This kind of attitude degrades children's movies, programs and books to mindless sunshine and rainbow filled rubbish. If a movie makes a child think and feel something that maybe they're not quite comfortable with yet then it makes them grow in a good way. Movies and stories like that are supposed to prepare them for life so that it doesn't hit them upside the head when they come face to it real life. Children are more intelligent and emotionally complicated than these ladies seem to think.
Disney films have underlying symbolisms but as a child I grew up with Freddy, Jason and the Hellraiser series it had no affect on me. I believe if you can't differentiate between reality and fiction then you're a weak human.
Umm... Joy, your show is on ABC - which is owned by Disney. So yeah, maybe you need to tone it down before they fire you. XD
There's nothing wrong with showing kids emotional moments in films - makes it SO much easier later on. Horror movies is for the parents to decide, but frickin' Bambi - come on... there's nothing wrong with Bambi aside from it being really sad.
Bambi wasn't annoying hanging Thumper! I LUV Thumper! He was so cute! They were all cute when they're young!! I enjoyed the movie more when they're young! I find it gets boring when they all grow up and have a love interest!! I always find the love interest ruins the film! As for the bird getting shot IT WASN'T FUNNY!!!! Thats just mean laughing at a scene when an animal gets killed!
Good God!!!! REDICULOUS! I loved Bambi... For the very reason that the little dear became a man after his mother died, God rest her soul, and didn't remain that annoying twirp hanging out with that friggin rabbit with tourettes. As an added bonus, when the bird got shot I laughed my ass off.
i was like 3 when i first saw babmi and i was not traumatized but i was very sad and didn't want to see the movie as much as the other disney films because it was too sad
as a mother who is dying.. I think Bambi, can be a very fearful movie to show a child. The fact is sometimes Moms die.. Sometimes Moms dont get to be there to see your children grow old.. WITH THAT SAID, I think its should be a parents choice.. Noone knows a child like his/her parents. Now my kids watch Diseny movies all the time. I just make sure I dont show them just a handful of them. Lion King being another one. :o)..
these people need to grow up! yes bambi was sad, but sad things happen your meant to learn to deal with it otherwise ull grow up with no real confidence or strength!!
plus disney movies alaways have very good moral lessons
Someone has to load the whole clip of this show. It's a very important topic and just to hear the middle of the discussion is just stupid. They should load it all it's a very important topic!
The video is so short because I only loaded the portion of the segment I needed to use during a class presentation. But, the Disney topic is pretty much covered in what you see in this clip. The original topic was Seasame Street, and Mario and Joy brought up Disney. Shortly after Mario talks about Cinderella, Whoopi announced a commercial break.
Oh my GOD!Let's put all the children in this world in a plastic bubble so they can't get hurt at all!oh!Curse me if i say "Fuck" in front of a little kid!
This society is becoming so politically correct...in a sickening way! That's why so many perversions become more common these days!We tend to deny our natures, the good & the bad, such as the death of a loved one(in Bambi);or cursing!
How will kids learn to protect, think for themselves or be strong when necessary?
Pinnoccio was grossly unsuitable for kids. The part where the boys screams as he turns into a donkey scared the shit out of me as an adult, and the part where the talking donkeys are sold off is just plain upsetting. Are they trying to tell the kids that the penalty for skipping school and smoking cigars is that you'll be sold into slavery?
don't read so much into every detail because as a child your aren't reading a movie the way an adult is.. i never thought skipping school meant you became a slave.. i gathered that bad people will put you in bad situations if you don't follow your conscience.. no different from those "stay alert, stay safe" commercials which are also made for children

Disney animated movies can be very upsetting for young viewers. My sister and her daughter (who now has children of her own) do not expose their children to the 'trauma' a Disney movie can cause a sensitive child. I love the 'cute' scenes in Bambi but still remember how upset I was when Bambi's mother was killed. The thought of losing their mother is terrifying to children. Disney movies should contain a warning "May be unsuitable for young viewers".
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't even know what to say! A child should not be traumatized by the death of Bambi's mother.....they should be learning that people and ANIMALS die! Yes, EVEN DEER!!!! If parents are so worried, they should have the "death talk" before they watch the movie, DUH!!! Nitwits!
You may think that a child should not be traumatized by the death of Bambi's mother but the fact remains that children ARE traumatized when they see a beautiful deer running for its life, then being shot and killed, leaving behind a fawn that is too young to take care of itself. It is not normal for a child to be exposed to the kind of terror they are exposed to in "Bambi". It's nothing to laugh at and name calling is juvenile. In the future, when you don't know what to say, don't say it!
I know exactly what I mean to say. I'm sorry if children are terrorized by the death of a beautiful cartoon deer, but it is the PARENT'S job to prepare their children for this. This movie teaches a lesson....I understand if a child is saddened by the death, especially if their parents didn't prepare them for it. But it's not the movie's fault! It's the parent not doing his/her job. Nincompoops!
YES!!! YES!!! MORE YES!!!!! It's just like preparing to talk about sex. What the hell is so wrong in talking about what makes the world go round.
Though I got to admit, not Bambi but the Lion King, Mufasa's death, first time I saw the movie was the last time I watched his death scene. To this day I fast forward over it every time and I'm 21!!! LOL!!!!!
I used this clip as part of a presentation in a Disney class in college. I only recorded/uploaded enough video to make my point during my presentation.
i'm less upset about the bambi thing and cinderella thing, than i am at the fact that if you watch some of the newer disney movies as an adult, u notice a lot of innopropriate humor, and i've even seen some w/ curses

There's been a lot of gay stereotypes in Disney movies. Ursula was a dyke; Scar, Jafar, the evil Priest from The Huntchback of Notre Dame, Prince John, and Gaston were all gay male stereotypes.
Disney might as well make an animated film starring The Village People.
Ive never seen any dykes that have that much lipstick, eyeshadow, or nail polish. I think you need to rethink that. They based her off of John Waters muse, Divine and miss Joan Colins.
How do you know Ursula was a dyke? I don't remember the scene where she was having sex with other Octopus women, does anyone else!? Maybe YOU have your own stereotypes in your own mind you are forcing upon these characters......
you don't think she looked like a dyke? With that hoarse voice and the mousy grey hair? Disney witches went from scrawny croans in SM costumes (sleeping beauty) to broad-shouldered and bovine. Where did they get the idea?
What does a "Dyke" look like? I know a few "dkyes" that are skinny, blonde, and beautiful. And I also know a few straight woman who have broad shoulders and mousy great hair (My grandma)....although she's insane like Ursula. LoL about the "SM costumes" though....Malificent was my favorite witch ever!

If my child was traumatized by frickin' BAMBI then I'd have to trade him in for a good breed of puppy.

Ugh. Its a beautiful scene, they should get over it.
I wasn't traumatized when I watched Bambi as a child.
This is why I don't watch The View.
All we do is watch adults bicker over stupid issues.
