However, the reality is that there are many types of people in this world that are oppressed for countless reasons. In this specific case of your video singling out "gay pride", I feel that it is empowering to that demographic, enabling others who wouldn't normally come out, to come out and be open about it. If the norm is being hetero and bullying the gays, if you were gay would you want to come out/be proud?

The ultimate point of your video is a good one: No-one should be oppressed. On the other hand, Gay Pride festivities are fun events that people enjoy. It, also, gives the community a chance to come together and show the world just how many gay people, and different types of gay people, there really are out there.

If gay sex were considered universally normal, like it should be, then gay pride wouldn't be necessary. @alexmanian I disagree on the 'necessary as a means of education' part, because what gay pride does is put too much emphasis on one's sexual orientation when really it shouldn't be a big deal. You don't need gay pride to educate people about homosexuality, if anything it's counter productive. I have met many gay men and women who become embarrassed when the subject of gay pride comes up. People just want normal lives without their sexual practices being an issue.

I see the point you make in this video, and I can probably even agree with some of it. However, the reality is that there are many types of people in this world that are oppressed for countless reasons. In this specific case of your video singling out "gay pride", I feel that it is empowering to that demographic, enabling others who wouldn't normally come out, to come out and be open about it. You don't need gay pride to educate people about homosexuality, if anything it's counter productive. I have met many gay men and women who become embarrassed when the subject of gay pride comes up. People just want normal lives without their sexual practices being an issue.

When I look at gay pride parades, I see a lot of propagation of gay stereotypes, because from the looks of it, people believe to show your pride is to wear rainbow, dance around in speedos or be utterly flamboyant and sexual. However, respect is earned by being respectful and respectable. But at gay pride parades, people dress effeminately and lewdly. How is that respectable? Gays will earn respect and acceptance by showing that they are normal, everyday people.

The test of intelligence is to have conflicting ideas and still maintain ones sanity.
History gives us every reason to show up and be present at gay pride events. Modernity suggests that it will change. Hate, just take gay out of it. The language is verbose and too obvious. Gay pride survives because in our little capitalist system it has a perfect slot!
