  • Kind of like We Are The World if it were written by corporate shills and sung by people with no discernable vocal talent. $HAME ON YOU...AB¢!

  • I would have SPRINTED to the exit if Toni Tenille called out my name!

  • So many are gone now.

  • Where's Ernie Anderson? The voice of ABC.

  • Who could blame John Davidson for ' hiding out there ' ? Sylvester Stallone should have punched every last one of them - including Adam Rich - for ruining the theme song for Rocky.

CBS and NBC must have gotten together and produced this pile of crap for ABC.

A-B-See me turn the channel now. A-B-See me leave, I'm going now.

  • What an awesome clip. Thanks for sharing !!!

  • holy crap, thats the biggest festival of cheesiness ive ever seen..

  • If they did this today there would be 10 commercial breaks and no one would be over 25years old onstage.

    Miss the golden days

  • @CanadaguyRudey Which is sad. :-(

  • How come I can't come up?

  • ABC is just not the same without David Doyle.

  • There's the cast of The Love Boat w/ Fred Grandy and Bernie Kopell, the cast of Barney Miller (shortly before Jack Soo died a year and half later), Gabe Kaplan of WBK, Paul Lynde, Adam Rich, Dick Clark.

Even though this paled in comparison to CBS's anniversaries, ABC had that whole studio and set like one big bisco ball room and had quite a catchy tune here.

  • ABC was at this point considered a lightweight network. The TV "royalty" were all over at CBS. In fact this program was a poor imitation of the 50th anniversary celebration CBS produced in the same year. Meanwhile, NBC was just lost and last.

  • The news department went under massive changes in 1978

    1) Roone Arledge was hired away from the sports division

    2) A brand-new newscast was created, changing the name from "ABC Evening News" to "World News Tonight"

    3) along with that came the return of Peter Jennings to the anchor desk

    4) the famous four-note musical logo was born, and it was the answer to the NBC chimes; the four-note music logo still runs to this day.

  • TV was so awesome back then. i miss the late 70's. great time in broadcasting.

  • Jack Soo is also there... probably one of the last appearances he made on TV. Never saw a larger group of self conscious celebs in the same area.

  • Toni Tennille was chose to lead this song...She is TRULY one of the BEST Singers in the world....

  • is it jus tme or did Tom Bosley look COOL in his 70's clothing?

  • Ms.Duart is now performing in a touring series of stage shows

with Mr.Tim Conway and one of my comedic heroes..Mr.Chuck

    McCann.

  • I have no doubt that ABC was "Flyin' High". Redd Foxx was there. It was officially a party.

  • a nightmare I would prefer not to have had.

  • I think Yankee Radio play by play guy John Sterling is seen here too

  • Huh. And I always thought there would be a singularity if Tom Bosley ever stood next to David Doyle.

  • I recognized so-ooo many faces I couldn't count them all! That was fun to watch :)

  • I miss that hairstyle that msTenille use to sport.

  • so...where's Stallone?

  • This is right before the tidal wave comes and turns the set upside down, right???

  • @mrtwang32 LOL!

  • Ah the days when our stars got dressed up in tuxedos and gowns for tv award shows instead of wearing faded jeans with holes, wrinkled t-shirts untucked, and a day's growth on their faces. Will those days EVER come back?

  • No, it wont. Unfortunately, the entertainment business devolved to the lowest common denominator. Red Skelton was as family friendly as it gets, but he saw it coming because he has a raunchy Vaudeville show but realized that TV was entering people's homes where respect was necessary. No one since has seen that. There's just more money in pandering than in performing so trash gets hired to make trash.

  • Dear Harris, I have to agree with you 100%! There is no way that CBS TV's 50th or even CBS TV's 75th or NBC TV's 50th,60th or their 75th Anniversary tv tributes will match this expression of true harmony and fun! Even this tune is better than"Like A member Of The Family!".

  • The great celebrities including Henry Winkler, Tom Bosley, Charo, Hal Linden, Chuck Connors, Ted Lange, Gabe Kaplan, Bruce Jenner, Paul Lynde, Jack Klugman, Redd Foxx, Howard Cosell, Alan King, Dick Clark, Adam Rich, and many others were in this ABC 25th Anniversary celebration.

  • One of John Wayne's last tv apperances

  • This is where Adam Rich guzzled his first mixed drink... then it all went down hill.

  • This paled in comparison to the CBS 50th anniversary program

  • were there The Carpenters here?

  • would love to see the whole show

  • Someone at this site...states that ABC TV will have a great

75th Anniversary tv tribute? The way that the network is

runned by the WD company right now? Don't you believe it!

  • whenever someone invents a time machine so i can go back to 1978 to see this in-person, please let me know!!!!

  • looks like they got all the stars sufficiently liquor-ed up for this one

  • juan epstein? from Welcome back kotter? AYKM?

  • Aint that the theme from Saturday Night Fever???? No I think it was Star Wars......lol

  • "Gonna Fly Now", the theme from Rocky.

  • Yes CEASER ROMERO !!!!!!! The age of true actors is gone sad to say

  • Hell yes Brought a tear of memories

  • At what point does the stage collapse?

  • WOW>>

I taped this off the TV back in 1978 (audio only). Awesome memories.

  • wow! this was a great time in TV. I loved all these actors back when I was a kiddie! Thanks for posting!

  • BRUCE JENNER! lol

  • This is something that you'll never see on

tv ever again. True harmony and a famila feeling between

performers and personalities past and present on

    a network tv tribute.

  • This video is very interesting.Thank you for putting this on you tube....RiflemanRay
