  • love those shades.

  • props

  • Manga par at

  • Howdy...Amazing Footage

  • Everest

  • Do you think I could climb berets with a fear of heights? Stupid question

  • Any of you tech people, help me out here will you? I'm having alot of problems with youtube and other platforms {some platforms I have no problem with} where the video is stopping every 15 seconds {and I get that circle going round and round} then it starts up again and then it stops. This has happened a little in the past but it is bad now. This is even at 360p. My speeds seem to be alright. I still have internet explorer 8. Is that the problem? I have the 10.3 version of flash which is recent?

  • @kentucy9999 youtube sucks now

  • nich mal baumgrenze ,tja die touristen

  • omg

  • is that outer space?

  • watch?v=GJZxG_k4VfM

for all you K2 enthusiasts, bring the climb home!

  • missed the chance to be the part of russian winter expedition on k2-- 2011...:-(

  • imdb search "nanga parbat"

  • enjoy the thrills on k2

  • After the whole video..... Howdy!

  • no room for errors. just saw one documentary today about climbers that didn't succeed. that was really sad and distracting. anyway these views that you have captured are absolutely breathtaking...

  • One of the best vidéo i have ever seen

  • 00:31 FUCKING AWESOME

  • wait, how did you manage to ski something so steep? props mannnnn

  • the only word i found : RESPECT!!!

  • Comment removed

  • And, all things considered, EXTREMELY lucky. Since you, to my knowledge, two other people have come to K2 with the intention to ski it, and BOTH died.

  • I read on wikipedia you SKIED DOWN THIS THING!?!?!?!?!

You are officially a total badass.

  • What is the camea u r using?

  • Have you made a summit attempt since this? This is really mind-boggling footage, gives a sense of scale that isn't present in most of these vids!

  • "Climbers wait for ropes to be fixed on the traverse." It should say customers on oxygene wait for ropes to be fixed on the traverse.... What kind of climbers you are if you need the fixed ropes to be installed for you? Respect for climbing K2, but not much respect for style...

  • @alfaender

There is something called as being in part of the team. Not everyone does everything in a team. You don't have to do everything by yourself. That's why you do stuff as a team!!

  • your camera is awesome!!!!

  • Even after climbing Mt. Everest, i still wouldn't Clim K2. Much More difficult then Everest

  • @TheAFguy247 Congrats, when did you do it? and how old are you? (20-30, 30-40)

  • @StonesTHATdontROLL or older of course

  • *offtopic

So fantasy ridge - I hope to see that one day being climbed.

I should have a go at it *endofdaydream

If you ever get to do that, stay safe and take pictures ;-)

  • skie is becoming kind of black. spooky.

  • @DWatson

Is this black sky above the ice ridge because of the reflection,..a cam issue or is it actually so dark in a vertical sight? the horizon is normal, just like the view thorugh a jet airliners window...but i wonder if this first sight above the ice ridge is actually this dark. if it is...it is really kind of spooky~

  • @akurat73 He is very high up in the atmosphere there so the sky gets darker and darker because you are closer to space. On Kilimanjaro, during the night at camp 4 I looked up and it was obviously dark, but there were so many stars I could not believe my eyes. That's because we were much higher up.

  • @akurat73 Most likely it is the sensor issue because most modern cameras, as good as they are, still have a limited dynamic range. Most of the frame is filled by brilliantly white snow covered ridge that is much brighter than everything else. Thus the camera is not able to resolve the sky.

  • orgasmic

  • Wow

  • Awesome video, thanks.

  • I used to never even consider the thought of climbing mountains. But then I moved from Minnesota to Washington. I see Mountains all the time and now I just want to climb them. I'm not sure if I'll ever put myself up in the bottleneck on K2 though. Place looks and sounds crazy dangerous. Props for whipping out the camera up there man.

  • Watson,I want to ask from curiosity how did the sky looked at that height?:)

  • 1:04 from tom clansys HAWX

  • why the sky is black?

  • Wow - great clip Watson! Did you make it to the summit?

  • that view is just unbelievable. so many peaks!!

  • Nice clip, but man, I'd wanna moving as fast as possible under 'that' serac.

  • rogan

  • This is one of my favourite videos on youtube at the moment. Gives you a glimpse into the amazing World of high altitude extreme mountaineering. Sensational.

  • Comment removed

  • GREAT VIDEO!

  • So many brave people have died on K2 especially the infamous bottleneck

  • @CT9AEII even amputees have climbed everest.

  • @CT9AEII Rienhold Messner has climed more than anybody without oxygen.

