GUYS the red n yellow lock is not true at all! Yellow = pilot seat, Red = gunner! Please I believed what he said as well. Have been flying ALOT and got locked alot of times with the soflam. Never got a red lock as pilot. ALWAYS have a red lock when I am in the gunner seat.

Use Canister Shells, Smoke, and Reactive Armor on your tanks. The canister shells do a lot of damage to helicopters, jeeps, and infantry. And because they fire like a giant shotgun, it's really easy to kill off all helicopters with it.

@jcnaples7 If you use the ECM then any heat seeking missiles fired won't be spoofed by the ECM, you'll need to always be deploying it before they fire

@69DangerousD Not necessarily true. If you are far enough away, the chopper's ECM will have time to throw heat seekers off your tail. SOFLAM guided munitions will still hit if they are already fired. I usually pop ECM and run away from where I think the missiles are coming, then hear them hit the ground right below me. Satisfying.

I have to say that IF you are used to play flight COMBAT-SIMULATORS then it is easy to fly with all the vehicles. Also the tactics come in use in many ways. For me its easy because I'm on Xbox 360 but thinking about picking the game up too for PC

Another not bad idea is to use Laser Designator at the nose of your chopper. It works same way as SOFLAM or that Laser Designator on Main Battle Tanks. BUT it will lock on AUTOMATICALLY and will work for everyone on battlefield. So 4 Stingers, Iglas, Javelins and Guided SHell (M B Tank) AND ALSO for Heat Seakers and Guided Missiles (Jets & Helis). Best thing is when Your in attack heli with gunner who has G Missiles and when you lock-on hostile choppa he can fire his Air2Land missile too ^^

two things i do when i fly, but only can be done on caspian border, is i stay near the trees, if you cut down trees to make paths you can just dip out through that path and lose a lock pretty easily. a already made path is the river, follow it out and you should be good. the other is when your going for a strafe run, instead of going straight foward, cut it to the left/right before you fly over your enemy and rotate around your target enough for 2 full clips of the rockets and then dip out

Now, i'd just like to say one thing. When being locked by SOFLAM or simply AA missiles, its always yellow. There is no real way to know which it is until you pop the countermeasures.

I like the ECM jammer just because then I can tell my gunner that if they get a lock then to pop flares. It is better than both having flares and not knowing exactly when which person should pop flares. I got shot down a few times because we both wasted our flares on the same rocket or because neither of us used flares when we thought the other would.

@mailo1492 the vehicle has to be laser designated and then you can lock on to any vehicle and it will always hit, flares have no effect if the target is laser designated. thats why he mentioned the SOFLAM, which is a machine to laser designate. its in the recon class

Great vid, although You should zoom out your minimap when flying as a pilot.

Also depending on the map / gametype, you might want to have Guided Rockets as pilot instead of stealth. Guided rockets + TV missile rapes heli vs heli battles and can kill MAA from far away.

if a tank is using guided shell and a soflam / CTV station there isn't much you can do if the rocket is coming your way. Its also very easy for a jet to take a chopper

Choppers are OP as fuck in Bf3 man.  Igla/stinger is useless. Tunguska/LAV the only think that can sort of take out a a chopper. Sort of.

Guided missles are good for noobs only. A good pilot can negate those. The main cannon takes ages so disable or kill the choppers.

@wistfane I agree. Although I play on console, so I don't have the latest updates and it might be different on pc, but air support is way too hard to take down now. Like you said, stinger/igla is useless. Before the buff, it was balanced, but now that choppers/jets need two hits just to disable them, it's retarded. Even the AA gun at a deployment takes ages. You can hold down the trigger and get all hitmarkers until the gun overheats, and still all you get is a disable.
