Who could blame John Davidson for ' hiding out there ' ? Sylvester Stallone should have punched every last one of them - including Adam Rich - for ruining the theme song for Rocky.
CBS and NBC must have gotten together and produced this pile of crap for ABC.
A-B-See me turn the channel now. A-B-See me leave, I'm going now.
@ 4:29, is that a young Todd Bridges bouncin' up & down in the back? Looks like maybe the first year of Diff'rent Strokes. And NO I'm not referring to Lawrence Hilton Jacobs who you see at 4:31 w/the big ass afro. Look before that, in the back.
There's the cast of The Love Boat w/ Fred Grandy and Bernie Kopell, the cast of Barney Miller (shortly before Jack Soo died a year and half later), Gabe Kaplan of WBK, Paul Lynde, Adam Rich, Dick Clark.
Even though this paled in comparison to CBS's anniversaries, ABC had that whole studio and set like one big bisco ball room and had quite a catchy tune here.
ABC was at this point considered a lightweight network. The TV "royalty" were all over at CBS. In fact this program was a poor imitation of the 50th anniversary celebration CBS produced in the same year. Meanwhile, NBC was just lost and last.
Ah the days when our stars got dressed up in tuxedos and gowns for tv award shows instead of wearing faded jeans with holes, wrinkled t-shirts untucked, and a day's growth on their faces. Will those days EVER come back?
No, it wont. Unfortunately, the entertainment business devolved to the lowest common denominator. Red Skelton was as family friendly as it gets, but he saw it coming because he has a raunchy Vaudeville show but realized that TV was entering people's homes where respect was necessary. No one since has seen that. There's just more money in pandering than in performing so trash gets hired to make trash.
Dear Harris, I have to agree with you 100%! There is no way that CBS TV's 50th or even CBS TV's 75th or NBC TV's 50th,60th or their 75th Anniversary tv tributes will match this expression of true harmony and fun! Even this tune is better than"Like A member Of The Family!".
The great celebrities including Henry Winkler, Tom Bosley, Charo, Hal Linden, Chuck Connors, Ted Lange, Gabe Kaplan, Bruce Jenner, Paul Lynde, Jack Klugman, Redd Foxx, Howard Cosell, Alan King, Dick Clark, Adam Rich, and many others were in this ABC 25th Anniversary celebration.
Kind of like We Are The World if it were written by corporate shills and sung by people with no discernable vocal talent. $HAME ON YOU...AB¢!

If they did this today there would be 10 commercial breaks and no one would be over 25years old onstage.

The news department went under massive changes in 1978
1) Roone Arledge was hired away from the sports division
2) A brand-new newscast was created, changing the name from "ABC Evening News" to "World News Tonight"
3) along with that came the return of Peter Jennings to the anchor desk
4) the famous four-note musical logo was born, and it was the answer to the NBC chimes; the four-note music logo still runs to this day.

Jack Soo is also there... probably one of the last appearances he made on TV. Never saw a larger group of self conscious celebs in the same area.

I have no doubt that ABC was "Flyin' High". Redd Foxx was there. It was officially a party.

performers and personalities past and present on