  • he died

  • @CT9AEII hmm. I thought Annapurna has the highest fatality rate of all the eight-thousanders. There have been only 153 ascents of Annapurna and 58 of them resulted in death. Compared to K2 w/ 300 ascents and 66 deaths

  • @SnowPoke

It's not Annapurna but Kanchenjunga, situated at India-Nepal border which has highest mortality rate. It is third in altitude after Everest and K2 and sometimes also referred as K3.

  • @MrNavi88 This is K-2. Do your research.

  • @LionTipu Its neither K-2 nor Kanchenjenga. The most dangerous mountain with highest fatality rate is Annapurna. You can easily find on internet by typing most dangerous mountain to climb or mountain with highest mortality rate.

  • @MrNavi88 Actually, Broad Peak (another 8000'er also in the Karakoram) is known as K3. The K signifies the Karakoram range that the mountains are found in. Kangchenjunga is not in that range.

  • @SnowPoke

You are right. The highest mortality rate is on Annapurna. I was wrong in my earlier message and got confused between Annapurna and Kanchenjunga. Sorry abt that.

  • Hell of a place to inflate an air bed,,,,,,

  • The beautiful side of Pakistan, one they dont show on T.V, fuck the media!

And for you enthusiasts, look up "Nanga Parbat" mountain too. Its a little smaller than K2 but considered a far more dangerous climb!

    Visit us! :)

  • @jonnyjumpsalot There is also a movie about the Nanga Parbat

  • @Tobelli

    Oh? Whats it called?

  • @jonnyjumpsalot You've got Baintha Brakk too. Might be only 7000 metres, but some say it's one of the hardest peaks in the world to climb.

  • @jonnyjumpsalot Don't worry man, media shows the ugly parts of any country.

  • @jonnyjumpsalot 2k is considered the 2nd most dangereous avalanche-wise and the most technically demanding of the 8000ers... but nanga parbat is a tough cookie to swallow aswell.

  • I thought he was doing some sort of beatbox thing at first

  • One day I'll be climbing with you to the top...hopefully.

  • Howdy he says while belaying on a ledge on the most infamous part of the most famous mountain in the world! You sir are one impressive person. I'm starting mountaineering this season with Mt. Rainier. I cant say I'll ever develop the intestinal fortitude to ever cross K2, but you've inspired me to push closer to my limits. Well done!

  • Really nice picture quality

  • Does the sky appear black at the beginning ?

  • @VerystrangeMaster THE WHITE FORM THE SNOW DROWNS THE COLLOR OF THE CAMERA.

  • Здорово, просто молодцы.

  • without an oxygen tank is near suicide for us mere humans. most are too slow to even attempt this.

  • Excellent shot: By the way which camera did you use to film this?

    Thanks and congrats!

  • Really crazy place to stand looking up at all that ice... I would be scared to death especially after knowing what happened there in 2008

  • -felicidades compadre es magnifico

  • Wow, what a great video!! climbing that at 8000 meters..

thanks for share your experience guys

    greetings from Los Andes

    Un Andinista

  • Matterhorn rapes this

  • @TheScottgb I'm not going to go ahead and saw you are a couch mountaineer, but I'm guessing you've come to this conclusion after viewing pictures of the indeed beautiful Matterhorn and K2. Did you know that a miniscule amount of people have even attempted the vertical face of the Matterhorn? Not only is K2 near vertical on every face, it's also situated in the death zone giving you a third of the oxygen you get at sea level. So I ask you, which mountain seems harder?

  • @TheScottgb you sir, are a fool, the matterhorn isn't even half the size of K2 from base camp haha !

  • thank for sharing!

  • yeah this is k2 in pakistan

  • I just bout peed my pants at 0:19. I'm terrified of heights but I get a kick out of climbing a mountain, go figure.

  • amazing footage! what video camera do you use on your climbs. any suggestions on best way to recharge batteries on a long trek? solar? if so, which brand?

    K2 2012?

    Thanks!

  • Oxygen delivery system:

DWatson8848, can you tell me if you are familiar with the oxygen conserving nasal cannulas, and would you recommend it for high altitude ascents? Thanks

  • Howdy!

All right Watson... now I am an expert mountaineer too (in my mind). And I have climbed Everest hundreds of times while watching Discovery channel on my couch. Give us some info here... for us couch mountaineers to see if we can hypothetically pull this off.

    1) How many pull ups can you do?

    2) Can you run a marathon - and in what time?

    3) Are you rich?

    Peace

  • @catatonicmoron I haven't done a pull up since high school, I can run a marathon, but it would take me 3 days. No, I'm not rich but I have credit cards. Peace

  • @DWatson8848 Holy smoke, You probably have AMAZING stamina. I would be calling this bs if it were second-hand information. Respect to u man!

