiges of civilization and Theo seeing David with its leg cut off.

  • @Viahandel06 Thanks. I'll keep an eye for that scene the next time its on.

  • @brennan812 it's near the beginning when the main character drives in the car to the ark of the art and his friend to ask him for the papers. here is the scene: /watch?v=iEvRk2tL82U

  • This album cover reminds me of a French Mastiff except way scarier. I still get nightmares when I hear this song. Kinda like that though.

  • listining to this brings back alot of old memories...lol im 58

  • Why is Pink Floyd more popular than Led Zeppelin, which is in turn more popular than King Crimson ? I love all three of these bands but in my opinion Floyd comes 3rd and Crimson 1st. So why is Pink Floyd so huge in the global consciousness and why is King Crimson a mere "cult" (niche) band ?

  • @zarakhast Where'd you get the idea that Floyd is more popular than Zeppelin?

  • @scapeplan2 YouTube views mainly. I may well be mistaken. Please feel free to correct me, I won't be offended !

  • @zarakhast Yeah, where did you get that, Zeppelin is way more popular thant Floyd, not better but more popular, this is indeniable.

  • @HighSmokett You've got to be joking ? When I went to university (a long time ago, admittedly) getting stoned to Pink Floyd was virtually compulsory. Zeppelin were and still are popular for sure but without having seen any sales figures I'd guess that Pink Floyd outsell Led Zeppelin, though I may well be mistaken. Of those two I marginally prefer Zeppelin as I've said, but why oh why is such a great band as King Crimson so unpopular in comparison ?

  • @zarakhast I don't know, all the people I know are in Led Zeppelin and when I ask what about Pink Floyd, they answer "Mmh, Pink Floyd, yeah, Another brick in the wall ?" Well, I'm in a french High School so I don't know what truely is, I was speaking about what I know^^

  • @HighSmokett Anoither couple of years and you'll reach puberty. Something exciting to look forward to for you.

  • @zarakhast Ahaha. You don't have to be sarcastic or gross with me, I was just giving my opinion. By mocking my age, you prove that you are immature, big boy !

  • @zarakhast If Wikipedia is to be believed, Led Zeppelin sold about 20 million more certified units than Pink Floyd.

  • @scapeplan2 Everything hinges on this, obviously !

  • @HighSmokett how can you even compare

  • @zarakhast

i think a major reason is greg lake departed right after this album to form emerson lake and palmer

  • this album stones me....yahoo.

  • Even Elizabeth II loves the War Children...crimson...floyd...perrple...yes...fairport...too bad the trail wasn't followed too well. What was lost is simple..to imagine anything you have to open your mind not close it.

  • That gives me the creeps. That means I like it! Oh i like it sooo much!

It remindes me to my young days. Thank you!

  • "Hey gang ... pizza's here ... Jim, put on In A Gadda Da Vida ... what, we just played that? ... Shit ... how about "Like a Rolling Stone" ... You're kidding, that was on an hour ago? ... crap what do we have? ... wait, who's these guys ... you're kidding me ... never heard of them ... a flute recital? ... No fucking way ... wait, the song last ten minutes? O.K. ... make it like its the next hit so the pepperoni doesn't get cold ...

    Any FM station, 1968.

  • King Crimson...music with big " M "

I like spending my free time in the Court of their wonderful songs

  • what is this album called, i want to download it

  • @teddyiskool123

the name of the album is also called in the court of the crimson king

  • I remember buying this album in my teens and still being freaked out by the cover (18 at the time). When I played 21st Century Schizoid Man, the old man wasn't too keen on what I was listening to. I upped the ante when Lennon's "Live Peace in Toronto" was on cable and I was taping it. My sister and I couldn't control our laughter when Yoko's screams took over. Dad just didn't get it. I miss the good old days of classic rock!!

  • This is the most perfect blending of music rock & classicial giving the most grand of any trip and this music is coming alive in such groups as kamelot, & night whish, dream theater & so many others. hail to king Robert Frip!

  • king Crimson was one of the pillers to the bulding of the Prog Rock style in the late 60's and 70's. bleeding itself into band like Emerson, Lake and Palmer Ect. To bad this Style of music never caught on with kids of my generation. i know this and im 20

  • fuck everyone. this is a wondertune. Almost brings you to heaven then drops you off near hell

  • j'adore

  • This album scared the shit out of Yes when they heard it and got them to buck up and practise.

