Nice Video. Being a Locomotive Engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railway I have a few comments forthe guy in the cab. First of all you RUN a train you do not DRIVE a train. The springs in the brake cylinders are used to help release the brakes. The air is used to stop the train. I really liked the comment of "they run train s that are five miles long" . This guy is an idiot. Any way good video. The last time this unit was this clean (before it was repainted) was when it was new.
@planeboy173 CP 9777 and 9782 "played" AWVR #777. #767 was played by CP units 9758 and 9751. 9777 is the only one of the four that had the caution striping removed from the snow plough, as far as I know.
@supergodzilla33 767 is certainly still around, it was played by CP Nos. 9758 and 9751. 9758 rolled through my town yesterday, and it still sports the yellow caution striping on the snowplough from it's roll in Unstoppable as AWVR #767. On a side note, AWVR #777 was also played by CP 9782.
CP #9777 herself, or as she'll soon be known to the world, AWVR #777, the star of 'Unstoppable' - I helped assemble a standee for the movie today at the cinema where I work, and the giant image of this loco emblazoned on it was really striking to UK eyes.
I was under the impression though that CP retained the jaunty yellow/black striped snowploughs that the production crew had painted on these units - 9777 clearly is back in black, so is it just some of the others? If so, then it's a shame.
A train will not be 5-10 miles long........and does not have 100,000 tons. It does not take the same amount of energy to move 100 cars, that it does 20 cars...lol...these guys need to get thier facts straigtened out.
@trainman2816 Even a consist of UP Centennials (which are still considered the most powerful diesels ever built) couldn't pull a 10 mile long train, assuming the knuckles don't shatter. Given an average 50' car, that train would be in the range of 1,050 cars long, and would weigh more than 35,000 tons, assuming all 1,050 cars were empty lightweight boxcars. And maybe it burns the same amount of FUEL (on a per second basis) to pull 100 cars as opposed to 20, but you won't get going as fast. :-P
airRail76 You do know that you are in the cab of a MOVIE STAR. This locomotive is the lead engine in the upcoming movie "Unstoppable". It was repainted for the movie and then repainted back to its original paint scheme, that's why the paint on the engine is so bright is was repainted like 5 months before you shot this video. The movie trailer is out so watch it to see what this "BAD BOY" has done.
This unit was one of the 777's in unstopable!! I saw it while I was fishing it was back in cp paint
