My fave gun is the steel anarchy... 120 some damage x4 and it is only a lvl 37 wep... it rapes EVERYTHING! and its fire rate is through the roof, so it is one of them spray and prey kinda guns...

You should try the DLCs (except Moxxi's underdome, that one sux or get it in a Bundle with the other 3) You need 6.7mill XP to Max level and Knoxx DLC has the best gear ever. I have my character shielded with 4500 points and 3500hp and carry a Hellfire with 580DMG 78Cartridge and 12.5BpS thats a hellbringer!! Oh and a Volcano Sniper with 1028DMG

I recommend all except Moxxi's. But for new weapons and the ultimate challenge try General Knoxx because its the one that offers the better challenge and also has the "Ultra super secret Final boss" (well, thats what the entrance says XD) And it is certainly hard until you figure out a strategy and even then you might have trouble beating it alone because it kills you with 2 hits even with a 3000 shield.

Oh, for General Knoxx you must be level 34 minimum on your Playthru 1 and Lv50 on your Playthru 2 to even survive the first missions.

Amd finally, Knoxx raises your cap level to 61 while New Robot Revolution raises it to the highest point 69. And it is applied to all your other DLCs and main game, so you'll find stronger enemies in all the contentent as long as you have this DLCs. Fighting a Lv72 Destroyer and Crawmerax on my Playthru 2 was awesome.