  • an awful thing to admit here, ive only just discovered this band.

This tune is one of the most amazing things ive ever heard....i just cant get enough

  • @dzhurma Better late than never, truly in this case! You are making up for lost time. I have LOVED this song since it came out in 1969! Have you listened to I Talk to the Wind or Moonchild? FYI Greg Lake has announced his tour dates for 2012. I have my tickets for the Atlanta show.

  • @dzhurma

I've just got into this band to and i'm loving it. Who the hell needs to use drugs to get high just let the music take over ahhhhhh.

  • This song gave me the shivers... So good!

  • This is prog before it was prog, King Crimson are masters!!!

  • in the court of the crimson kingggggggggg aaaahhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!! this is such a fantastic tune i could just listen to it all day and still love it

  • lmfao@gonzataker now thatz fucking funny hahahahahaha you picked a perfect time blog with that CHEERS!! i am still laughing as i type this!! i love to read responses to the tunes i play on here and these 2 have made my fighting off this terrible nasty cold, that makes me feel like my chest is caving in everytime i cough and hack!! years of constant smoking cigs, and weed, and meth and crack and freebase are starting to exact their toll on my being!! this body is slowly starting to breakdown!

  • oh hey wait right there@AchelonX how on earth can you even say something as stupid as nobody is interested in your output here to "quote" you exactly?? stay out of the arguement here let these 2 super sized pouches of caca fight alone!! if you get involved you will ruin the arguement for me and that just would not be nice at all!!! hahahaha

  • hey hey you just failed right there@zarakast! why oh why do people always use my lords name in vain!! lord please help me to be more tolerant of these absolute bumble brains!! they both need to confess and ask for your forgivness!! what happened to friendly debate yeah debate between 2 buffoons, did i spell that correctly enough?? hardy harr harr

  • wow weee theres more bloating between2 fucking meatheads, i am so lovin this, i really need a good laugh "whilest" i try to kick this dam cold!! if you 2 would just sit for a second and really look at the spectacle you are making of yourselves, it is purely hilarious to put it bluntly!! keepa goin boyz or girlz or both hahaahha

  • wow keep arguing imma lovin this hahahahhaha, see what fools can do to eachother when they do not agree on a point!! you 2 are prime examples of why this world needs an enema really badly, to wash away all you filthy worldly sensless useless pukes!!! i sometimes find myself asking god why oh why did you have to go and created this world for??? but then i stop cold and tell myself that he is the creator and imma the created and i do not have any right to question his decisions!!! keep goin hahaha

  • laughs@5468764654 you come across in my opinion as a half intelligent being, don't spoil that moment on arguing with some that has a different VIEW than you do!! see that is why we have war and famine and destruction and wasted lives and resources!! i can't explain it any simpler that to say people have different views on everything not just music!! 1 persons interpretations will always be different!! thatz when this cool word acceptance comes into play! we are suppost to be kind to eachother!!!

  • look here there are 2 factions that exist here!! 1 is music and 2 is words!! they can be together or alone and all depends on the person's choice who creates the songs that they make! it's up to the listener to interpret what the message is that'z being played! true you have to look beyond sometimes!! aren't we all blessed to have this thing called MUSIC, praise jesus PEACE

  • I just watched Children Of Men last night and when this song plays I'm like, I need to know who this is...I fall asleep forget about it and refind this bitch thanks to reddit. Fuck ya

  • You truly fail to penetrate to the heart of a piece of music if you can't get past the words, the supposed "message" etc. Just like the total idiots who think they are doing philosophy when they are not looking for the universal at all but only their prejudice, YOU fail. MISERABLY.

  • What is so hard for you to understand, given that you're such an expert on music ? Music is transcendent and universal, like the Absolute itself. It is already using symbols by using notes. "Words" are totally optional and not at all important.

  • King Crimson's best MUSIC definitely has a universal feeling to, regardless of the lyrics. The lyrics - whether good or bad (which is subjective) - make no difference at all.

  • What are "good lyrics" anyway ? There has never been a great songwriter. There have been great philosophers and poets though.

  • Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata or Shepherd's Hymn for instance : no words, MONUMENTAL music. He didn't even give these pieces of music any name : they were named by others. So to claim that lyrics are even needed at all in music is to not understand music. Even worse is to claim that words are needed and then to be a retard with words and to be a "bloiwhard coward who can't hang" - i.e. a big mouth.

  • @zarakhast Namedropping obvious works isn't helping your argument. You don't have one. I rarely listen to lyrical music. I prefer instrumental and abstract musical forms. Lyricism is something that must be done very well to seem genuine. Nothing KC ever did lyrically was genuine. Their lyrics are stupid like you and like every "rock" band you listen to. You're clearly not at a mature enough level within your exposure to music to talk about this for much longer. Choose your words more wisely.

  • @5468764654 My "argument" is that words are of a secondary significance and not really necessary to music. I used two pieces by Beethoven as examples but I could just as easily have cited just about any piece of classical (and many non-classical) music. And if lyrics are not essential to good music then you needn't knock any marks off for what in your opinion are "poor" lyrics - which is subjective in any case.

  • @zarakhast How dumb are you? Why even include lyrics if you're destroying the integrity of your work by doing so? The reason is acceptance. I judge an entire work, I don't pick and choose what makes something great. If the statue of david wore a clown's nose, it would represent something entirely different. Your "critical analysis" is denial-based. You fail.

  • @5468764654 It doesn't matter what "nose" a tune wears if it's a great tune and people aren't even looking at the nose. Music is pre-verbal. That is why people who speak different languages don't need to learn the language of music. Words are mere window dressing.

  • I PREFER their instrumental arrangements but even when they are singing I don't let the lyrics get in the way of my enjoyment of the music. You can't have much of a soul if you let the lyrics influence whether you like the music or not or make you mark it up or down. This is music, not literature or philosophy. It's also surprising that you should criticise King Crimson's lyrics whilst being hopeless with words yourself. TOOL !

  • A "blowhard coward who can't hang" = someone who talks the talk but who can't walk the walk eh ? A big mouth in other words ?

Instead of using fancy phrases to say mundane things why don't you learn how to use English properly and while you're at it learn some taste in music too ?

  • You used the word blase improperly and unintelligently and then had the cheek to call me a fool. You also ignored what I said about music : that lyrics don't matter. Lyrics are not even necessary for music. Some of the best pieces of music in the world have no words, so it's a stupid objection to criticise any piece of music for its lyrics. So how good is King Crimson's music, regardless of lyrics, compared with other non-classical music ? Answer : about as good as it gets.

  • @zarakhast

And now you've adopted my point and unknowingly, you're attempting to use it as your own. Because of this, you fail. Crimson's only real work is their instrumental work, and even then it's very good for what it is, but only for what it is. This isn't timeless music. And that sound that you think is a flute is actually a flute and clarinet, and they also use the flute preset on the mellotron for texture. You're a fucking idiot, by the way.

  • @5468764654 So what is timeless music then ? Beethoven ? And don't say Bach because Bach is SHIT.

  • @zarakhast

Your argument has truly dissolved into petty back sliding. You're make accusations of grammatical errors when your own posts clearly depict a person with the reading level of a feral child. Speak not. There's better prog than this. You have yet to hear it. You are too green. We are finished here.

  • @5468764654 Lyrics aren't even slightly important in music. It doesn't matter what kind of music it is. King Crimson's lyrics are sometimes deep, sometimes nonsensical but it really doesn't matter because the music transcends the words.

  • @5468764654 Come on you genius, what's timeless music ?

  • Listening to King Crimson is a religious experience because it infuses and intacts (not a real word apparently) to every part of the creative mind to let out a sonic roaring orgasm of thought that melts the mind into understanding true beauty and the best of what humanity is capable of, I very much so associated it similarly with Bach in that respect.

  • @ViperRob42 Great sentiments, spoken ever so eloquently. Interacts is the word we need..In interacts with our entire being. Our soul and our mind are at once connected, I did not know the brain could ejaculate...excuse while I go and blow my nose.

  • @ViperRob42

To liken this to the work of any Bach shows not that this can't compare, but that you know little to nothing about Bach. It's good that you've found something that moves you, but next time you compare two sounds that speak to you, do it in a more analytical fashion and you might realize that they're absolutely nothing alike. Me thinks we drop names too liberally. Don't lend Bach's excellence to the flattery of a rock band that sings of Fire Witches and Royal Courts.

