  • Bravissimo Furlanetto! È davvero il migliore Figaro!!!

  • Now, THIS is my very favourite version of this song!

His Figaro looks/sounds angry and disappointed, but he's also mocking men and women here. It shows that every serious/tragical situation has also a bright side (how ever small it may be) - and vice-versa (but I've seen less cases). Mozart understood all this and he always told us!

Great nuances of characterisation, you're right BethDiane!

  • Ahhh, I love this one. As much as I love Figaro's other two arias, this one is way underrated and too often overlooked in my opinion.

  • Can't FREAKING wait to see him live in December. :3

  • I just adore him in this role.

  • Excellent! Great and very amusing Figaro!

  • Great voice and acting!

  • They really need to release this production on DVD; it's the best! Furlanetto is the only Figaro I've seen who manages to wring such a variety of nuance out of this aria while still making it the cry of a giant two-year-old throwing a temper tantrum--it gives me a fit of the giggles every time I see it!

  • I can't get over how GOOD his high notes are for a bass.

  • The voice reminds me somehow of Siepi's, who is best known for his Don Giovanni but also played Figaro. But the temperament is quite different.

  • And they even look a little bit alike!

  • No, he's not. Figaro is supposed to be much deeper and this just what Ferruccio Furlanetto is.

Apart from this, if you don't like Furlanetto's singing, that's fine by me.

Battling about who has/had the prettier voice (Furlanetto or Prey) is futile, because Furlanetto is basso and Prey was baritono.

  • I think anybody who has the courage to say that Furlanetto stinks, no matter which role he´s playing, is deaf or crazy! :P

  • He really makes me smile doing this.

    La debole Ragion!!!

  • could someone please post the scene before gente gente, all'armi all'armi and the final scenes?

  • Oh, Figaro.

    This is excellent!

  • I can't really accept Furlanetto as a comic heroe---his voice seems more suited to a villain, or the Bad Guy's Helper (Leporello, Don Basilio from Il Barbiere, etc). That's nothing wrong with him; his voice is godlike, it's just my personal preference. That said, his acting and timing is impeccable. Here he's an angry, bitter, but completely buffoonish Figaro, which is exactly what this aria calls for. He should be as well known for his acting as his opera.

  • Just Wonderful!

  • Fantastic! It's so easy to take this aria too seriously. He manages a perfect mixture of spitting rage and deep hurt, sparking the character's rather impulsive judgements and keeping him from looking like a jerk (also easy to do). His voice is gorgeous, as usual, his acting just wonderful--I do believe he's the only person who has ever made me believe in this aria.

  • Yes, I think so, too.

I love this aria as one of my favourites and I've been sorely disappointed with many other interpretations, so I always go back to this one if I want to see it performed just the way I think it should be.

  • No kidding. I feel the same way about his "Madamina." I love this. Could you put up his first scene with Susanna? The duets?

  • I think Youtube lost my first reply. Anyway, I agree, he's perfect. I love it. Could you perhaps put up the first scene with him and Susanna? The two duets?

  • There's a little problem with the beginning of act one but I'm really determined and do hope I can solve it.