  • @DWatson8848

I am officially inspired now! Thanks!

  • @DWatson8848 Watson when you going to Nanga Parbat summit?

  • @catatonicmoron Of course you need to be fit, but its about determination and mental strength mostly. Oh and luck with the conditions.

  • good job man ,i am an ice climber from greece, and i think it was an amazing expirience but man you forgot the first rule in climbing always wear a helmet ... anyway , congrantulations!!!

  • Sick video. I hear that is the part of the mountain where most people are killed

  • Does anyone know how such an enormous serac could have developed in such an obviously weather-exposed spot? I would have thought it would have been whittled down by the winds.

Cheers & nice one Mr Watson.

  • Did you get sponsored for this climb?

  • Wow, Great shots.

  • A nice day in the hills. Howdy.

  • Sick googles dude :-D ! And very nice quality of the vid. Thumb up from me :-)

  • WOW i just wanna throw this out there...this video looks sick in 720p :))

  • "Howdy!"

  • What a video! And view down .....amazing! Kashmir's beauty can alone blow out rest of destinations of this planet. This place has everything one can dream of. From sky piercing daunting mountains to lunar landscapes...and what not!

  • It would have been really great (still could be) if you could add the name of the country in which K2 resides to the tags and title of video. Thanks.

  • @IbteeDApunisher its in Pakistan Dude. Real Namr is Godwin Austin. K2 stands for KaraKoram(the mountain range in the North of Pakistan)

  • @zardaree1 Lol I know since I am in Pakistan. I just wanted them to mention it so that others could know as well.

  • great video, pity for the oxygen...

  • I see - I have just 177099 views as I switch this on.Clear thing God says Hello, anyone home ???? Don´t you see the danger ?

Two friends of mine you met on the way up maybe - named Kim and Park. They are at 7600 or so frozen on a rope.Chemical engioneers Soul University. When I hiked on Everest a voice spoke DON´T CLIMB ANY HIGHER between Lukla and Namche and heaven bells rang.I was just joking.Good you are still breathing.I know your kind I biked here now the main road was closed reactivly.

  • This is sick, the best vid on the Bottleneck.

  • why do you go phhh pphhhh phhh phhh constantly ??

  • @liwainstitut he's breathing.

  • K2 could make everest its bitch any day.

  • @tipttt yeah man it's true that everest has technically easy routes (south-east ridge,north-east ridge) but routes other than these are a challenge even for the most accomplished and elite climbers (my opinion) .Routes like the south-west face, west ridge, north face central, norton couloir ,hornbein couloir .These routes are technically difficult at high altitude.Open the statistics in 8000ers.com and see how many climbs have these routes ... i repeat - this is my opinion

  • IMPRESSIVE!!!

  • thumbs up if u came from the manga Kokou no Hito...

  • stunning

  • Impressive! Thanks for sharing. :)

  • That was the fucking best ending ever. "Howdy!" Just chilling on K2 is all.

  • moving

  • oh shit think of falling down there

  • Wow. What an amazing accomplishment. This is awesome.

  • So dangerous and yet so alluring.

  • I climbed the k2 ina t-shirt and a 6-pack of beer ...but i don't wanna brag

  • Ok fuck that - respect.

  • That wall of ice was completely beautiful. I'm glad there's people like you to go film it so I can see it from the comfort of my home.

  • scale of 1 to 10, how hard was this bitch?

  • @freestate31 100000

  • wow this vid looks amazing!!! noone else has got any videos of being soo high up k2,well done with your achievement :) u got any more pics ?and as for those who are sayin u shudnt wear a mask they havent been educated enuff to know how thin oxygen is at such a high level

  • One of the rare good quality K2 vids on Youtube. I wish it was like 30 minutes long.

So did you guys make it to the top???

Btw, the sky above the mountain looks like space - totally black :) Super :)

  • I don't understand how anyone can ridicule ANY body who has enough courage to do such a thing. Brave indeed. I hear a lot about how independent you are supposed to be but you cannot forget your humanity. I have heard how some climbers walk past others who are in difficulty and cannot or will not help, guess I would have to be in that position to comment but I will never be so I guess i should be quite, stunning scenery BTW, I can see the allure of the mountains, stay safe up there.

  • Look at the bloody angle of the slope! And this is supposed to be the easiest route up the mountain. K2 is a definitely one hell of a technical climb.

Respect to you sir. Is there a fee to climb? I want to attempt the much easier Everest climb one day but that will set me back something like $20,000.