  • @5468764654 Man, you need to calm down, all the guy is doing is making a comparison to tell himself of King Crimson's ingenious music, nothing more. I think what the world really needs is less arrogance from people who think they actually do understand the compositions of great classical musicians, even with a degree in music, you won't.

  • @AchelonX

Talk about calming down, crybaby. It's idiotic to compare this to Bach. It's idiotic to call this "ingenious" at all. How low is your bar? About as low as your Pitchfork Media comprehension of music. And Bach wasn't Classical, so you can take that one and shove it up your water-tight ass before you tell ANYBODY what they do or don't "understand." This is a prog band pretending to be smarter than they are and singing about the same blase subject matter as every other British prog act.

  • @5468764654 Hey, your Ritalin is calling, seems you two haven't spent enough time together recently, maybe you should make up for that, wanker.

  • @5468764654 Also everyone knows that Bach was baroque, but you really need to learn what the modern usage definition of "classical" is, which he fits. Regardless King Crimson isn't just another run-of-the-mill progressive band, they helped found the genre, so stop talking shit, nobody is interested in your output here.

  • @5468764654 Unfair. And "blase" was a terrible adjective to use. A person can be blase, subject matter never can be. You meant something like "hackneyed" didn't you ? Explain what you meant. This is one of the best bands of all time and you're dissing them. The lyrics don't even matter in music anyway : the MUSIC matters. So what do you think of the music ?

  • @zarakhast Apologies, "blase" usually describes an attitude : "fatigued with and so indifferent to pleasure". So you might become blase at winning the election if you have been in power for too long. But "subject matter" can never be blase. Sorry to be pedantic but you did make a pretty objectionable point and didn't bother to back it up.

  • @zarakhast

    A) This is AchelonX talking, which is pathetic. That was transparent within the first sentence. Also, the word blase is applied directly to subject matter. You're a complete fool.

blasé (comparative more blasé, superlative most blasé)

1.Unimpressed with something because of over-familiarity.

Their lyrics and subject matter are blase and cliche. They reherse the same tired subject matter of the popular psych-prog and new age imagery of the time. They were a good band, not great

  • @5468764654 The lyrics can't be blase though can they you total tool ? The lyrics are incapable of feeling and therefore are incapable of being indifferent. Learn to use words properly.

  • @zarakhast

"The lyrics are incapable of feeling and therefore are incapable of being indifferent" And then you finish with "LEARN TO USE WORDS PROPERLY." The IRONY here is BRUTAL. You should learn that lyricism is considered one of the most direct forms expression within the human experience. The lyrics [fail at] conveying subject and experience directly. To call lyricism indifferent in regard to expression proves that you're making it up as you go along. Butthurt fanboy.

  • @zarakhast

If you're so concerned with the musical element that you're willing to employ suspension of disbelief by disregarding the awful lyrical content, then you justify everyone's bad taste because they don't consider the entire picture when judging a work. If KC was unconcerned with acceptance, they'd have been instrumental. If you cared about musicality, you would be far more concerned with instrumental music and composition than you probably are. You're a blowhard coward who can't hang.

  • @5468764654 A good deal of their stuff is instrumental. The lyrics aren't a major part of their art as a whole. Listen to the the end of this tune for instance and also the end I Talk To The Wind : the flute (or whatever it is) is far more important than any of the words which have gone before.

  • @5468764654 A "blowhard coward who can't hang" ? Jesus Christ can you use ANY fucking words properly ?

  • @5468764654 saying that they sing about the same subject matter as every other british prog act only shows YOUR ignorance. Lyrics like this aren't supposed to tell a story or deliver a hidden message, they're done to help accentuate the emotion that the music is trying to convey. For instance, I am the walrus. The lyrics meant absolutely nothing but their sole purpose was to evoke images in ones mind to create the full experience of the song. go be an arrogant prick somewhere else

  • Orgasmic on the ears.

  • I'm guessing this song inspired the crimson king in stephen king's the dark tower series?

  • @darkjesterWoW I actually you are right about that

  • Kenny vs Spenny?

  • Thank You Robert Moog, The Forgotten Genius.

  • the birth of progressive rock people. the very birth of one of the best rock genres ever created.

  • This album is a fucking masterpice.

  • Thank you Children of Men. What an amazing film, paired with an equally, if not more amazing song.

  • @kylerose1990

that film got me here too! <3

  • @kylerose1990 - that was how I reconnected with this song - hadn't heard it since I was a child, and then discovered it from the film - was a bit confused as it was playing it going to Battersea Power Station which is associated with Pink Floyd. Wasn't quite sure why they did that!

  • @purplevolcano Haha, well I am fifteen and have never even heard of this song. Now, I can't stop listening to it.

  • top off all

  • I've been a fan of King Crimson since 1984. This is REAL music! Justin Beiber must die!

  • @lmw289 Such idiotous words for someone of such age.

I never hate on others' music, for I would hate it if everyone would listen to the sam music as I do.

  • Thumbs Up If Children Of Men Brought You Here!!!!!!

  • How in the fucking hell had I been unaware of such music existing for the last 18 years ? Now I'm gonna get high in the forest with King Crimson.

  • @1valois1: I know what you mean. I first heard this when I was at Naval college back in '79; it was an epiphany. I'm still a huge Crimson fan. Listen to Red and Three of a Perfect Pair to name a few.

  • does anyone even play calliope anymore?

  • Genesis the best!

  • The people that listen to Xfactor ,Rihanna, lady Gargoyle etc. This is what music was created for.I feel very sad about where todays music is going..... or is it gone already?.....

  • @BON3SHAK3R

let the man listen to twenty-first century,

then he can make his conclusion on how "shit" a drummer

    he is......

  • I pity the young people who aren't exposed to this.

  • This band reminds me of my childhood, growing up on planet Neptune. What memories!

  • or that moon of jupiter, what was it?.....

  • @gdub999tube

I LOVE it. You made me laugh. But you are right - these guys were from somewhere else. Cheers.

  • A fine selection off an amazing recording. Much appreciated as to the sharing!

  • reminds me a bit of Pink Floyd

  • @carreraGT92 that's cause it's prog rock aswell

  • @carreraGT92 I agree but I still prefer Pink Floyd, Can't wait to see Roger Waters!

  • Powerful, atmospheric, when i hear it I just want to fly..........

  • Awesome masterpiece In The Court Of The Crimson King...!!! and the cover that do Saxon from England (Classic Heavy Metal band from 70's too) is very great the cover that they make of this song from King Crimson...!!! I love this masterpiece!!!!

  • Right mate I could only stomach around 6 minutes and had to stop it at 6mins 12 seconds as the drummer has either gone cold turkey, deaf or trippy, listen from 6:06 onwards...............so so poor lol

  • GOOD GOOD !!!! MERCI SOUVENIRS !!!!

  • Looks to me like there is one King Shithead here!

  • Wow...just wow, so glad I've come across this band.

  • Did K, listened to this.... wake up 7 hours later.

  • sounds like exit music by radiohead

  • @kancer82 Except it's from 1969....

  • fucking asshole who thumbed this down. POS

  • Comment removed

  • @BON3SHAK3R When you produce your first genre defining concept album, call me. Until then, carry on sitting at the back of the class with your 3 chord, 3 minute 4/4 verse-chorus songs.

  • @DIGIxPUNKx1996 ha class comment mate, I have a diverse range of music tastes and I am more than qualified to make a well rounded statement on King Crimson jangling the bells on their shoes whilst skipping around singing about court jesters and lyrical story telling shite. Give me Radiohead any day and I am a happy man as lyrically and musically they are superb :P

  • @BON3SHAK3R I like all that pretentious bollocks. :) I like Radiohead, I like Green Day, I like the Kinks, I like the Beatles, I like the Sex Pistols too, but King Crimson is just a different breed. I'd like to say you have crappy taste in music, but you obviously don't. (But I will say that Bad News > Spinal Tap.)

  • @DIGIxPUNKx1996 ok ok lolol...............in all honesty I only listened to about 16 bars of the song mate so yes I cant give a well rounded criticism of their music as for Spinal Tap I love the film as they are so bad and take the piss which is hilarious. Maybe I should listen to more of King Crimson and get back to you on what I think ;)