  • Thanks man - what a great video - the bottleneck looks pretty awesome, but i wouldn't want to stand under that ice for too long, that alone would get the heart pounding. Cheers SP

  • Well done. Don't care if you didn't quite make it to the top, climbing up the Bottleneck still deserves respect.

Stupid question probably, but it's bugging me: the sky looks really dark just at the start. Is that space you can see from near the top of K2?

  • My God! The image quality is superb! What camera is that?

  • Is this the second highest mountain in the world? I am new to mountains and mountaineering.

  • @TheIphone4thewin yes its second one in Pakistan 1st one is Mount Everest in Nepal

  • Fantastic shot of Broad Peak at 0.26 :)

  • Comment removed

  • nice one

  • hi..what is the name of the dvd this from, and is there lots of this high quality footage on it?

  • Wow, thank God for this magnificent beauty found only within His creation.

  • wow.. what exactly makes you guys wanna climb? Is it the view or knowing that you have climb it?

  • Excellent clip - thank you! BTW - IMHO, Tim McCartney-Snape's free solo of Everest without bottled 02 or ropes or support, from sea to summit stands as an inspirational climb. Cheers.

  • great video amazing view thanx for uploading

  • why is called bottleneck?

  • @nicoeastcoast this traverse is called "bottleneck", because it is formed like one. it is the most dangerous passage of the K2-climb. if the serac above the fix-ropes breaks, the ice will probably hit you and in worse case you will tumble down the whole K2 face.

  • nope vader darth did

  • How are you so lucky/how can you afford to do so many awesome things like ski in Pakistan and climb K2? Your trips must be crazy expensive.

  • I can't believe you have to use oxygen...how pathetic...I'm only joking :) Anybody who complains about you using oxygen is a moron. I've heard climbers who don't use oxygen say it's a personal preference and they hold no disrespect to anybody who does. Anybody who has climbed some serious elevations would never make disparaging(sic) remarks like that...Thanks for the amazing footage so I can live vicariously through you and when are you climbing Nanga Parbat or better yet, Rakaposhi ?

  • Awsome!!! what an amazing acheivment to climb K2. I envy you

  • Nice! Thanks for sharing.

  • Wow! Stunning.. Been looking alot for films and pictures of the different passages of this legendary mountain but I cant find many. I guess you guys have other things than filming to think about while up there:)

  • @TheTruth8k The style is to stay alive and not need help from the other climbers. Every one who did not use O2 were depending on the people with it to break trail, carry ropes, fix ropes. They could only sit and belay and look like zombies. You will damage your brain if you don't use it, you damage your brain less if you use it. I climb for myself and to have fun not to fit into what other people think is right or wrong. Training doesn't have any relation to acclimatizing to over 8000m.

  • @DWatson8848 The higher your VO2 max above average the better you can perform at altitude. Lots of climbers who have done the high peaks without oxygen have been self reliant and had a high VO2 max. It is possible to increase your VO2 max by literally training to your absolute maximum.

But your right you climb for yourself, not anyone else. The one guy could have been less of an ass about it. I for one would like to try without oxygen, but that may not work out.

  • @DWatson8848 The commenter you responded to was presumptuous and probably doesn't do high altitude climbing.

That said, you didn't need to make such a gross generalization about O2-free climbers. There are people who climb 8000ers without O2 who actually fix most of their own way up the mtns (the mtns are so crowded these days you'd end up sharing rte with other folks). You don't have to 'fit into what other think is right or wrong', but neither do others, you know?

  • @DWatson8848 it must do how do you explain reinhold messners accomplishments then?

  • @TheTruth8k god you're dumb

  • @TheTruth8k

You're a douchebag. At least he climbed the fucking thing.

  • @TheTruth8k this isnt the hill in your backyard you dumb piece of shit

  • now ski down it ;D

  • those are some sick ass goggles dude. How much did they cost and where'd you get em???

  • @DiveBum18 The goggles are Oakley Crowbar. Super awesome eye protection, I highly recommend them. They can be found online.

  • @DWatson8848 Thank you!

  • @DiveBum18 If you wear a helmet make sure to test the goggle fit. The Crowbars were not for me..I love the high light/sun lens though.

  • What'd you do to train for this (Cardio wise)?

  • @walawa1a I didn't train. Decided I was going 2 weeks before the start of the trip.

  • @DWatson8848 maybe you should've trained then you wouldn't have to rely on bottled oxygen like a complete amateur

  • @DWatson8848 maybe you should've trained then you wouldn't have had to rely on bottle oxygen like a complete amateur. where's the style bro
